Is this more in line with what you're after? What would you like on the back if you're down with this design? I'd like to pursue this project if you like it, so give me some honest input! Thanks.
She's on Grevious' ship, right? Maybe there could be line added to the opening crawl which explains how she chased after Palpatine who'd been kidnapped by Grevious...
Then, her death scene could be intercut with the opening battle - IMHO it would serve as a much more dramatic intro to Grevious. As it stands he just walks into a room, coughs, and then vogues for the camera. Anyone who hadn't seen the Clone Wars series would have no idea how badass Grevious is.
Alternately, it might work as a nightmare sequence or a Force premonition...Hell, why not include it in AOTC with Yoda when he's meditating on the future of the Jedi?
I have okay resolution versions of the first two Struzan posters without text if anyone is interested...
None was done for Azkaban, which is a shame.
I was thinking, ADM, would you mind if I reworked my design into a slip case for the three DVD's? I was looking at it closer and it might make a nice box to print out?
Thought I'd try my hand at this. Here is a preliminary mock-up of a design I was thinking about for your set, ADM. Obviously input is welcome here. The back of the cover says "A Digital Man Presents: The Harry Potter Literary Edition."
I was hoping to incorporate the idea that you had edited back in scenes making the films truer to the books. Now, I obviously need to fill the space on the back with film titles or maybe the movie posters (which might stand out too much).
What do you think? Is this worth finishing? Again, input more than welcomed.
^ Well, that's you, and many others to be sure, but I sure was moved during the last few moments of 'Sith.' I cared about Anakin & Obi-Wan, hell, even the droids...
Perhaps our perspective will change when the prequels are viewed back-to-back, in the fashion that many of us have enjoyed the originals for years. What I'm getting at is that maybe our emotional involvement will be greater when the films are 2 hours apart, not 3 or 4 years. Just an idea...
^ Yep. At the very least it would have been nice to see Obi-Wan in agony for failing his Master. Then I wouldn't have cared about the unlikely 'friendship' between Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan basically broke his promise, and we don't see him suffer (for lack of a better word) for it, apart from the "You were supposed to bring balance to the Force," scene, which I thought was brilliant.
@ Cato - I applaud your continued efforts at getting your hard work out there. Here's a couple of things I noticed that hopefully will help you to continually improve your skills:
1) Like Rixter said, try adjusting your monitor so that the black levels are even. Some of the cut & paste things show through and really stand out. 2) The fonts and colours are a little bit off. Try looking at others and see what they've done. 3) You've used the widescreen logo from the Definitive Edition, but the back credits state it is a Fullscreen version - that's just one of those "proofreading" things. 4) The back pictures aren't all that dynamic, and the cropping on the second one cuts people's heads off.
Good effort, keep it up and I'm sure we'll see great things from you.
Without bringing up a film specific moment, what is your most annoying memory associated with Star Wars?
For example, I went to University with this douche chill who insisted on calling everyone's favourite Wookiee "Chewie Chewbacca," despite my insistence that 'Chewie' was a shortened version of Chewbacca, kind of a cute nickname from Han. He still didn't get it. He said that he remembered reading the storybook and Chewbacca was his last name and Chewie was his first name.
I showed him the storybook to prove him that he was dead wrong, and he told me it was a different book...Anyway, it bascially ended with me calling him an asshat and never talking Star Wars with him again. Whenever I think of him, I remember him as "That Douche Chill," all because of 'Chewie-frickin'-Chewbacca." Kind of one of those people that insisted they saw the Bigg's Tatooine scene in theatres back in '77.
The first page in each issue showed a panel of the manga in Japanese, and then the same one in English. There was a disclaimer printed that basically said that the films were so well known to countless North American fans, that some of the panels were 'reversed' in the Japanese to accomodate the fact that they read from right to left. I got the impression that they wrote it to discourage the whole "No, no, no, Chewie was standing on the right!" debate that likely would have ensued.
Here is the torrent link for the Star Wars Giga Pack, which includes an assload of comics, including the manga series...
In EU lore Lando attained said atonement by dressing up as a guard and doing some under-cover work in Jabba's palace. He "took one for the team" with the fat 9-breasted dancing woman, if you know what I'm talkin' about.
Actually, I made that up. But now you're picturing Lando with a fat 9-breasted dancing woman. Perv.
