Help: looking for... The Missing 'Raiders of The Lost Ark' Scene...
Time
The whole situation is that Lucas wanted to rename the 'Raiders' film to match the overall 'Adventures of Indiana Jones' boxset that would include the YIJC series. The films would be lumped in together with the TV series to make a complete history of Indy's adventures.

It's a shit idea, as far as I'm concerned. It's pointless because Indiana Jones was one of the raiders of the Lost Ark.

It's only the case art, if anyone is concerned. The film itself only says 'Raiders of the Lost Ark.' Thank God for small miracles.

Help with creating custom DVD covers
Time
Originally posted by: MannieTheDragon
Hello peoples. I'm completely new to the idea of creating custom DVD covers for my DVDs. I've been meaning to do a set of custom covers for my Star Wars saga using the poster art as well as nixing the Roman numerals in the top left hand corner of the front of each cover. I've also been thinking about doing some covers with the black backround and the silver borders (like the classic action figure cards out there.

Unfortunately, I have no idea which program is ideal to use. I've never done this before.....

With that said, just a few questions:

Which program is the best for doing projects like this?

Does anyone know where I can find high res images of the backs of the current covers?

Are there any places that have the Star Wars fonts similair or exactly like those on the existing covers, spines, posters, etc.?

Is there any place that has the "Star Wars" style templates (i.e., the black and silver borders, etc) available for download?

As far as printing is concerned:

What type of paper is best to use for the best printing results? I know that legal sized 8.5" x 14" paper is needed. But what textures are the best?

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated. I can't hardly wait to get to work on some of the ideas I have for covers.

Thanks,
MtD

Illustrator is best for doing fonts & logos, Photoshop for all of the artwork.

If you scour the internets, you can find hi-res images of the back of the current covers. However, in my experience it's always better to re-create things from scratch rather than build on top of pre-existing work. All of the fonts are readily available.

For the spines, like I just said, all of the fonts are readily available.

I'm not sure of 'templates' per se, but you should be aware that the Kenner cardback style has already been done by others.

People seem to have good luck using a medium gloss paper, but I'm not the one to answer this - anyone?

For finishing your results for display on message boards such as this, download a program called Imandix and it can give you the cool 3D look you may have seen displayed here.

Good luck!

I saw 'Raiders' in 1981 five times. In 1984 I saw it re-released with 'Temple Of Doom.' In 1993 I saw all of them together at a marathon. In 1998 I saw 'Raiders' again at an arthouse. I've seen it projected in 35mm, 16mm, Beta, VHS, LD & DVD.

Not once was that scene in there. Sorry - I hate to tell you this but it doesn't exist any more than the Bigg's scene did in Star Wars...

ROTS Extras: CGI TPM Yoda
Time
CGI is just not quite where I want it to be yet.

Take a look at 'Sith' when Yoda rubs the top of his head - the movement is slow and deliberate. It isn't photo-realistic at all.

Look, I know the arguments for both sides, but when I was in Florida at MGM Studios and I reached across the barrier in the movie props warehouse and touched the gaming table from the Falcon, that was touching history and I would've cried if I wasn't all tough and manly (*cough*).

What am I going to do next? Will I reach across a barrier and touch Rob Coleman's old computer that has Yoda stored on it?

Dishonorable Luke
Time
I always figured that it went down like this as they weren't sure if Han survived the trip. Sure, Lando said he was in perfect hibernation, but there was no gaurantee that Jabba wouldn't thaw him out and kill him.

Leia's role was to thaw him out and make sure he was all right, then high-tail it out of there and send word to Luke.

When that word didn't come, plan B went into effect where Luke came to rescue them all.

what made Jango so special?
Time
^ So true.

Why is Boba Fett so special for that very reason? He's more of an intergalactic courier than a bounty hunter. He takes Solo to Jabba, and that's pretty much it.

Because of a frigging costume fans made him out to be this "amazing character." Lucas fell prey to the fanboy wishlist and pimped out the Fett's like dime store skanks. They're overused and over-appreciated.

Prequel total rewrites...?

I've actually thought of re-writing the prequels myself. Though, the thing that irks me is that the whole "your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough", "No, I am your father(shock)!", "Leia's your twin sister". Thing could have been so, easily perserved. Example of one scene following:

Anakin wakes up after having a horrible dream.
(insert the actions in episode III up to it was only a dream)
Anakin: *goes and, picks up his lightsaber*
I want him to have this. To become a jedi master.
Padme: Him? How do you know it's a boy?
Anakin: He was in my dream.
Padme: Now, how could that be a bad dream?
Anakin: There was something else... You die in childbirth.
Padme: It was only a dream.
(conversation carry on as in the movie)

The above would also take care of why he only knew of Luke and, not Leia. More would have to be done to perserve the suprise of the Father thing though...

Obi-Wan manipluated Luke into following him, and the best way to do it was by inspiring him with stories of his father. Luke had no idea what happened to Anakin, so Obi-Wan tells him that Darth Vader murdered him - automatically instilling hatred of the Empire in Luke.

I don't see it as a so-called 'loose end' that Obi-Wan said "You father wanted you to have this." I look at it as Obi-Wan knew that was the best way to get Luke to follow him to Alderaan and restore the Jedi order.
