Thanks man! PM me details of what you'd like in a cover and I'm up to the challenge.

As for rare stuff, lamentably I own the original and 30th Ann editions of JAWS, but I do have an interesting book by Nigel Andrews (Bloomsbury Movie Guide No. 5) which has essays, storyboards etc...

That's probably not that useful, unless someone were to scan it all as part of a DVD-ROM content...

Well, it's a work in progress - I'll finish it up if interest is there. My goal is to keep the front the way it is (I'm starting to love hi-res minimalism) then add the necessary info to the back.

Again, if there are any fan edits or projects out there that this cover could be used for, that'd be awesome.

And Boon - if you want me to finish it up and send it to you as a replacement for the studio Jaws cover, let me know...

But I'd really like the cover to be attached to a Jaws project, again, if there's any out there!

This sounds like a job for... MANGLER BROS., INC. !

That sounds like what you did last night! J/K. I just watched the fucking thing last week, and good God, it's as bad as I remember it. When I was a kid and watched the original airing, it was a big deal. Now, it's like...I guess taste is something that develops with age.

Well, yeah, it would be nice if there were Extended Editions available. ADM's edits are about as close as we're ever going to get - and that's awesome because they rock.

Now, I understand why they shoot them the way they do. Not only is there a lot of ground to cover, they have a tight schedule and have to get these things out by a certain time. If only it were aperfect world, the kids wouldn't age more than a year between shoots and we'd get a Potter every Fall.

BTW ADM, I have some wicked GOF pictures if you ever do an edit of it, hint hint hint.

Hey ADM - sounds like this is legit for the HP4 DVD out at the beginning of March.

Deleted scenes from 'Goblet' DVD
Pablo of HarryLatino has heard from someone who worked on the Goblet of Fire that the following deleted scenes are to be featured on the movie's DVD:

* SCENE 1: Dumbledore asks his pupils to welcome Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students. All the Hogwarts students then start to sing the school song.

* SCENE 2: A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go with him to the Yule Ball. She says yes, and two of their friends make gestures in the background.

* SCENE 3: Harry tries to speak with Cho Chang, but as she is constantly surrounded by friends, he doesn't get the opportunity.

* SCENE 4: Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters at the Yule Ball. The lead singer speaks with the audience and then starts the first song.

* SCENE 5: Karkaroff tells Snape about the mark of his arm. Snape ignores him and removes house points from Fawcet and Stebbins, who briefly appear in the scene. Snape doesn't care about what Karkaroff has to say.

* SCENE 6: Mr. Crouch and Harry are speaking. Mad-Eye appears and Barty quickly leaves.

* SCENE 7: The trio speak about the death of Mr. Crouch. Ron thinks that Fudge will prevent the story from leaking out to the public. Hermione believes his death, Harry's scar burning, and the Dark Mark at the Quidditch World Cup are related. She recommends Harry goes to visit Dumbledore.

* SCENE 8: The trio speak about what Karkaroff was showing Snape on his arm. Hermione asks Harry which potion ingredients Snape accused him of stealing and realizes they are the ingredients needed for the Polyjuice Potion.

Cool. huh?

Great! I guess since I'm Canadian I just don't get it so I may as well fuck off.

Actually, I think I'll do that anyway because this place and Star Wars in general have become a real drag.

Well, what I mean is that most of this pop culture influence has come from those who grew up when the OT was released. When those people fade away, so to will SW, I'm afraid.

There's a big difference between Pop-Culture and Sub-Culture. I would argue that Star Wars fandom has become a Sub-Culture in that there is a certain language we all speak and symbology that we recognize as indelibly Star Wars. There are certain key phrases and perceptions of Stat Wars that we all tend to identify with great ease. Face it - we've developed our own system of communication over the course of close to 40 years.

Pop-Culture influence doesn't really come from those who either grow up with something or cherish something. It has to be latched onto by the mainstream in order for it to permeate into the public conciousness and become something...bigger than what it really is.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars are actually really good examples of the difference. In the 1980's up until now, I still see people wearing fedoras and leather jackets that are key signifiers of the image of Indiana Jones. That's Pop-Culture influence. In the 1980's up until now, I've yet to see someone walking down the street wearing a jet-pack or a Stormtrooper helmet. If I go to a convention where a group of like minded individuals are gathered, on the other hand, the odds of seeing someone decked out as a Jedi are pretty good. Those people are, like us, a member of a Sub-Culture - folks devoted to a certain topic or entity that is set apart from the public conciousness.

Pop-Culture tends to be fickle - it changes like the wind. Sub-Culture, however, tends to thrive and survive even under the worst possible conditions. It's when the public recognizes this Sub-Culture that things tend to crossover into the realm of Pop-Culture, like the launch of a new films for example. Then, after the dust settles, everything goes back to "normal."

Don't fear the end of Star Wars. There's still people that dress up like Dorothy and the Tin-Man for God's sake. It's all good, baby.

There is a group of Star Wars fans who will never know the joy of sitting in a theatre and watching a 16 or 35mm print of Star Wars, Empire or Jedi, looking up and seeing smoke in the beam of light from the projector and connecting on a primal level with an organic image on a screen.

They will never know the thrill of getting a copy of any one of the OT films on a rental VHS tape, watch it over and over and not care about the quality because the way Star Wars makes you feel is bigger than the movies ever could be.

They will never know what it was like to see Star Wars in 1977, Empire in 1980 and Jedi in 1983. The closest they will ever get is an approximation in the digital format de jour.

I pity them because they will never, ever understand or get it.

Idea: 40 Year Old Virgin - theatrical cut?
Time
Anchorman was the best comedy 2 summers ago.

I loved, loved, loved it. I bought it on DVD the day it came out...and was so angry. The pacing is all thrown off by the inlcusion of new scenes, and some of the best jokes were gone....it sucks!

I would also like to see the TV and theatrical cuts of Old School - there's some missing footage on the Unrated DVD that's not included in the deleted scenes!

Who hear thinks Jedi would have been more dramatic if Han Solo died?
Time
What I've always loved about Star Wars is that the good guys ultimately win.

Sure, they get their ass handed to them on occasion, but at the end of the day the Empire has been defeated, and they all hang out with Muppets getting drunk on blue milk.

It sends a positive message out to viewers - and I think if one of the main (and most popular) characters had been killed off, it would have damaged the ideals of Star Wars.

Ford only wanted to kill Solo because he was tired of the Star Wars legacy following him around. Even now it looks like pulling teeth just to get him to talk about it. I can understand where he's coming from, but if you want to do something with a character, do it to benefit the story.
Everything in a film should do just that - service the story.

I don't buy the argument that it would have "brought home the horror of war." Well, look, it's not called Real Wars, it's called Star Wars. We already had something to illustrate loss and horror - Empire Strike Back.

I've seen stuff like that on TV too. Horrible. Bloody sensacionalist media. And they say that they must show "the truth, no matter at what cost", oh come on! That is no excuse to show stuff like that. So, based on their logic, I'm entitled to show porn at any time I want.

No. They mean that, when reporting news, they should have the right to show what really happens, instead of shielding their audience from the truth or telling outright lies. And they shouldn't be prevented from that, asthat runs into the ideals of a communist country (controlling what your audience does and doesn't see to the point of leaving out what you consider undesireable). I doubt a news association would have any reason to excessively show porn, however.

I've got news for you AWK. Every single news company presents the "truth" in their own way, according to their political, financial, and social mandates.

A story reported on CNN will greatly differ from one reported on CBS, for instance. They have different agendas and skew the stories to fit that perspective. There is no such thing as the truth, as seen through your television or read in your newspaper. The North American media is just as guilty of it as a 'communist country,' as you say.

You've just got to understand that he started calling himself that after their birth, which is what he implies anyway.

Make sure you copy & paste that once the "How does Leia remember her mother?" debate comes up again.
