Original Trilogy DVD Article in Total Film

And there you have it. That's what they think of us all.

What the hell would he care, anyway? No one had ever even heard of that pompous ass before the SE's in 1997.

Have you ever heard of someone so arrogant as to think they are above criticism? The SE's and Prequels are done - why does this mouthbreather still have a job at LFL?

I'm deeply offended - I think I might actually write a letter to this dickhead, asking me for all of my money back that I've spent on Star Wars crap since 1997. Seriously. If this is his way of saying thanks to us for making him rich? God.

If you're sitting knee deep in coke and hookers reading this right now McCallum, you'll be hearing from me.

C U Next Tuesday.

EDIT - Who says anyone ever worshipped GL? We like his movies, for God's sake...it's not like we all sucked his dick to get a job at LFL? Anyone know anyone who did that? Eh, Ricky boy you fat bitch?

I don't give a shit what the law says - when we've pumped enough money into the machine we should have some inalienable right of ownership.

"So what's stopping us from dressing up like Ninja's and storming LFL and seizing the original (if any) film elements?" How about the fact that that's crazy...I am 38 years old and don't play "dress up" anymore....( yeah I know...I had a little sister, what's a big brother gonna do...).....and oh yeah, I don't want to be shot by the police when they come blazing up to the GL mansion.....

You are scaring me. This is the type of nonsense that is ruining this site... It makes us sound like a bunch of psychotic deranged fans....Please be serious....

Oh quit taking yourself so seriously - it's a joke you mouthbreather.

If he does, I hope you have sufficient backups offsite so that any "seizure" in any event would not provide an opportunity for all your hard work to be destroyed.

I don't know if this is even possible, but if GL wanted to, surely he could arrange for some kind of seizure of stuff pending an investigation, and things might mysteriously disappear in the process, even if you guys were found to be acting quite within your rights.

I really am cynical aren't I?

Yeah, DFNYC's was "better", but remember that Rikter's copy came from a source using older equipment...it was state of the art in 2000

OT.com = TFN?

I don't see ot.com turning in tf.n mainly because Jay is obviously not a Lucas fanboy. He's not going to gear this site in the same way that the webmasters of tf.n have done.

I wouldn't say this place has "become TFN" but it's on the road, no question. Which for me, means a countdown has started.

Not to get all film-student-y, but inclusion of the web-shooter would kill the puberty metaphor that is at the heart of the film. It's essentially an allegory for a young man coming of age, gaining new responsibilities, and measuring his worth by how he handles those responsibilites. The organic webshooters, especially the scene in Parker's bedroom where he can't control them, is, well...you do the math.

Funny Sentences In SPAM E-Mails...
Time
You know, I hate spam e-mails that promise giant erections as much as the next guy, but some of the language they use to get through spam filters is downright poetic. Let's start collecting them, some of them are pretty good reads! This one just came in, with the promise of "butter SeX in the from of a Cizalis" (when did Snoop Dogg start selling erectile dysfunction pills?) anyway, here goes:

=== "Then, Fletch," that bright creature said to him, and the voice was

"What the hell do you think you're doing, mister?"

"Maynard Gull, you have the freedom to be yourself, your true self,

Pretty fucking awesome take on the classics, no?

And for some stupid reason I remembered you as coming down really hard on Indy3 in another Indy thread, so I re-read it and it wasn't that bad, in all cases your comments were justified. That's what I get for having a shit memory.

I honestly thought that you and I had discussed the 3 minor changes made to 'Raiders' in another thread and you had basically said that it didn't matter and there was no purpose in even caring about a version that didn't have it.

How the hell could I want to fight with someone who likes Indiana Jones as much as I do? Anyway, no hard feelings I hope.

ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY OUT 09/2006 BY LUCASFILM
Time
Except wasn't the crawl on the EOD documentary anamorphic widescreen?

Oh well, I suppose it wouldn't take those ILM goons too long to get their digital erasers out and modify it...

I wonder if one were to compare the September version with the '77 bootleg and note the differences, we could all be refunded our money and report Lucasfilm to the Better Business Bureau for false advertising!

Info & Help: Looking for... Raiders Of The Lost Ark - on HDTV

First off, here's the olive branch DFNYC. I was too harsh on you, so let's just leave it at that.

I'm not sure exactly what I have in these 4 discs of the 1080 'Raiders...'

I'm willing to come clean on something - I spent the better part of 3 hours analyzing footage looking for the following, which were "corrected" for the DVD release:

-The cobra reflection.
-The boulder guide track.
-Matte line removal.

I couldn't find a huge difference in the screenshots I took. The colour is a little less red in the HD version - I know that these have to be different than the DVD because the dirt and emulsion scratches are still present, which aren't as bad on the DVD.

So, at the end of the day, what do I have on my hard drive? A nice looking copy of 'Raiders' with the swearing cut for TV? I sure would like someone with a better eye for details than me to look at this thing...

I was really excited to have a kick ass version of the film without the digital alterations made, which apparently only matters to me, so I'll shut up about it now...

audio cd creation help needed.
Time
DJ - I've used Sony Sound Forge and Goldwave which are both excellent for joining MP3 tracks together, if that's what you're getting at.

For example, I had a concert that was truncated by commercials, and I took the separate MP3's and edited into one seamless concert with no gaps between tracks. Sound Forge is readily available through http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/soundforgefamily.asp.

Also, when you import the whole shebang into, say, Nero, for burning, you can increase the bitrate which tends to boost the overall volume (I've found), but both Sound Forge and Goldwave give you the option of adjusting the recording volume.

Goldwave is also an awesome program for converting your old LP's and tapes to digital format. There's some pretty robust tutorials on the company's website.

Hope this helps. Oh, also, the "professional" choice would be Pro Tools which is a pretty advanced mixing program, but it's freeware which is nice (at least it was a few years ago) and tends to be a system hog.
