Sorry but if the people writing are breaching basic ethics and that are(As someone who has been to several shrinks and done a ton of research for something I am writing I know what I am talking about here.) I can tell you no one in the field would dare try to to make judgements on someone they have not sat in a room with and asked very pointed questions and if they did they would never make their findings public if they did.  They take the same oath to "Do no harm" that all other doctors do and attacking the person in public and making guesses as to what is wrong with them makes them far less likely to seek help and the doctor in question far more likely to be wrong about what their problems are.

In other words the writer of this piece has breached all ethics in order to write something that will make they themselves famous so of course they will go off the deep end and talk smack about the famous person they are writing about. If they have breached one set of ethics in the name of fame why not all of them.  So I am sorry but I don't trust a word these type of hucksters has to say.

Listen, I took 'Psych 101' AND 'Psych/Soc 104 Statistics for Sociology' and let me tell you, it's pretty clear from reading this post that you suffer from some serious borderline personality, and are probably psychosexually still in the oral stage. I recommend both ritalin and lengthy hynotherapy.

Lucas's cartoon, his thoughts on it.

http://blogs.indiewire.com/womenandhollywood/quote-of-the-day-george-lucas-on-hollywoods-lack-of-movies-for-girls-20150119

So Lucas thinks his movie is being marketed wrong, as a sword fighting-adventure movie, when he made more of a musical that he thinks is somewhat more for girls, but that it's not ONLY for girls.

It's an interesting discussion that Lucas is at least still aware of Hollywood social issues and he takes a couple shots at the Academy.

I'm going to go see this over the weekend, so I'll let you know.

Peter Jackson on the two-film edit:

The split was going to occur where Bard [Luke Evans] appears on the river bank as a silhouetted figure with a bow. So the whole barrel sequence was going to be the climax.

Just in case someone wants to re-create the alternate universe two-movie edit.

that would be cool along with cutting some bits out that weren't in ether the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings books, it might make for two roughly 3 hour films!

The old 90 minute Rankin/Bass Hobbit moved along at a pretty brisk pace without leaving TOO much out or adding lots of extra padding so still remains my favorite adaptation so far, but I still think Del Toro (or PJ) could have made one or even two REALLY amazing movies from this story on par with the LOTR films IF the focus actually remained on the title character of Bilbo instead of on Alfrid, Legolas, Kili/Tauriel, the white Orc, the White Council, etc.

As it is, splitting this story into three bloated films has really killed this version as far as I'm concerned--a lot of the extra stuff in the films could have been added back in for the extended editions but should probably not have been left in for the more streamlined theatrical versions.

I'm really looking forward to watching a shorter one or two movie edit and think it will do wonders for my prequelesque feelings of mehness about the current PJ versions.

I'm contemplating doing a edit that matches as best I can the pacing and events of the cartoon version. I might even make it full-screen.

Now all future books and comics will share the same level of authority as the films. If that doesn't warrant a new discussion, I don't know what does.

That will simply never be true. No matter what they say, Disney/Lucasfilm will never put that much stock in the books/comics/cartoons. The money is in the movies.

If they have a plot for Ep VIII and it contradicts a book or "Rebels" I guarantee no one in charge will give a hoot.

Making a dystopia movie this summer
Time

Just logistically 50 different sets is INSANE. If you're giving yourself a year, I strongly recommend taking a good long look at the script, and finding scenes that can take place at the same location, or be shot on the same location standing in for different locations.  Just travel will kill you.

I shot a film where a small box canyon, with a couple props and different times of day and angles stood for four different locations.

I acted in a film where a racquetball court was both a dystopian prison cell, and with the addition of a file cabinet  and a plant, served as a office for a close-up dialogue scene.

"Darkness"?

Star Wars is kinda a fairy tale. I don't mind 'darkness' involving destruction, scariness, fear, even pain and death.

'Darkness' like the Batman "Arkham Asylum" games I can do without. I'd hate to see everyone be dirty physically, bad language, sexual content, drugs, degradation, and revealing outfits be (as is all too common) offered up as a thin layer of 'adult sophistication.'

The alternate timeline thing was a clever way to bridge the two universes and make everyone happy, but it does create some serious headaches if you think about it too much. I find it's easy, though, to put continuity issues aside and view these films on their own, as a reboot.

NuSpock calls OldSpock and asks "Dude, how did you beat Khan in the other movie?"

Did that make anyone happy?
