Does anyone care about the 'extended universe'?

I very much like the "Legacy of the Force" series. The rise of Darth Caedus struck me as a good example of how evil does not start out as black, but sort of an off-white. By the time you recognize it as black, it is too late.

I thought that the Boba Fett subplot was also supremely well handled. Karen Traviss turned Fett into a flawed and scarred human being, and as a result, his character was that much more badass, even though he's in his seventies!

Again, I suspect that many fans don't want Fett to be "humanized." To each his own.

I didn't love the  humanizing of Boba, but I admit it was interesting to read.

Although with Jacen/Caedus, while the arc had it's ups and downs, I was never able to get over his initial evil act, where he looked into the future and basically said "If I don't commit murder, the plot will never happen!"  :)

I haven't played The Force Unleashed but know that the main character in the game challenges Vader for his seat with the Emperor or something like that. You have all these super powerful, important characters that seem to come along every week in the EU timeline but it's all inconsequential because what you have in the OT is all that matters (at least to me).

Isn't that a little circular? You dislike the stories that aren't the OT because they don't matter because it doesn't matter because it's not the OT.

Seriously, do we care what the people at TFN think of us?! LOL! Those people are beyond delusional- they have ZERO credibility so I hardly think they're in a position to judge us.

That someone dares to like the PT or the SE is delusional? I someone with less discenring tastes about color-seperation really crazy? Does liking the dug in Jabba's palace really cost someone their credibility?

Conan: Red Nails
Time

An animated feature based on this story, Conan: Red Nails, is currently in production. Actor Ron Perlman will provide the voice of Conan. Tolkemec is voiced by Mark Hamill in this version. However, there have been no updates to the film's website [19] since December 2007. IMDB currently lists the film for release in 2010.

How does this happen? Does somebody get enough capital to record dialogue and open a website, then just hope they get more money?

I hadn't realized how many YEARS it's been since I first heard about this movie being 'made.'

Pity.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

Star Wars and Empire used nature and made them alien. Deserts and Tundra are all over the world, but they made them work. They sold regular things as irregular things.

Jedi just doesn't sell the woods of California as very alien, simply because most people probably drive by woods very similar every day or live near woods like that.

For what it's worth, I'm from the Southwest US, and Tatooine never seemed that alien to me. In fact, I think I liked Luke more because he grew up in a place that was so much like my hometown.

I thought Endor was the most amazing place I'd ever seen. I think I went to college in the Pacific Northwest because of a desire placed watching ROTJ when I was little.

Inconsistencies across the saga

My biggest gripe;

Obi-Wan "There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me."

I would like to point out there is a bigger line hinting at Yoda being Obi-Wan's MAster which people missed in the ESB:Revisited thread... When trying to explain the line or suggest a change to it;

Obi-Wan "Was I any different when you taught me?"

.... Actually Luke I learned from Qui-Gon.... >.>

The other day my wife came to my work, and I introduced her to a colleage who was actually my teacher when I was in the 8th grade.

"This is Mr. Koffman, my old science teacher." is what I said. I didn't say, "This is Mr. Koffman, one of several science teachers who taught me over the years." I think she still understood me just fine.

Inconsistencies across the saga

This bugged me the other day. It's so painfully obvious I never thought about it until now.

The CLIMAX of ROTJ is Luke throwing his lightsaber away, rejecting violence, and taking his mantle as a Jedi.

Luke is not stupid. He beat Vader, refuses to kill him, and apparently thinks he won.

This is great... but it hinges on the fact that neither Yoda nor Obi, both of whom have first hand knowledge of how this works, mentioned to him that the Emperor can shoot freakin lightning, and Luke could block it with his lightsaber.

Just one more way the PT totally drops the ball.

Perhaps this community has swung a little further towards HATE on the "Haters"/"Gushers" pendulum, but not IMHO much further than many other comparable sites.

Given that the basic building block of this site is OOT Preservation, which is sadly antithetical to Lucas and Co's main stance, a little venom is perhaps to be expected.

And sadly, the occasional "Raped my childhood" or "Lucas should die" nonsense is always louder and more noticable than reasoned discourse.

Did you not read the tweet above where he said:

"I tried it once and I learned to regret it" - Spielberg on changing ET

Isn't it his right to NOT include a SE?

Of course he is. But then again, so is Lucas in his right to not include the original. Personally, I would like to see both versions released.

A director withholding a previously released SE and a director withholding a theatrical version is not comparable.

I don't know. Is it a question or ORIGINAL INTENT or is it a question of film history? The ET SE is still a piece (arguably a notable piece) of film history.
