I can't believe they put the "First Catch of the Day" guy on there. He had no discernible character traits.
I think that's the joke.

3) Curse of Frankenstein (1957) starring Peter Cushing. The film that started the British horror cycle (1957-1974) and it's the best one. Doctor Frankenstein is not a sympathetic figure as portrayed in Mary Shelley's novel, he is a pure sociopath who has no qualms about robbing corpses and even murder. You can't help but cheer for Peter Cushing here.
I disagree. Not that it's a great movie, but that Frankenstein is sympathetic in the novel. He's totally obsessed, has no conscience over the people who die or the horid fate of the monster. Even in a first person account he comes off as a borderline sociopath. I think he's far closer to Cushing in the novel than to Clive or Kenneth Branaugh.

I also apologize, I just re-watched the video. It somehow must have slipped my mind that he said in it "I f___ing hate the Eagles". I just didn't remember him saying to those words. Again, I apologize.
Unforgivable. The only pennance is learning to golf and starting an Eagle's cover band.

If 1941, Towering Inferno, Superman, Home Alone, Black Sunday, and Poseidon Adventure can get a complete release, I am sure Star Wars can.
If Frankenhooker can get a proper BluRay relase but Star Wars can't, anything is possible.

can't get enough of that "Phases of the Moon" song.
WOO HOO! It's that time of year again!

Obi Wan killing Grevious is much more grisly here. I had no idea Steven was a gore fiend. ;)
I gotta say, ripping out Greivous's chest-brain thing, throwing it on the ground, then shooting it seemed a little un-Jedi.

what does the game of gold have to do with this?
I don't know at all. But if you ever make it to Palm Springs, give me a call and we'll hit the links!

Well, at least the man has done something with his career. Mark Hamill was great in Star Wars, but did he do anything big after it? Anything noteworthy? I think not.
He was in a car crash that to some degree hurt his movie star good looks.
Also, starring in the biggest movies of all time do tend to limit your opportunities somewhat afterwards.
Both those being said, he's had a fairly interesting and diverse career post-SW. Frankly, I wish he worked more. I enjoy him in everything.
Happy Birthday!
This summer my 2 year old has become Star Wars crazy.
He woke me up one morning holding his toy mini-golf club, pointed at himself and said "Luke" then started making lightsaber noises.
His official first sentence was "Artoo Wa Wa Boom." which translates as "R2-D2 fell into the water!" And extra cute, he wasn't watching ESB at the time, he was requesting to see that scene.
He dances around during the crawls, Yub Nub, Cantina Band song, and Jedi Rocks.
We tend to watch the SE because we do the Spanish language track.
I'm pleased to say he doesn't care for the PT. Once or twice I put it on, but he asks for Vader (named "Hhhhhhh-pa") or Luke.
I've also heard that, but never seen a reputable source.

This is the one with the really, REALLY cool cinematic trailers (3 AFAIK) or a new one?
You mean the ones with the Matrix fighting and the super force Street Fighter fireballs? Yeah. this is the one.
I something wrong with the forum? All I see on this thread is static?

Should we start figuring out a way to tunnel under Skywalker Ranch and steal the original negatives?
The ranch does have a formidably defense mechanism. There's an energy field projected from the small nearby island of Alcatraz.

But isn't a patch over an eye some kind of eye patch?
Those aren't over the eye, they're around the eye.
The next and all subsequent around the eye non-eyepatch posts get punished.
I see... eye patches (meaning patches around the eye) aren't ok, but PATCH ADAMS is?!??!!?!?
I see what Frink is becoming.

Meh. When I was growing up, I recall Celtics' radio announcer Johnny Most screaming "Bird was raped!", implying that Larry Bird was fouled and there was no call. Was I supposed to take that literally?
Is the phrase "my childhood was raped" too much? Of course. But does it really belittle people who have been raped? Was someone who was raped actually offended by a geek saying "George Lucas raped my childhood"? There's sensitivity, and then there's needless sensitivity. And it doesn't have to have sexual connotation.
I'm glad a 1960s basketball announcer is your touchpoint for decent behavior.
As a victim of sexual abuse and a former rape councelor, then YES, it makes my fucking skin crawl to hear that bullshit.
I'm glad that what you personally are not sensitive about is needless.

I'd say that the OT had the greatest impact on my life. But they aren't my favorite movies. They came out when I was a kid and I really loved them. Ever since I grew up, my tastes became more refined. So much so that I can't really pick out my "favorite movie".
I'm not sure you meant it this way, but personally I don't think there's anything 'unrefined' about "Star Wars."

With some close competition, "Star Wars" is definitly my favorite movie.

That's not how the meme works.
Aw carp!
I knew it didn't sound right. Enlighten me?
In my defense, English isn't my native language, nor my second for that matter lol!
For a non-native speaker I'd accept incorrect grammar, word usage, or even congegation of verb tenses... but NO ONE misuses an internet meme! No on!
So sorry, I did look it up! Found Frink's OT meme thread. Didn't learn anything form it regarding the correct use of "You mean he's a...?" and other memes. Except for who said it first!
How the hell am I supposed to learn goddammit! LOL
:'(
Even if I fail at memes, I promise you I will try my best to properly congegete verbs at least.
(just to be clear, I was joking)

Somehow Lucas MADE Bill Moyers interview him and the Smithsonian display his stuff? Or could we look at it as Lucas graciously did those things since he already has the prestige as the director of two of the greatest movies of all time, and the most successful independent filmmaker of all time, and a technological visionary?
And he somehow cleverly manipulated it so that a picture was taken of him and his peers (who he just presented an award with) when they were all together! Scandalous! Damn tricky apologists! This is unheard of!!!!!!
true, he didn't force anyone to do those things, but he knew it would make him look good. I'll admit, I thought it was cool, especially when the Field Museum opened an exhibit and I was able to see Darth Vader and C-3PO costume.
and to your point that he already had the prestige - yes, but more than he deserved and he milked it. Before the PT, he spent a lot of time talking about myths, kurosawa etc. During the PT, he pushed very hard the angle that 'well, star wars was always lame. they're just dumb kid movies'
for the oscar - i didn't say he staged all that; again, just he knew it would make him look good. and maybe theres are part of me that felt robert deniro should have been there instead and my annoyance showed thru more than I intended.
I dont like saying this about someone. Im not happy to call someone dishonest and deceitful and opportunistic. but thats what he is. There is plenty of evidence of this behavior -the biggest examples are him blathering on and on about how "star wars was actually a large multi-generational saga that I had planned all along." another is "special effects are just tools for telling a story". "Im really an art-house/experimental filmmaker". He didn't misspeak when he said these things. He did it for a good reason.
So I ask the question: other than hiding in a cave, WHAT could Lucas do that could not be interpreted as being a prestige-whore
People at the Oscars look good. When someone makes a musceum display about you you look good. Should Lucas not do these things? Wouldn't you call him bad names if he turned the Smithsonian down?
