Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

In the past I suggessted I'd like to have seen the Emperor show up at the DS in something more majestic. I reccomended white robes.

Anyway, yesterday I was coloring with my lad, and since he tells me what color crayons to use (bossy... gets it from his mom) I ended up coloring a Darth Vader with a red cape.

It looked awesome.

I think in that one scene, the huge formal arrival of Empy on the DS, it would have been bad ass to see Vader in a red silk cape.

I though all those times you said 'partner' you were a cop?!

I can't remember referring to my better half as my partner but I must have done at some point because I don't think he has ever been a boy.

I don't think you ever did. I like the 'better half' term, but I couldn't resist using that cop line about. About three months ago I got to deliver it to another dad who takes his lil kid to the same park as mine and I had a friendly relationship with.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

My 18 year old nephew is a little junkie fucker.

The other night he got in the face of my big brother, who broke his nose with a headbutt, then calmly finished his cigarette with the little bastard writhing and bleeding on the ground.

My nephew then called his dead beat dad 3000 miles away, whom he hasn't seen but once in 12 years, to tattle on my brother. His own father told him to man up and show some respect.

You're a gay?

I though all those times you said 'partner' you were a cop?!

Well let me ask...

I was once deeply shocked to learn that in the black community, there are levels of discrimination against other blacks based on skin tone and hair. Is there anything like that in the gay world? Like... I'm MORE gay than you, or Lesbians who hate gay men... or gay men with mustaches who hate large gay men with bear claw tattoos?

Gay Marriage in Archie? Why is Boost so happy?
Time

So a bunch of people are pissed that "Archie" comic is having a gay marriage.

Whatever. I'm all for gay marriage in "Archie" but that's not why I'm happy.

What I'M stoked about is that all the people with their panties in a bunch about the GAY marriage, are forgetting to be mad that it's a BIRACIAL marriage!

Not that long ago people would have been up in arms about comics trying to force biracial marriage on our kids! I guess the key to progress is making sure asshats have someone new to hate. As part of a biracial marriage myself, I want to thank the gays of the world for taking the heat off me.

I look forward to the future where, like Starship Troopers, the only objectionable thing about this comic cover is that a Citizen is marrying a Civilian.

Therefore, if you want to watch ESB:R, buy the Blu-rays.  Period.

The rules have been made crystal clear.  If you don't intend to abide by them, kindly keep that information to yourself.  The rest of us don't wish to hear about it.

Id missed this about the Blu-Rays. Thanks for clarifying again.

I gots to get me a Blu-Ray then before this comes out.

I don't see it as just a rule of the site, I see it as a moral obligation. I, MBTM, Adywan, Harmy, and everyone else in this hobby aren't here to get something for nothing. This is art and the discussion of art.

For the record, Goosebumps was the bomb!

I am actually surprised to see the hate that is coming from some.  I made an anthem for fellow Jedi enthusiasts...I didn't rip you guys a new Bantha hole.  I ripped Chris not for personal gain or to "make my name off him" lol, He talked smack like the 7 year old he is and I felt I had to support my boys.  Plus serisously, Fette's Vette is not so much dedicated to Star Wars as it is just a song with some references. Some one tell me they can understand every word without looking up lyrics...come on.

Thanks to the guys that actually enjoyed it.

LightSpeed!

As I said, I thought your song was a hoot (which is good).

You might have had a more positive response if your posts didn't begin and end with "F this guy" which inevitably leads to an argument about why, whether or not,  and to what degree this guy should be 'F'ed.

For the record, Goosebumps was the bomb!

If you don't want to be defined by your 'beef' (am I saying that right... beef?) with this MC Chris, it's probably best that you don't have your spammer friend start his post by mentioning MC Chris.

If you don't want to be thought of first as "kid who was in Goosebumps" then it's perhaps advantageous to not have "Canadian Actor" in the title of your thread about your hip-hopping.

And as for MC Chris "labeling himself an MC," is that any sillier than having a "record label" with "artists" that's apparently just a couple of youtube videos and a twitter account?

With all that being said, while not my style of music, not half bad.

There's "beef" in novelty rapping now?

And rappers 'diss' eachother about how enunciated there words are?

What a world.

It's brilliant in places.

It's a short watch mind because it was killed before the full first series was finished which is frustrating because just as you get into it, it's finished.

 Killed? Season? I don't understand.

"Firefly" is an awesome miniseries, and it sure was cool how so many people loved it that they made the last episode a theatrical film, like "High School Musical 3"

Does anyone know of good footage of Ian McDiarmid outside of Star Wars? My plan is to restructure everything into one defend-the-planet movie, with the kidnapping of Palpatine taking place near the end and the killing of Dooku becoming the true turn to the dark side event.

He's in "Elizabeth" the miniseries with Helen Mirren. He's even in a robe!

Saw "Pandorum"

Load of POOP. Interesting sci-fi horror premise.

Then out come the low-budget LOTR orcs moving in weird frame-rates so that the audience knows they're supposed to be scary.

Throw in nonspeaking Asian farmer so that he can have an 8 minute kung-fu fight with one of the space-orcs and a couple really predictable twists and you have a film that's biggest virtue was that it was relatively short.

Hmm... we'll agree to disagree here.  I really liked Pandorum.  Could you apply your synopsis to the original Alien movie?  It seemed to work for that one.

It comes to that (IMHO of course) Alien was scary.

The Orcs in Pandorum were comical. In fact, the bad 28 Days Later jitter-frame that the film did when they were on screen made them even sillier. And that one line of technobabble they spit out to explain the Orcs was great: "We had drugs pumped into us to help us adapt to our new planet, but there guys adapted to living in a spaceship by becoming parkour athletes and looking like a bad Hellraiser fan-film! Oh yeah, and spikes out their backs."

If the Nostromo had some random Asian guy on it that had a karate fight with the Alien, I'd say that was crappy too.

I think this film had a fascinating premise: Waking up, no memories, where are we? Those goofy monsters and the kung-fu Korean-farmer just killed it for me.

The thing is, what if they HADN'T been orcs? What if the humans had survived being crazy scavenging cannibals for 800 years. Those would be some degraded SCARY FUCKING PEOPLE, and I wouldn't need shoulder-spikes and "The Ring" jerky movements to remind me they're scary.

 That sounds familiar.

Pandorum (2009).

How the hell did this film flop?

It's visually amazing, has great action sequences and lots of interesting ideas.

I think the orcs moving in weird J-horror fast motion was laughable. Killed the flick for me.

As for "narrative flaws" the explanation "they gave the people drugs to speed up evolution so they became Mad Max Orcs!" was some of the goofiest sci-fi-talk I've ever heard.

The fact that even ONE person went to see THIS movie in the theater like two months after the blu-ray came out on home video...

Exactly. SW fans, even the ones who openly criticize George, the prequels, the special editions, and all the other crap, still can't manage to say, "No," to the flannel overlord. The levels of self-loathing are immeasurable.

I never even tried to say "no."

I have no personal struggle, self loathing, or cognitive dissonance over Star Wars.

When Lucas puts out a product I do not want or actively dislike (blurays) I don't buy it. Easy as that.

If Lucas puts out a product I'll enjoy (Clone Wars cartoon, TPM 3D) I have no problem enjoying it.

My  demand for the OOT is in no way compromised by this stance.
