Did DKR warn us about recent "False Flag" shootings?
Time

I certainly oppose. For one thing, I'm more of a fence sitter on the topic. For another, I feel insurrection should be a last resort and we were heading towards the Fourth Reich. Just because I like a man's characters and stories certainly doesn't mean I like his political views.

Just curious. ;-)

Gotta say, it's a good thing everything he's written in decades has sucked, otherwise his political opinions might color my perception of his work.

I didn't click, imagining the video is in terrible taste.

DK and DKR were both films that, apparently with great success, dealt with the anxieties of the era.

That's why DK is held up as both a celebration and a condemnation of the Patriot Act. That's why DKR has been seen as a call for revolution and a satire of the Occupy protests. The modern era is filled with a general sense of an evil we can't understand, but dealing with that feeling in a film is not prescient.

Dear Americans, what do you think about the good old Europe? Where would you like to visit here and why? Do many Americans want to travel here or rather somewhere else?

I've always wanted to visit USA and it would be cool to live there, too. Haven't had the chance yet but when I do, that will be the first one on my list to visit there. But there are also a few negatives living there, like you have to do your own taxes, LOL. Is that hard? What else do you think is "bad" about your country and you wish that things were like in country X? For example education is free here including university, which is one thing I'd miss in the States.

Well, the town I live in was founded in 1980, so "The 'Old' World" has a certain appeal, to see a piece of rubble on the ground that's been there longer than my country has existed is amazing. I'd rather travel to Europe again because frankly I'm afraid of Arabs.

I actually have a list of things I need to see/do in America before I can justify the expense of crossing the pond again. It seems odd I saw the Alps before I saw the Rockies, and visited The Hague before I went to DC.

I can't imagine NOT filing my own taxes, so I guess that's not a problem for me. I sure wish healthcare was free, but I have good insurance, so at least I'm glad for that. I wish we were a little less materialistic; our houses and our cars are just so damn big.

Star Wars audio-drama pitch.

Need some help from the team!

I got a character that needs a name. It seems SOMEONE is assassinating prominent Separatists who have since made nice with the Empire. No one knows who or why, but there rumors of this XXXXXXX killer have made their ways to the ears of our protagonist, who is a Separatist who has made nice with the Empire.

What's this killer's name? I have no idea. The Zodiac Killer? The Scarlet Pimpernel? The Ice Dagger? What do people call him?

Maybe he leaves a calling card, or kills in a particularly unusual method, and either of these lead to his name. This is going to be a little background plot, possibly paying off in the future.

Any ideas?

I did have an account at okcupid.  never got me anywhere.  Anyway,  right now is not the time.   I need to lose weight and get more money.

The second time I fell in love I was living in my car.

When my wife deemed to marry me, i was the chunkiest I'd ever been and every cent I made went to school. Her wedding ring was $80.

If I might presume to guess, you don't feel confident about yourself because you're concerned about wallets and waistlines.

Sure there are women that wont dig you. There are some women who wont dig you if you're an adonis with a fancy car. But speaking as a guy that at best can be described as moderately handsome, more women like confidence than like 6-pack abs. Try to feel better about yourself, youre a human being, not a consumer product, and thats what women respond to.

25 guys spending their weekend on the fantasy football "draft" or putting on their little sports costumes to go to the bar (and yes, I call sports jerseys 'costumes')

not sure how you can call it a costume.   It is not like they are wearing the football pants, helmet, and shoulder pads.    They are just where a football jersey and jeans(or some other normal kind of pants) .

If I put on my Darth Vader cape and mask, but wear jeans, people say I'm in a costume.

If someone puts on the uniform of a sport they don't play, or a team they're not on, with someone else's name on the back, looks like a costume to me.

Does John Tesh suck?
Time

My hatred of Tesh stems from his radio show.

As a DJ he basically reads short lists of ways to be a better person and gives really lame, obvious advice.

"Is your wife waiting for the results from a serious medical test? Studies show it will help your marriage if you comfort her as she waits."

"Did you know MONEY is the cause of lots of stress in life? To avoid stress, make sure you have as few money problems as possible."

"Researchers in Cambria have found that if you lock babies in closets, they grow up less secure than non-closet-locked babies. Be sure to talk to your spouse about that, and avoid trans-fats."

The Scifi Films of 2013

So it's looking like 2013 is going to be a banner year for Scifi. So far we have the following to look forward to:

Oblivion

After Earth

Ender's Game

Pacific Rim (my personal favorite)

Which are you looking forward to and why do you think 2013 is turning into such a good year for the genre?

Don't get your hopes to high. I'm stoked and plan to see all those, but it's possible any could be "Prometheuses"

And really, at this point arent 2/3 of all movies released "sci fi" in some sense?

I just get confused by the inordinate passion that sports fans have, and I hate that as stupid as it is, it's totally acceptable.

25 guys spending their weekend on the fantasy football "draft" or putting on their little sports costumes to go to the bar (and yes, I call sports jerseys 'costumes') just seems like a waste of time, and it's up to anyone how to waste their time, but I get weird looks for holding my annual "6 Star Wars Movies In A Day" marathon.

One of the problems is too much equipment. The more protective helmets have become, the more frequently we've seen hard, helmet to helmet hits.

Agreed. You take a man, dress him like a tank, he will act like a tank.

I say make the game more interesting. Give one player in ten a breakaway helmet, but don't tell them or the fans which it is. Hilarity and excitement ensue.

I like George Lucas
Time

The ONLY beef I have with GL is that he wont give us the OUT.

Other than that I think he's a great filmmaker and a helluva guy. Edutopia is a great resource, and this Foundation does amazing work. His daughter kicks ass in MMA and he loves flannel. What's not to like? I think RadioLand Murders and Young Indy were super. For years he has let other creators play in his sandbox, giving me hundreds of hours of additional enjoyment. He's a technological visionary and the THX 1138 short film still blows my mind.

There are two great PT Audio Plays available. "Labyrinth of Evil" and "Dark Lord". They contain all the original voices from the movies, as well as music and soundeffects. The only problem for 90% of the guys (and girls) here: it's in German. ;-)

The guy who did these is currently working on the "Thrawn-Trilogy". Three of four parts from "Heir To The Empire" are already available.

Damn Germans. How dare they have their own fandom in their own language. My grandpa didn't fly 52 bombing missions so that PT Audio Plays and Maniac Mansion fan games could be in Deutsh
