A fellow Eddings fan!  I like the Belgariad very much, but I have to confess that I think the writing in the Elenium and the Tamuli is a little better.

I'd be interested in knowing where this image comes from and what it says too.

I think the story in the Elenium is less predicatble/Tolkienian, and the world is more sophisticated and compex.

But its hard to  get over our first love, and I read Belgariad in the 6th grade and it changed my life (which is admitedly easy to change in the 6th grade).

You might go looking else where to solve this mystery. There are plenty of Japanese people on the internet, I am just not sure how many hang around here. I bet if you find some anime forum, you could post an inquiry from them and get a quick answer.

Yeah... bu that would require work.

A google search... registering on a forum... copy and pasting my Original post.

Just typing the list of what I'd need to do makes me tired... ... ...

That's just my opinion, and to be fair, there are two Dracula adaptaions I havent seen yet (Dernhelm Elliot and Jack Palance as the Count).

The real surprise however was the first half of the much derided Patrick Bergin modern version (the second half goes right of the rails). I dreaded putting the disc into my player after hearing how awful it was and the second half is pretty awful but the first part wasn't that bad.

Even though it's updated to the present it keeps reasonably close to the source material though the acting isn't very top drawer.

I'll have to give the Patrick Bergin one a shot. I've always avoided it up until now.

I'm trying to figure out what this pic is from. The author's website doesn't mention any Japanese editions.

If anyone can tell me what this damn thing says, I'd be grateful.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but you're saying Lucas didn't come up with the term "Sith" but borrowed it from the early drafts (that he wrote?).

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

So I'm playing "Bully"  on my PS2 (I know I'm 5 years behind on technology).

Suddenly my skateboard is accelerating without me pressing any buttons, and the world around me stops rendering, until I'm floating in a grey void. Then the game freezes.

I try again, and this time my character falls through the solid floor and dies. A third time I try, and when I go to the load screen the game freezes agani.

The other games I own for the PS2 seem to work, but the "Bully" disc doesn't seem to be damaged.

Any ideas what woudl cause such madness?

THREAD IS OPEN!!!

(lol)

Sorry Boost, but that kind of question is better served in the actual video game thread:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Video-Game-Thread/topic/1456/

This thread isn't intended to be useful.

We have an actual video game thread???

(that's both a legitamate explanation of surprise, as well as on topic, since it's an obvious observation based on your previous post. Double points for me.)

OT.com's LOST
Time

While all this interesting stuff is happening,  I contiune to do enigmatic things in the backgroud, such as playing chess against my own shadow, and finding pages from the book of Revelation nailed to the trees mysteriously.

Hardcore fans will remember me doing this, and hope it someday pays off.

What are you giving up for Lent?
Time

In college I once went 6 days fasting. (to be fair, I had a glass of apple juice each morning to placate my girlfriend who thought I'd die).

It had occured to me that I had never been hungry in my life. Maybe a bit peckish, but never really hungry.

After a few days, the gnawing hunger transformed into a kind of quiet listlessness.

I was aiming for a week, but only made it 6 1/2 days because there was a fire drill and I was night security, and no way was I marching around the dorms all night with a flashlight without some caffiene and sugar.

It wasn't a spiritual thing, and i didn't have any kind of fasting-manifesto worked out, but it changed my worldview a bit.

If I skip breakfast, I no longer say, "man I'm hungry" when lunch rolls around four hours later.

(I think I lost a few pounds, but a Nurse firend told me that when fasting, the body shuts down non-essential stuff, so you burn less calories)

Young Indiana Jones
Time

I rather enjoyed the show for what they were... a coming of age story set in historical settings aimed at a young audience.

I rather liked the geezer. I think that's exactly how Dr. Jones would turn out... one eyed and grizzled, probably having had all sorts of crazy adventures until he was in that wheel chair huffing on oxygen tanks.
