Clearly TheBoost is crucifying him with religious zealotry for no other reason than the fact that Ray Rice is black.  If he were a white guy, Boost wouldn't be making such an issue out of this.

Just giving Boost a hard time, since everything is racist to him :)

Call me when Mrs. Rice is shot 36 times while fleeing by a squadron of white cops. Then we'll talk.

Remember the XFL?

The WWE has instituted rules to limit concussions and fires people immediately for domestic violence.

The XFL don't look so bad now.

to be fair, it is easier to limit concussions when everything is an act.

Fair point, but it's not the like the rules in the NFL are sacrosanct handed down by god.

...unless the rules are wearing a magic garment underneath your pads... eh Ender? huh??? :)

I wish the NFL would just tell the truth. Put the blame where it belongs.

"We in the NFL don't give a shit that Rice knocked his wife the fuck out. Doesn't bother us at all. We run an entertainment company where people pay to watch men play ball well, and Rice played ball very well. We made the decision that the desire of the majority of ball-enthusiasts to see Rice play ball well would result in more money than having to deal with people being mad at him for punching his fiance.

Obviously, now that the video is out, you ball-enthusiasts are more sad over the punching than you are happy to see Rice continue to run very quickly with a ball. His services are no longer advantageous to our ball-moving-money-profit margin. We are sure you ball-enthusiasts understand."

I'm honestly confused.

In February (?) 220 lb American Football Hero Ray Rice was suspended for two games for knocking his fiance out.

Yesterday, he was fired and indefinitely suspended for having knocked his fiance out back in February.

I'm honestly confused. Has something changed? None of the stories are clear. Can any sports-types here help me?

Hold on. You say he punched a woman and also refer to him as a hero?

Kinda poking fun that in America we very often call people who are good at moving balls around a field quickly 'heroes.'

What are you reading?

A while ago someone recommended The Stainless Steel Rat.

Anyone have any recommendations for fun Sci-fi novels in the same vein as Star Wars?

 "Deathstalker" by Simon R Green.

Space opera. Magic powers. Evil empire. Unlikely hero. Epic history.

Sometimes it's over the top beyond the strains of any credibility, but the author shows more creativity per chapter than some manage in their entire careers.

  • Then there's a series of three if you like it. Good stopping point.
  • If you like those you can read the next two. That's a good stopping point.
  • Then there's three 'prequal' novellas if you like what you've read so far.
  • If you're still going... there's three more "Next Generation" sequals.

TPM- Midnight showing, Palm Springs CA. My brother was in the newspaper for having been in line playing "Star Wars Trivial Pursuit" all day. After the movie, I drove four hours to Vegas, slept for three hours in my car, and got up to film a wedding (my job at the time). After the wedding I went to see TPM again.

AOTC- Midnight showing, Eureka, CA. Watched TPM projected on the side of the theater beforehand from the back of some dude's truck.

ROTS- Midnight showing, Cathedral City, CA. Bribed a dude 40 bucks to get my party  (me, dad, brother, best pal and his wife) seats together near the front. Enjoyed an excellent El Salvadorian meal instead of waiting in line. WORTH IT.  The theater had gotten some vintage Star Wars trailers, on for ESB and one for the ANH-SE to show before the movie.

 *smack upside the head*

You don't like El Salvadoran food?

I think CBS has done a TERRIBLE mistake NOT to release a standalone Bluray of The Cage this year - you know, the nice new transfer, seamless branching between the original and the CGI effects, a new audio commentary by Leonard Nimoy and the Okudas, a feature-length documentary, deleted scenes, bloopers .... It's Star Trek's 50 anniversary this year for Shatner's sake!

Honestly, How many people would buy that?

For all intents and purposes The Cage was a failure but the episode IS available on bluray already if people are desperate. It would be far more effort than it would be worth.

I think the majority would consider 2016 to be the real 50th Anniversary.

FAN: Happy 50th Anniversary of Star Trek!

FAN 2: Oh, did the show start 50 years ago?

FAN: No. It's when they shot the first episode.

FAN 2: Oh, like the pilot?

FAN: No. Like, a different pilot. Not of the show we're talking about.

Following that, why not go back to the 50th Anniversary of when Roddenberry came up with the idea? Or when he wrote the theme song lyrics? Of his first draft of THE Star Treak: The Adventures of James Kirkkiller.

14 Razors.

14 consecutive times, I've shaved in the shower then arced the used razor over the shower door, off the wall, and into the little trashcan.

Today the Streak ended.

You only use a razor once? You must be rich! Or have a beard made of steel wool...

I buy REALLY cheap razors. If I'm lucky I get two shaves.
