Why I dislike Adywans Star Wars revisted
Time

I know, I hate the SE and I know that George Lucas' are the only ones you can find. I am a major supporter of Harmy restoring the original cuts of Star Wars. I'm just saying that if you guys hate the SE (Which I do too) why do you like Adywan.

To Jonno

Yes I can finally do smooth edits, It just takes practice ;)

To TV Frink

I don't think my grammar was too bad.

Why I dislike Adywans Star Wars revisted
Time

Ok so I know that this site absolutely loves these edits and I can certainly see why; they give a glimpse of what the SE could have been. I will also admit that there are stuff that I like about it, mainly the fixing of mistakes 100% which I fully appreciate. But why oh why didn't he just leave it at that.

I have no doubt that Adywan is a very talented editor and computer modeler, and I cannot wait for him to work on ROTJ and the prequels. But he completely ignored the entire look and style of ANH and ESB and instead tried to make it look like a modern film.

Star Wars is a work of its time, it is a 70s film. Alot of the stuff Adywan has added doesn't work and messes with the overall visual style of the movie. Almost like George Lucas, he takes out stuff which George Lucas put in and just replaces it with similar maybe less dumb stuff and watch people say he's a genius. There are stuff that I like, like the enhanced lightsaber battle between Obi Wan and Darth Vader but unfortunately the bad outweighs the good. For example he completely changed the music cue at the death star battle and made rebel base look completely different. He also altered the destruction of Alderan and the added GGI explosion does not fit with the style of the movie, I'm sorry.

Also a lot of the music cues have been tampered with, and I find it slightly hypocritical that you guys do nothing but complain about the official SE when Adywan has done pretty much the same thing and you welcome that with open arms.

Minus the mistakes, I like the original unaltered Star Wars as it is and I don't like anyone tampering with it fan or George Lucas.

But again this is just my opinion, for those of you that like it more power to you.

Info Wanted: Which Star Wars edits do you recommend?
Time

Well here are fan edits which I think are good and that I have seen.

Star Wars: Episode II: Attack Of The Phantom - The Phantom Editor

This fan edit is so genius that is actually turns AOTC into a good movie, it is a old and classic fan edit. Also it comes with a commentary which will teach you how to become a better editor.

Star Wars: Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi The Dan Edit - Yads

A simple fan edit which just makes ROTJ into a stronger film, it removes alot of the jokey and childish elements and makes it a much darker film. Made by one of my good friends on this site.

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace Radical Re Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

TPM in my opinion is the best of the bad this is because it has scenes reminiscent of the OT; Especially the scenes with Qui Gon and Anakin. But it is still a badly written movie, with plot holes everywhere, bad dialogue, a boring plot, and “funny” characters. I plan to get rid of all of those bad elements and shine a light on the great things that make this film just bad instead of a catastrophe.

As our psychotic friend Mr Plinket said, the most glaring problem with TPM is the characters. There is no main character, and 90% of all the characters are as bland and as monotone as ever. The one character which I liked was Qui Gon because he is sort of a father figure to Anakin. I would like to make the main character Obi Wan, and make him the young adventurous jedi. But unfortuntly that is going to be next to impossible as all he does is complain a lot in the entire movie. But really this story should be about him. I will make the main character Anakin as it kind of has to be, but if any of you could say how I could make it Obi Wan please let me know.

I will trim nearly all of the politics and the story is now just that that Nute Gunray a descendant of the emperor of the Neimodian empire, wants to restore it and decides to invade the small planet of Naboo and the jedi are sent to investigate and protect her, they are not led by Darth Sidious and he is not in the movie. Padme is also not the queen.

I am going to re dub

1. Jar Jar Binks (The only Gungan in my version)

2. The Niemodians

3. Anakin Skywalker (Not a technical genius, just an oppressed slave)

4. Watto

I will need people to re dub these parts so I will explain what I want for each part

Jar Jar

A vicious fish warrior, my incarnation is a 180 degree turn. He is intelectual, calm, and a valuable ally, I need a voice which can encompass all those things.

The Niemodians

Similar to Jar Jar, only more upper class and imperialistic.

Anakin Skywalker

Similar to official just a better actor

Watto

Less antisemitistic

If you would like to help and voice one of these parts send me a private message and I will tell you what to say.

How To Create A Proffesional Smooth Edit
Time

Hello all

I want to create a Star Wars fan edit and I have tried on a number of occasions; But everytime I try I find my work to be jumpy and not up to scratch. Almost ever fan edit on FanEdit.Org looks proffesional, and I am constantly getting editing glitches and jumps, especially the audio editing which when the shot is without music seems to be great but when it does it sucks. There is also the matter of me not being very experienced with this kind of stuff and have never fully acomplished what I set out to acomplish. What I want to know is how you guys create proffesional looking edits and I create **** ones, what techniches do you use, and how can I use them.

I would also like to know how you create a new opening crawl because I CAN'T AFFORD AFTER EFFECTS and I only have Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11 which has no 3D effects, so is there any software which is cheap or free which has those features

The Revenge Of The Jedi - ROTJ Re-edit. A Fiery Editor Fan Edit. (* cancelled project *)
Time

Yes sorry, I haven't logged in for a while. I'm going to be using PAL DVD as I am British, ripped using DVD Decrypter and transcoded by Handbrake. I will restore the voices in the sandstorm scene by overdubbing them myself and using Goldwave to make them sound more like the characters voices. I haven't replied in a long time because I have been thinking of doing a Batman Forever edit. But anyway it should be released in about 2 weeks.
