That's a great idea! Keeping the spirit of the movie's overall intended form, but answering the lingering question of Sifo-dyas' role, while expanding Grievous to a richer character with an overarching purpose. It reminds me of something related (though more extreme) I posted years ago on Trooperman's edit page, which, quality or no, might be worth digging up for refreshed discussion fodder:

In my opinion Qui-gon ought to actually have been involved in the plot. Sifo Dyas' eventual explanation in extraneous material had him a Jedi who had premonitions of a conflict involving the death of many Jedi...I would go even further, having Qui-gon ordering clones knowing it would lead to the dissolving of the Jedi order and thus on the path to bringing balance to the Force. (even his last words betrayed him to be rather obsessed with bringing that balance). It could, MAYBE, be shown that in TPM Darth Maul was sent, in addition to what is already shown in that movie, to silence Qui-gon from potentially prematurely revealing the plans... but that's maybe a tall order.

Qui-gon should not be knowingly working in cooperation with the Sith. Though, following this idea, it could be revealed to him during the energy shield breather in the duel section of TPM. Conveniently, Obi-wan is out of earshot while Maul could conceivably let spill to Qui-gon the Sith's involvement, and his scheduled termination. This gives added focus and reason for Qui-gon to redouble his efforts to defeat him, and to plead with Obi-wan to go ahead with Anakin's training, which would lead, eventually, to the destruction of the Sith.

Interestingly, again in the EU, Grievous is made cybernetic with the help of a blood transfusion courtesy of Sifo Dyas! This in itself is...kinda lame, but maybe something in the same spirit could be transferred to Maul to keep his character relevant to the overall plot. At the same time, though, both characters are kinda unimportant to add additional and unnecessary convolution.

I've never really understood the reasoning that Obi-wan and Yoda ought to appear as idealized projections like Hayden-Anakin did. There are obvious crispy and darkish factors affecting Anakin that don't apply to the others.

It would seem established that once you become one with the Force and gain the ability to appear as an apparition, it is restricted as you appeared when you died. Not a problem for Yoda and Obi-wan! They have all their limbs! So either way, unless you want a horrifying vision of a reanimated, disarticulated corpse bidding Luke farewell (which would follow established "canon", and morbidly make the most sense...), there HAS to be an idealized, kind of wish-fulfillment ghost-projection of Anakin.

But which makes the most sense? A vision of what Anakin *could* have been, but never actually was? A kind of mystical plastic surgery? Is this perhaps more vain than the Force should be? Or do you go the route of a vision of what Anakin *has* been, the Force reaching back to the "good man who was destroyed" (debatable though it may be exactly how "good" he really was)? Or is that still the Force appealing to Anakin's vanity?

Personally, I prefer the idea of going back to a younger version of himself. But it's not a slam dunk case by any stretch.

Hey guys. Sorry, this is a little outta the blue, and....terribly specific... but I thought of an interesting bit related to the whole Maul=Grievous idea. Basically, it's a bit of dialogue that takes place after their duel. It's Maul-grievous's final death rattle. Something to the effect of:

"Again you have defeated me, Kenobi. But I am slain with the knowledge that the Jedi are destroyed"

Something like this would give Obi (and the audience?) an extra shock and perhaps propel the story forward a little faster, having the conspiracy start to reveal itself to him a bit earlier. Also, it gives Maul a little bit of personal revenge and twisted closure....

Doable? Worth it? Waste of time?

I'm dying to know how the new Vader will be used! New sequences? Altered existing footage? Any hints?? ....no? Aw, phooey.

I'm also interested to know whether it's been considered to remove the score from portions of the Mustafar duel...having stretches with only the soundscape to carry it could very well be quite effective...not to mention the fact it's kind of an OT tradition!

Okay, the first way to look at this is real-world costume design practicality: Obi-wan: major character, a jedi, jedi are space samurai, costume done. Extras are more afterthought. Second way in-universe: the jedi (like monks) wear humble peasant costume befitting their non-materialistic world-view. But i really think Obi-wan's look was developed with more the mindset "this is what a space samurai would wear" , a later stipulation being "he's in hiding, nothing too flashy"

Y'know, I have to chime in here: As far as I remember, Ben's costume originally was designed to be reminiscent of a samurai's garb, ie, a warrior's. The outer robe is fairly generic (the jedi being rather humble in most regards), suited, I think to disguise...notice Ben is always very well-wrapped in public. In short, Obi-wan's costume was always meant to be his Jedi outfit!

If you look at Star Wars as myth, and then compare it to other stories, there are several instances throughout mythology of heroes slaughtering children (Herakles murdering his own children, Atreus killing and then feeding his nephews to his unknowing brother, Sigmund killing his unworthy nephews at his sister's demand, etc).

While I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a universal mythological motif, that every hero must encounter, it is present, and something the hero deals with, either to continuous downfall to oblivion, or to redemption (Herakles did it with his 12 labours, Anakin did with being a miserable cyborg for 25 years).

I really like that video, Brash! Very fast-paced and exciting.

I'm gonna guess the worms were part of an idea Lucas had of having a progression of "layers" of bad guys, catch one to find they were working under a hidden tier of superiors...start with worms, end with Sidious!

Like much of Lucas's output, interesting idea, questionable execution.

I *love* Jar Jar's new voice! It gives him a new aspect to his character and a an edge, but there's still a recognizable hint of the old voice, an homage, almost...Can't wait to hear more! I understand reservations towards "earthiness", but that's a little unavoidable...besides, Jar Jar ought to have a more specific accent fitting his rather, er, specific character.

I'm less enthusiastic about the Feds' voices, it's an interesting take, but I personally would picture something a little more sinister in their vocal character.

All in all, I'm loving taking fan editing to the next level with voice actors and dubbing! It's quite exciting thinking of the possibilities and new story avenues afforded by it. Now on to Anakin and Padme!

I'm guessing you're being intentionally vague, not wanting to tip your hand too soon, but what deleted scenes are you hoping to have available for integration? For Ep II I'm aware of an additional Jedi raid during the Geonosis battle, as well as various quick little character bits of dialogue, but what specifically do you have your hope for? C'mooon...
