Info Wanted: Best edits of Ep 2 and 3?

I was really unimpressed with Attack of the Phantom, but what do I know? ;-)

I actually have yet to see a perfect edit of Attack of the Clones but Attack of the Phantom is as close as it gets for me. However, in my honest opinion, I disagreed with the Phantom editor's decision to not have a "real" opening crawl and to keep Yoda using his lightsaber. Also, the edit is on the older side and has slightly lower AV quality than newer ones. I'm betting that the best Attack of the Clones edit will turn out to be The Brash Cut or Shroud of the Dark Side (note that I haven't seen the rough cut yet).

Idea: So how come no one has made a less-painful fan edit of the Star Wars Holiday Special?
Time

Trooperman said:

Yes, that's the only way to save the Holiday Special.

Here's one step further: Start the movie with Lumpy sitting down at his viewing machine, and then play a completely different movie like Ben-Hur or something.

EDIT: As the movie plays, the wookie's head appears in silhouette and he grunts during the funny parts.

Ben Hur...LOL...How about Metropolis or the Hidden Fortress? After all, they inspired Star Wars. The wookie silhouette sounds like how Mystery Science Theater 3000 was.

Info Wanted: Pittrek's "pure" '04 DVD/GOUT hybrid OT project...

Your project sounds interesting, pittrek. You might even want to start your own thread. In fact, I personally am actually interested in a hybrid of the original movie with simple FX clean ups (kinda like the Indiana Jones DVDs). Perhaps this hybrid could be a significant release on its own...(note that this is just my personal opinion).

Hi, Alluminium Falcon, I'm not touching the special effects - they'll look the same as they look on the GOUT release

Got it. I'm eagerly going to follow this project's progress. The more 2004/GOUT theatrical reconstructions, the merrier.

STAR WARS TRILOGY The Very Special Edition (Feature length parody compilation) Version 1.0 available now.
Time

Sorry to bump. Just watched it on youtube and loved it! From start to finish I was laughing (yes even during the yoda scene). I was just wondering if you are planning a DVD release for this parody and if you're going to add clips from the third Robot Chicken Star Wars special and Family Guy's It's a Trap! Also, I agree with BarBar Jinkx, Troops needs to be put in this.

...no, there's anothe  Who am I kidding, there's no hope to be found around these parts.

If worse comes to worse we'll go papercraft 3D HD VHS:

Yay for papercraft: the ultimate 3D experience!!!

Oh and I couldn't find the clip either...

First I am converting a 1080P version to 3D, just to make sure that the project is even realistic.  After which I will convert the VHS and do a lot of converting and hopefully I can turn the 1984 version into a 3D blu-ray.

The first very low quality version can be found here, I would suggest keeping it small in size, like for an ipod.  http://megaupload.com/?d=PVIDWGQC

...but, on a separate note, kamyio, are you going to release the 1080p conversion to 3D as a separate project too. It should prove interesting... I don't think anyone has done anything like it before.

I wonder then, given the pretty big red shift, does this date to 1980, or was it a print that repertoire cinema had or a private collector had that dates maybe to the mid-80s instead? Print pinkness is a sign of aging and shouldn't be there if it is 1980. I just assumed it was some weird video transfer thing that happened, but you may be on to something.

I don't think it's from the mid-80s because Fritz's website say it was bought in 1982 in Qatar. Maybe you were right in your first assumption that it was some weird video transfer thing. Another possibility is there could have been some error made while the tapes were being copied.

"THE MANIAC" (bonus) - 1:20

Sorry for being ignorant but what's "THE MANIAC"?

One of three 8mm shorts that was on a reel marked "Star Wars" (that I had bought off of eBay).  It is not Star Wars related, otherwise.  It required some minor editing to prepare for the DVD.  Depending on the reaction it gets, I may or may not release the other two.

It is a world premiere.

Cool! I'm eagerly awaiting this release!

Hey I just had a radical idea or an edit of the Holiday Special. What if Lumpy watches some Star Wars cartoon instead of the Jefferson Starship so it will be kind of like when he watches the Boba Fett cartoon later. For the Star Wars cartoon, he could watch a clip from the animated series Star Wars: Droids or some clip from The Clone Wars series (kind of like an educational program about the clone wars, maybe with new narration). Although, a weirder idea would to have Lumpy watching the Princess Leia's holographic message from A New Hope...(just kidding)

OK, the clips are encoded and sent. Thanks, Chewtobacca, for your effort.

A big thanks to Harmy and Chewtobacca for both their hard work.

I second Murry's thanks. I appreciate all your hard work, Harmy and Chewtobacca. It's good that there's finally a new reconstruction of the theatrical version of ROTJ. While ESB has been reconstructed by PaulisDead and Adywan, ROTJ really has only been reconstructed by OCPMovie and he didn't have access to the GOUT at the time. Pls. understand that I think OCPMovie's work was impressive but it is really nice to have this new version.

Hairy Hen's 5.1 mix has material not in the original, so Harmy decided not to include it because this is a preservation -- or were you thinking of including the French and Spanish audio?

Sorry I'm new here. What material in Hairy Hen's mix isn't original? Oh and btw this project looks fantastic. Finally a definitive ROTJ Reconstruction!
