Yes; TML. How old are you? I'm guessing 14 or 15. I'm curious to see if I'm younger than you :)
EDIT: No guys, I'm not Alfred Hitchcock. I'm not nearly that old, quite young in fact.
That's odd. All my DVD players pass through layer breaks seamlessly. There was only one time when all of them stuttered before passing through a layer break, and that was in my burned Editdroid SW1977 DVD.
TPM= WORSE YODA EVER (especially that one point when he was talking to Obi-Wan and they used very lackluster CGI)

:-/
That's odd that even a new player would pause at layer breaks. Are you talking about when playing factory made DVDs or burned DVDs?
Sorry I misread your post. I thought you were planning to shrink it to the exact size of a BD-50 to spread it around... I actually think a lossless format would be nice; although, for people with less hard drive space (me NOT included), it may be considered to release a lossy version (perhaps 9GB or 25GB).
Out of curiosity, which does everyone think has the best looking DVNR-reduced transfer of all:
I'm just curious. By reading this thread, it seems the consensus that the JSC looks best, so I just want to make sure I'm right.
After hearing your generally good comments about it, I decided to try the series out myself. I am pretty impressed. It actually has likable characters and engaging plots. Consider me a future frequent viewer. :-)

Even a dual-layer DVD wouldn't be capable of containing two hours of *uncompressed* video. You guys want to mail each other DV cassettes, fine, but expecting an online upload is pretty unrealistic.
It certainly sounds unrealistic at first, but if the capture is converted to lagarith instead of uncompressed, it would probably be about the size of a BD-50 and people upload those to newsgroups all the time. (Just a thought!)
That sounds like the most practical idea Chewtobacca; though I would push the compression to about the size of a BD 25 (smaller yet pretty good quality). If needed, perhaps a quick and dirty (no menus or frills) dual-layer DVD can be completed for the raw capture. With those two sources, people should be able to do whatever they want with them.
All right... weird. I remuxed your Blu-Ray into another Blu-Ray (not an AVCHD) using TSMuxer and now I have it working. I have to say it looks surprisingly good for being GOUT-sourced, DJ. It holds up well enough on my TV screen. Of course, grain is more apparent and it doesn't look cutting edge HD, but it's certainly impressive. I enjoyed it.
However, I also notice pixelation in black/dark areas like space. I'm not sure how you can improve this. Ah well. It seems as though you should use as little compression as possible.
As I said before, I think a DVD-9 sized Blu-Ray would be too small since the basic DVD is already a DVD-9. You really should shoot for a BD-25.
Judging from the quality presented here, I might just skip the V3 and go straight to this one, which makes it easier since I have a Blu-Ray burner ready to go.
I did that... it didn't work. I just got audio not video. Weird. What model PS3 are you using? I have the original 60GB with Backwards Compatibility.
I also might as well ask a question that I have had for some time: will the MBR editions' video readily sync to all their respective audio tracks?
Also, I am currently trying to use TSMuxer to re-mux the m2ts of the Blu-Ray sample into a new Blu-Ray.
dudefromthenorth, are you using a PS3 or standalone player?
All right. I'm trying that right now... It's weird. I've successfully burned AVCHDs and Blu-Rays in the past, for example Adywan's HD Releases
EDIT: I just tried using TSMuxer to make an AVCHD. It now plays on my PS3 but with no video... :-( I'm not quite sure if it's just my PS3 being finicky. I may try using TSMuxer to make it into another Blu-Ray, perhaps that will work.
I like the idea of not having it in the movie at all. However, what I would love is if they put in a place where we couldn't see the Falcon, then your idea of the floating droid. I never liked Han stepping on Jabba's tail...
That's what I tried to do, DJ. It didn't work. The stream appeared as unsupported.
I once again tried the two test discs on my PS3 (I burned it twice) after updating it. It still doesn't seem to work for me... It shows as a data disc with the BDMV and the Certificate folders. I looked under BDMV -> Stream-> and it says unsupported content... Perhaps it's an error exclusive to the PS3... Has anyone else tried it?
Wow! That was fast, Lee! From your screenshots, this looks like an awesome project. Are you planning to upload to newsgroups?

Haha that's pretty funny. Hope your friend enjoys the edit once you're done.
I knew I needed to burn at UDF and version 2.5 but thanks for reminding me. Anyway, I tested it on my PS3 and it doesn't work :-( I tried burning it again and it still didn't work... However, I haven't updated my PS3 in a while, I'll update then try once more.
EDIT: By the way, I have successfully played home made AVCHDs/Blu-Rays on my PS3 before, if anyone's curious.
I like your reasoning, Spence. We do not need an overly happy ending. We need to empathize with the characters and eventually see them come into full character arcs.
I'm downloading it now. I'll test it was soon as I can.
Jeez, I forgot that people spent a whole thread begging not to kill Lando. Although, in all honesty, it probably wouldn't work well for ROTJ. After all, Star Wars is a story where good comes through. Lando wouldn't deserve to die; although, I'd be astonished if someone killed off Han. ;)
Yeah; I guess so. Anyway, I always was weirded out that they didn't bother to give Luke a new name, while Leia had the last name Organa.
Ehh... I have no problem with Lando dying. It would be more dramatic....
