The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

Replaced Kylo Ren’s line “I never lied to you” with “You were right” for more intuitive and precise continuity with TLJ even as the scene retcons it. In that film, it is Rey herself who supplies the information that her parents “were nobody.”

Kylo Ren clearly wanted to take credit for what Rey said.

(…though, I would suggest the line can be changed to “We were wrong. Your parents did love you. They left you… to protect you,” since I never saw Rey’s TLJ arc as about “being insignificant in general,” but more that she needed to come to terms with her parents being bad people and stop caring about them, the “nobody” part is there not to say that Rey is insignificant, but only there so she would no longer use any destiny or purpose to feed her internal lie that her parents loved her and thought she was valuable so she’d feel loved, happy.)

Removed talk about Leia (and possibly Luke, depending on one’s interpretation of the scene) having known about Rey being a Palpatine.

The Leia thing is there to show to Rey that being related to Palpatine doesn’t inherently make her worthless.

I had just came up with the idea of removing the mention of Leia from Finn’s “It’s something only Rey and the general would understand!” in a separate version of Hal’s edit, for those who choose to watch poppasketti’s TLJ edit which removes the “flying Leia” scene instead of watching Hal’s TLJ edit which does keep the scene, since Finn would not be familiar with Leia’s Force-sensitivity because of the aforementioned scene removal in poppasketti’s TLJ edit. Is this possible?

Unless you’re suggesting the characters also be CG, in which case I guess that could be tried out but I’m not sure how that would look compared to the rest of the film.

I stated that the recent live-action remake of The Lion King used the Unity game engine to animate 99% of its scenes in the film; in case you didn’t know, the filmmakers made the CGI for the remake look super photorealistic, it looks almost exactly like in real life.

My idea is that the film will be edited to make it appear as if Luke had been training with Yoda in the time period between ESB and this film, which explains how Luke became a better, more powerful Jedi in-between.

You said it yourself, that Luke isn’t as powerful as the prequel-era Jedi.

Also, regarding scenes you want such as the canon comics version of Vader’s “No!”, I suggested in Hal’s thread for TRoS that they create new scenes or stuff like Adywan did with the OT; however this should require collaboration, since I don’t think you have enough resources for new scenes matching the quality of the PT and OT, respectively.

One idea I have is using the Unity game engine, I recall it being used to animate 99% of every scene in the recent live-action remake of The Lion King.

Just to pull an idea RogueLeader had in the TROS ideas thread for everyone’s consideration…

Kind of building on the idea of the crackly Skywalker saber, I think it could be interesting if during Kylo and Rey’s duel on the Death Star, that Rey’s saber was almost becoming “overloaded” from the constant saber-clashing, and starts shorting out by the end of the duel. For example, in the shot where Rey sort of shakes her hand, you could have the saber fluttering in and out. Then finally, when Kylo keeps hammering away at Rey while she is on the ground, we could see the saber give out while Kylo is raising his to deliver the final blow. This would give a reason for why Rey grabs Kylo’s saber and stabs him with it, rather than just using her own.

I think it would add an interesting aspect to the duel that we haven’t really seen before, where our characters are dealing with a malfunctioning weapon. It also gives Rey a practical reason for why she inevitably builds her own.

This is something I really think would be great to fully realise. 😃
Hopefully it can find a place in this edit.

If this is something feasible that someone here is able to do, it would be one of the best changes possible. I’m still frustrated that JJ completely ignored Luke’s saber getting broken in half.

Are you kidding? The fact that it was fixed and even has a thing attaching the two broken pieces of the lightsaber serves as a visual reminder for Rey’s failure in TLJ, sort of like Kylo Ren’s scar which symbolizes how his actions of killing Han will always be there.

Maybe it’s the (in the British sense, mind you) republican in me but I don’t get the obsession with inherited power. Sure, Luke’s dad was a powerful force user, but we have no indication that Sheev Palpatine, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Mace Windu, Ahsoka and so on came from any family background of using the Force.

Also in TPM Qui-Gon implies to Anakin’s mother that the Jedi screen for children in the Republic to see if they’re Force-sensitive or not, implying they look for children anywhere in the Republic, not bloodlines (“Had he been born in the Republic, we would have identified him early, and he would have become Jedi, no doubt…he has the way. But it’s too late for him now, he’s too old.”); and in AotC, it’s stated having personal attachments would get Anakin expelled if caught.

This creates the inference that most Force-users don’t come from powerful lineages.
