That has nothing to do with teaching or imparting knowledge at all. I was referring to how kids think they’re important and then are thrown into the real world where no one cares if you live or die.

I just feel like you make a lot of generalizations based on your own personal experiences. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t take pleasure in that. I legitimately feel bad for you. But your experience is not the norm as far as I know. And so saying parents teach their kids stuff that’s either wrong or meaningless is just something I can’t agree with.

Of course there’s bad parents, who are an entirely different story.

There actually is no objective truth or meaning to anything. No philosopher worth his weight would tell you otherwise. Meaning is what we attribute to things, not something that things have and we discover.

I said “arguable” because it’s dependent on what you want to use the term “objective” for. Just because life has no real “objective meaning” does not mean it also doesn’t have meaning in a specific sense. There are things that make me happy - those have meaning to me.

It’s really hard to tell when you’re

a) joking
b) being purposefully hyperbolic
c) dead serious

All three posts read the same.

I don’t have any fancy solutions but I do everything physical. I don’t trust any cloud service.

1. Everything is on my home PC.
2. Everything is backed up to two separate external HDs (one at home, one at work).
3. Everything is on my phone, which is how I actually listen to it.

Like I said I don’t know where it stops, but it certainly doesn’t ruin my day.

I was talking about anything that appears choppy, but specifically the transitions back and forth between the two different scenes. Sounds like it works though.

Other than occasional bureaucratic issues, I don’t see what the big deal is.

Our children have my last name. Easier than hyphenating. And I never understood that anyway because what happens down the road when my daughter also wants her name hyphenated? How long will the last name get some day?
