I don't really care if you like this movie or not, and I don't really care about the movie that much.  It might suck, and even if it doesn't, it's still just a movie.  A movie I had no involvement in, and therefore I have no personal attachment to.  Hate it, love it, whatever you want, I don't care.  But I'm sick of your moaning and bitching all over the forums.

You seem like a very angry person.  Obviously I don't know you, but your posts always seem angry to me.  Even when I agree with you, I just want to say, "calm down, man."

And the millions of people who watch care.  As Warb said, sports are a diversion.  A way to enjoy life.  Just like music, books, movies.  Just like Star Wars.  I don't have any problem with people not liking sports, just like I don't have any problem with people not liking Star Wars, Douglas Adams, or John Tesh (well, maybe John Tesh).  But there's nothing wrong with liking sports either.

Not that it's the same thing, but have you tried watching on TV with friends, especially with friends who have a rooting interest?  Or in a crowded sports bar during the playoffs where everyone is pulling for the same team?

It doesn't bother me if you guys don't like sports.  But did you see the game last night?  Especially that Tiger Woods?  He's grrrrrreat!

I blame my father.  He passed his love of Chicago sports on to me because that's where we were from.  I think some of it stems from accessibility, at least it used to.  I'm old enough that when I was growing up we had no internet or satellite TV, so most of the games that we watched, most of what I read in the paper, and most of what I listened to on radio was local team based.  Now, you don't have to be so focused on where you live.

The great thing about the changes in accessibility is I can now easily follow my teams even though I moved away.

As far as college goes, I had season tickets to basketball and by going to all the games you start to feel even more connected to the team.  When I talk with my old college buddies the conversation is usually dominiated by how the team is doing these days.

Having said all that, I understand that sports are just a diversion and not ultimately important in the grand scheme of things.  I don't get too depressed when my teams lose.  Although I might cry tears of joy if the Cubs ever win a world series again...

When you crack wise like that I'm tempted to use a non-word.

Thanks for that.  I've heard so much complaining about this movie from people who haven't even seen it yet.

I like it, but I think the blue half should be more obviously blue (even if it's not 100% accurate).  I didn't notice it at first.

I think 8 could be enough, and 16 would take a month to complete the tournament.  Although not perfect, I could see just having the top 8 BCS rated teams compete.  Sure, it wouldn't be ideal, but you wouldn't have these problems where undefeated teams like Boise State, TCU, and Cincy get left out.

I don't like the idea of automatic qualifiers in college football.  You end up with a team like Nebraska, which plays in the weak Big 12 North, only needing to upset one team in the conference championship to screw everything up.  Almost happened this year.

I can't remember the exact formula, but I don't think it's only based on polls.  There are also computer ratings that take into account strength of schedule and won-loss record, but the whole thing is still a joke.

I have a passing interest in college football, but college basketball is really where it's at for me.  And the tournament is a large reason for that.

Back on topic, I'm interested in Avatar based on Cameron's track record and the positive buzz, but it doesn't mean it won't be terrible.  And I'm not really interested in 3D.

I agree with you Warb, and my main argument is this: All the other college football divisions have a playoff.  There's absolutely no reason the top division can't do it as well.
