Secret Cinema - Empire Strikes Back in London
Time

I've been to two SC events in the past (Blade Runner and Lawrence of Arabia) and I can assure everyone that the steep price will be worth every penny. It will be like being inside ESB.

My best guess is they'll turn the biggest ice-rink in London into the Hoth rebel base, complete with fullscale spaceships, med bays, ops centers and a full compliment of rebel personnel plus lookalike actors for all the main cast. Every conceivable prop detail and set decoration will gone into to match ESB.

You'll probably get an hour to wonder round, buy some blue milk, play 3D chess and listen to Max Reebo's band. Then the whole place will suddenly be stormed by the Empire/Darth Vader and you plus the rest of the ticket-holders will be evacuated onto a transport, and then be shown ESB as an "In flight" movie.

That's ^ the kind of experience these guys put on (But only my guess based on previous experience).

...you can't stand people talking about things that are more then two days old because they are not the hip and trendy

I am now going to only post in threads that are hip and trendy. So If you see one of my posts in a thread, that means it's on trend.

Congratulations this thread is now the bomb.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

I think the Uk equivelant might be a bit like "Carlsberg Special Brew" (Also see "Tennants Super"). A super-strength Lager mostly associated with winos and tramps...

^ Love how it lists the amount of units you should safely drink and then right along side, the bit where it says that one can of Special-Brew is about double that limit x-D

But if ML is something teenagers drink just to get smashed quickly and cheaply, then that would be more like "White Lightning" Cider...

btw, I LOLed at this...

The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)

I'm sure you're tired of hearing from me, but here's another thought:

I can't find where you see that the original Tusken Raider shout just after knocking Luke down was not originally present.  All I can find is that originally the actor simply held up the club for a moment and pressed his attack.  Later, when re-cut (in other words, after the Lost Edit was abandoned), the editors ran his motions back and forth to create the familiar shaking of the club in the air.  What if you simply removed the back and forth, showing only the brief wave of the club with some shorter Tusken yell?  It seems like it wouldn't look as odd as what you did put, and would possibly be closer to the original cut.

Yes I'm aware of that. The existing footage that the loop is made from is only a few frames long sadly, and therefore unuseable in isolation. I was considering just keeping the looped version rather than ruin that scene.

I meant easily visible in terms of both cut and availability. Chimes is supposedly getting a new deal for Blu-ray and Criterion is rumored. I haven't been able to see it decently in years.

Oh right I see. The MrBongo DVD release of Chimes, is okay, not amazing but light-years ahead of the quality of any other DVD transfer the film has ever had. I'd reccomend it until something better comes along. Here's hoping Criterion sort that one out.

Someone should license MGM's Stranger print. It is very clean and would blow away the Kino Blu.

I was very pleased with the Kino Blu-Ray but then I've not seen a print of The Stranger and only had my previous diabolically bad 'Cinema Classics' Blu-Ray to compare it to.

Warner sits on their rear as far as Ambersons is concerned.

I've seen a pristine print of Ambersons and I thought the Warners DVD did a very good job of representing that. But it would be so easy for them to put it out in HD, why don't they!

The Trial has now got a great looking HD release from StudioCanal and 'F for Fake' has got good releases from Eureka! and Criterion.

Macbeth has a blu-Ray release but I've heard conflicting things about the quality? Plus The Lady From Shanghai has a Blu-Ray listed on Amazon but again I'm not sure what the image is like. Scratch that I've just seen this TCM Blu-Ray release of Shanghai listed on Blu-Ray.com, it looks amazing! I'm ordering a copy nright now.

I downgraded my computer to get this POS off of it.  that is right this program came with my computer and I paid money to replace it with XP.

For f**ks sake DrCrow! Will you stop cluttering up off-topic with these old threads. Is there really a need to reopen an 8 year old thread about Windows bloody Vista.

Agree with all the rest of the stuff about Orson Welles because he is the greatest person to have ever lived! (Hope I'm not understating that sentiment LOL) but...

Touch of Evil

Orson's last picture that is visible in some state of it's intended self.

...what? He made at least 3 more masterpieces after TOE. Shame 'Chimes at Midnight' hasn't found it's way onto Hi-Def yet.
