Star Wars Digital HD Release .... April 10th
Time

I'be got my fingers crossed for the PT deleted scenes from the DVD to appear in HD. They're listed under "legacy content," but hopefully sourced from a master and not just literally from the DVD.

I highly doubt it. "Legacy" in this instance seems to mean "Some old tat". If they were in HD surely they'd be trumpeting that fact from roof tops.

I'm really angry about this. Disney have been doing so much stuff that is right in the past year. It's felt like a new dawn for Star Wars fandom... after "the dark times" but no it's still the same old bullsh*t.

I almost wouldn't mind if they'd said "Okay we know these arent the original films... but never mind that... here they are in a new format!". But to ignore the "Bantha in the room" over this release is an insult. They must know how excited fans have been by all the remastering rumours, and how this announcement will crush their spirits? Shame on you Disney, I thought you were better than this.

At least the bonus content looks pretty much worthless, so I don't have to miss out on anything, when I boycott them ;-)

Surely Jesus is dead though right?

he rose from the dead, and though his body was elevated to a higher form than our regular bodies, it was still his body.

But his mortal body was dead. It still had the fatal injuries. He/it walked the earth for a time but he wasn't alive in the usual sense.

A thought that's vaguely related just occured... Oscar Wilde's 'The Selfish Giant' is a beautiful poetic story featuring the wounded risen body of Jesus. I loved this animated version when I was a kid...

The Star Wars: The Lost Workprint (* unfinished project - lots of info *)

^ I realised that last test was all messed up. If you look closely it gives the appearance that the docking-bay is about 10 stories up. I've now re-leveled all the layers so they all start much lower and maintain the perspective properly throughout. Here is the final shot in the full sequence...

I've added a few more soundFX too of Han and his chair.

^ Thanks y'all.

Finished up the animated matte...

This matte was lot of fun to do. I seperated the still of Mos-Eisley up into several layers and moved them at different speeds. Then added the Docking-Bay lip from the SE shot. Moving simple 2D elements to create the illusion of 3D movement is cool stuff!

^ Thanks, food for thought.

Finished rotoscoping Han, Chewie and Falcon out of the starfield on that take off shot (Took the best part of a day to complete the 46 frames needed LOL). I've also slotted in a temp shot of Mos Eisley (I'll create a custom animated matte for the final version) and added some temp SoundFX of the Falcon taking off...

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

I think the animated short Tie Fighter everyone went nuts about was created in CGI. Not done traditionally. He only shaded it to make it look like it was cel based.

I highly doubt he physically drew it on cels and shot it on film.

No.

Wether he drew it with a digital-stylus, or an ink-pen, cell by cell... it makes little difference, it's still Cell-Based trad-animation.

CGI means "Computer Generated Imagery". Images rendered by a computer based on human instructions. The final 2D images in a CGI show like Rebels are a computer rendered representation of 3D models. The tie fanfilm was drawn in 2D originally, just like animation was been done a century ago.

It's just dfferent tools. Just because a computer was involved doesn't make something "CGI".

Although he did use a 3D refrence to underpin some shots as he describes in this video...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0taAlZ_MxA

...still every pixel you see in those shots are drawn by his hand.

^ Yes, as with my ST:Reunion edit, PracticalFX of films from this period do feature matte lines, which is a bonus for a faneditor. Plus I love the look of oldskool compositing.

If anybody knows of such a shot... I need a reasonably hi-res shot of the Hanger bay rim, from roughly this angle...

It really only needs to be the rim/lip of the hanger bay surrounding wall. The rest of Mos Eisley I can "easily" fill in myself. A screengrab of the SE shot might just do.

Also a slightly more unusual request... Anybody know of a shot of the Falcon's engines?

Obviously the finished shot would have the hangar bay

where is the wall from the docking bay?

Face plam :-(

oh,i´m sorry.

i don´t see this....shame on me...

LOL, that's alright.

Started creating the front layers for the shot. Chewbacca's hair is a joy to work with.

A VERY rough proof-of-concept for arranging the footage in such a way that I don't need to use the SE shot of the Falcon taking off...

https://vimeo.com/123892623

(Password: fanedit.org)

I've taken two shots of Chewie and Han from later in ANH, reversed them, cropped the shot of Chewie and done a rough auto-chroma-key to add a random shot of a desert, animated to look as if the Falcon is lifting off. Obviously the finished shot would have the hangar bay and be matted by hand. Also I'd add SoundFX of Han rushing into the cockpit while the camera is on Chewie to really "sell" it and engine noises to properly time with the new sequence of shots.

Almost forgot, I retimed the shot of the Troopers so the Falcon flys away a little later.

I think this could work :-)

There seems to be this arrogance that fills the hearts of so many of them... that somehow they are smarter than their foolish theistic peers.

God cannot be proved, he/she just has to be literally "Taken on faith", so I think some non-believers see that as a foolish thing. But they are forgetting that God can't be disproved either. So it's not about intelligence, it's about belief.
