I've not seen Padalecki in action enough to make a retroactive prediction but it would have been difficult to be worse than Hayden.

I know Lucas managed to draw leaden performances from even gifted actors but I haven't seen Hayden good in anything of significance.

Hayden was really good in "Life as a House".

For Padalecki: If you're interested in Horror/Drama I recommend "Supernatural", for it is a really well written and good acted show. Maybe if you like "Buffy", you'll like this one, too.

Looks like someone is beating you to it.

Trilogy of well written and acted films which tie into the original trilogy or it didn't happen ;-)

Like someone somewhere in this forum mentioned, that the other kid, that has been seen in the making of TPM, would have been better than Jake Lloyd, so do I think, that Padalecki could have been better than Christensen. He was cast, but didn't win. And maybe he would have also failed under the so called "direction" by a certain Mr. Lucas.

I thought, it would be fun, if someone would make a trilogy of novels or even films, that are well written (and/or acted), that would tell the story of the prequels, but not under the title Star Wars and with other character-names (to avoid copyright issues), maybe not even in the science fiction genre.

Well, I am not sure you can say it is a "German movie"... It was made by an American studio, featured a mostly American cast, began with a British director who was fired for going over budget and replaced by a famous German director who decided to move filming to Germany. So, while ultimately it was filmed in Germany and directed by a German, I am not sure that really makes it a German film.

Sometimes you should grant us something, too... ;)

But you're right. imdb says also USA.
But the movie failed at the boxoffice and maybe that's the reaspn almost nobody knows it. But I really like it. It's more of a dialogue movie than an action movie.

I'm trough with the Portal 2 single-player-mode. It was fun, tough short. I agree that the test chambers are more fun, than getting behind the scenes, but I'm definitely going to replay it a lot.

I'm really happy with the german translation and voices. Wheatly is dubbed by Tobias Meister, one of my favorite Voiceactors, who has done the voices of Brad Pitt, Jack Black, Robert Downey Junior, Kiefer Sutherland, Gary Sinise, as well as Darth Maul in Episode I and Yoda in Episodes II, III and Clone Wars (both series).

Graphic Violence Warning but well worth a watch if you haven't already seen it.

Oh my god, this thing is hilarious. I've seen it about a year and a half ago. A friend of mine got dressed as the Ginosaji for Halloween. I laughed my ass off.
I could watch it again. And again, and again, and again....

I've been waiting for something more to come from this since I first saw it a couple years ago.  It's so awesome, whatever it is.

What's In The Box?

Wow. A nice one, although I don't know what it really was.
And though I don't know Half Life (since I was never into shooters) it is fun to see the logos of Black Mesa, Aperture Science (Portal, and Half Life, too?) and Hanso Foundation (Lost) on the fake website of Babel Research. Maybe Weyland Yutani could have been put there, too. Oh, and Umbrella Corp., but since the Babel Research stuff is set in the future it's not possible...

I had to do a double take when I saw the poster for Atlas Shrugged Part 1 (can you see what I see?) :

They made a movie of that book? I only know about that book because of Matt Ruff's references in his novel "Sewer, Gas and Electric: The Public Works Trilogy" (wich also had some nice SW references, to stay on topic) , which makes me think: who the f*ck is going to watch this?

Help Wanted: Does ANYBODY have a rip of the Ewoks LP? (for the 2 Ewok films)

Odd... that description matches exactly with the bootleg I mentioned in the OP, but you say the quality is great. I might look into it. Maybe there's a reason no one posts the official version.

Maybe you have the same problem I have with trying to find Bruce Broughton's "Young Sherlock Holmes". Im looking for the Intrada Double-CD, but the rips you find are all far from good, but noisy as hell.

There is a bootleg CD-R out there, which is a rip of the LP. The quality is awesome. Try to find it by looking for "Ewoks - Caravan of Courage, Battle for Endor" as a lossless rip (APE, Flac etc.). It has 17 tracks, the 14 from the LP plus 3 tracks from other sources (not Ewok, but SW related).

The "small grey horse with the long ears" might help you.

Finally, His Dark Materials, re-done from scratch (which kinda sucks since the first adaptation of The Golden Compass had a great cast), with almost anyone other than the director of American Pie at the helm.
This. And maybe an adaptation that isn't afraid to use the Church as the antagonist would be nice.

What is it with His Dark Materials? I don't get it. I read the first book, except the last 20 pages, because I got so annoyed with that wiseass kid. She comes to conclusions, where no hints have lead her to. The story is okay, not good, but not that bad, but that kid needs to be given a hiding.

I'd love to see a TV-show based on Neil Gaiman's "Sandman", but only if it's true to the comic, and since most of the comic-movies or -series aren't, I'd rather pass on that one. But it would have great potential and could spawn so many spinoffs: Death, Lucifer, Books of Magic, even Hellblazer (f*ck the movie).

I love the nod to Gaiman's "Death" in Supernatural (Season 2, Episode 1 "In My Time of Dying").

Another comic book based series I'd like to see would be Bill Willingham's "Fables".

Even Though This Thread Title Has Billy Dee Williams In It, The Thread Has Almost Nothing To Do With Star Wars

Okay, since you tend to remember more of the bad things, than the good ones, maybe my recall of that convention is not 100% correct. Still, if I was Mr. Williams, and some Fan asks me f.e. what it was like to work with Mark Hamill, and I wouldn't remember, I'd lie. I would make something up, just to make the Fan happy.

He was really disappointing. But the Con wasn't bad at all. Jay Laga'aia was there, and he rocked the Con.

But really, Billy Dee Williams is an asshole!

Fixed!

I saw Billy Dee Williams on JediCon 2004 in Germany. He sucked. He held a panel, did't tell anything, switched directly to Q&A, and every time he was asked something about ESB or ROTJ, he had one standard answer: "I don't remember." One of the fans brought a Batman-Poster which already had autographs by Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, and Mr. Williams signed it with "Billy Dee Williams - Lando".
