I found this to be really cool.
Darth Vader is a cultural icon, but somebody watching the films in chronological order with hazy knowledge of the other characters could find Palpatine’s knighting of Vader to be the real big reveal of the saga. It’s an unusual reversal of the classic twist.

It just occurred to me that if Lucasfilm put out the OOT in 2020 it would be the second time they put it out on the current format the year after the conclusion of a main saga movie trilogy.

Here’s what I was able to come up with:
The Tarkin scenes have been of much contention in this thread, so I figured I would share this little tidbit: the restored archival footage shown at Celebration had its own unique grading for the alternate shots of some of these scenes, and when balanced they yield aesthetically pleasing results:

I then did a rough transcription of the grading onto a corresponding Blu-ray shot:

It has to be a version separate from the BD. Why would the main event be a screening of the version you can get for retail value?
These are excellent. My only complaint is that there’s still noticable green-yellow shifting going on, not unlike the Senator print. Other than that, this is the nicest looking rendition of the photography I’ve seen to date.

I’ve been matching the results of my single-pass regrade of the JSC to the Blu-ray (specifically Harmy’s 2.7), and I’m quite pleased with how natural looking the results are:
(Also I’m not sure why some of the images are so speckled. It’s how all of the screenshots appeared before I altered them.)
Interestingly enough, this same regrade produces fairly good-looking results when applied to Empire:

IMO you could read that as both Luke and Anakin, and it makes sense either way.
Seeing both a Jedi and a Sith simultaneously believe they’d find redemption through Vader was awesome, and was yet another example of “things I hate about the PT that are mostly alright in this context”.
I didn’t think they were talking about Vader.
Likely it was kept intentionally ambiguous.
Third pass. Differences from last time are minimal, but important:
Is anyone else really happy that the color scheme of the Tantive scenes in Rogue One matches the original set, and nothing else? I’ve seen both official and unofficial bits of media mimic the dreadful blueish grey scheme from the Blu-ray to a teethe, so I was delighted to see Edwards didn’t pay attention to that at all.
