OK, I got my graphics issues with phildesfr’s templates worked out, and finished my set for all 3 movies. These, like phildesfr’s, are for standard Blu-ray cases. I also made a tweak in the inserts I linked earlier, both the cases and the updated inserts are available at this link:

Thanks to phildesfr, he did most of the work, I just tweaked them for this set. If anyone sees any errors, let me know and I’ll try to correct them.

Hey cool man, now maybe i don’t need to do the last one.

I vote for still doing the last one. Especially with interior art, for the reverse of the front cover like the first two had.

Thoughts?

(The 50GB option would allow for even more choices too.)

I would say, if your time and effort allows for it, to make two options. I haven’t the slightest idea how much time and effort that would take, but I know it would be very considerable so I won’t even presume.

If there were two options though - one for 50gb and one for 25gb, I wouldn’t personally opt for 25gb (as I wouldn’t be using it if the 50gb was offered, and I’m assuming all those listed extras would fit on a DL disc)… But I do think if the 50gb disc is offered, that a 25gb be offered as well. There are many here, I’m supposing, that aren’t able to do DL and have been keeping up with your project and are banking on consistency, and have only been using 25gb discs all along. If it’s a vote for “either, or” as in either 25gb, or 50 gb, I’d choose 25gb just so it didn’t fuck up all those currently able to use it, even though I wouldn’t prefer it. If it could be two different disc size options, with all options on the 50gb and one with “the best chosen extras” on a single layer 25gb, I think that would be absolutely ideal. That way, on the 50gb disc, you could absolutely maximize bitrate even with the kitchen sink included.

I’m also more than a little buzzed and probably rambling.

A quick grammar nazi question - is the “disk” a typo or one of the examples of US English vs. UK English?

Disk is used for magnetic storage devices, like traditional HDD’s, and disc is used for optical storage devices, like CD’s etc. (in the US at least,no clue about other parts of the world). For LaserDisc though, that was just what it was called either way. It was a marketing/branding term specific to the product invented by Pioneer, it’s its own word.

Since this is the thread getting the most attention lately…

I have some questions regarding how to turn the MKV files into Blu-ray Discs, as well as the artwork for putting in Blu-ray cases and perhaps the creation of the awesome box sets I’ve seen.

Please reply privately if you don’t mind. Thanks!

I think a few responses as opposed to PM’s wouldn’t be too bad, new users or those with the same questions could use the info. I don’t think a small handful of responses would clutter Harmy’s thread too much as long as it was kept within reason.

To convert the mkv files into a BD disc I’d recommend tsMuxer. Be mindful when installing and do not allow it to install any extra garbage. You can get it here. Once tsMuxer is running simply click add and pop in your MKV, and then select the output to be Blu-Ray Iso.

Then you’ll need to DL ImgBurn. Again, it tries to DL shit and horseanus onto your PC if you allow it. Be mindful when installing and go for the most complex install option, and disable the fluff. Run it, choose “Write Image File To Disc”, pop in the iso you just made - and you’re good to go.

As to the artwork, I print using a program called UnderCoverXP. You can PM me if you want to know my template sizes but I won’t go into detail because it would only benefit those that had my specific printer, so unless on the off-chance you have the same model printer I do it wouldn’t help you - that’s what I’ve tuned my templates for. You’ll have to do the same for your printer. As to the awesome box sets, I too am in awe of them. It’s a level of creativity beyond my simple ass.

Do you have a recommended BD burner? Thanks

I bought mine over 4 years ago, it was an LG WH12LS30 (still going strong), but it’s so old it’s obsolete and now discontinued. Since I’ve had good experiences with my LG, I’d recommend the LG WH16NS40. It looks like it’s the new equivalent, just better (although I don’t have any first-hand experience with it.) At ~60 bucks on Amazon, it’s much cheaper than my lifetime SLysoft license was, and looks to be very highly rated.

but also confused that you would spend money on it instead of an affordable BD burner. I think I’m still confused about the last part, if you go beyond the trial.)

Same here. I mean, I love SlySoft - I use AnyDVD HD all the time to bust region locking but to use CloneBD as a way to skirt around buying a BD burner doesn’t make much sense. The license itself costs more than a BD drive, and you end up with a completely inferior, compressed to Hell version of the presentation in the best case scenario. I still don’t know how it would keep anything intact either, the menu structure, etc.

You’d be way better of DL’ing and burning Harmy’s old AVCHD versions, which were built from the ground up for DVD9’s. Even though they’re now completely obsolete relative to the standards of the BD releases, they’d still look better than what any cheap program would produce after quickly mashing down these newer releases to fit on DVD… and I can’t imagine the errors, artifacts, etc. they’d introduce too. I mean, to take this new ESB release that njvc put together, which is a cunt hair under 50gb’s if you go with the full film + features release, and compress it down to less than 9… it would look absolutely awful. It’d be like taking a full loaf of bread and trying to smush it into a tissue box. It’s still technically bread afterwards, but I wouldn’t want to make sandwiches with that shit. You’re better off just starting with the smaller loaf of bread from the get-go.

I’ll put Frink in a tissue box.
