Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen.
The Final DVD is rendering now, completely done.
Uploaded and posted tomorrow afternoon/evening. Promise.
FIXED! YEEESSS!
I'm really trying guys. I've posted all over the place, checked every resource I can find... still nothing. I might have to give up for the night as I'm starting to get ridiculously annoyed about this.
Sorry everyone, this thing is totally ready, except Vegas is outputting the 5.1 channels incorrectly. And there's no reason for it, and there isn't a shred of information anywhere I can find that can help me fix it. So I'm kind of stuck. If anybody can help me at all, I'd appreciate it.
I'm looking forward to the audio not sounding like shit. Unfortunately, that is the case right now. Vegas is doing some crazy stuff with the surround and mixing all the files up, which it has not been doing up until now. Since I haven't messed with any settings, I don't even know where to begin to fix it. Probably can't post it tonight, I've been working on fixing this audio issue all day and have made zero progress.
That is Ben Burtt, isn't it?
Well, no longer!
I really cut it because that whole moment there, when they get busted by the Imperials, is just kind of lame. There's Ben Burtt doing his silly line delivery, and then there's the classic "you rebel scum!" guy that I'd like to punch in the throat. I can't really get rid of him without it seeming choppy, but I could get rid of Ben Burtt.
Once this render is completed, I think we're all set. I triple checked the audio sync and it all looked good to me. I actually did some last minute cuts as well, haha. I removed the shot of Han and troops going into the bunker after the Ewok hijacks the speeder bike, and then I cut that dude that yells "Freeze!" and Han throws his explosive charges into him. That seemed a bit silly to me. He kind of needs those. And miraculously has them back later on.
MU, posted on fanedit.info and possibly tehparadox
Rendering the video. Should have everything prepped for tomorrow, finish up the dvd, and then get the links made and posted. Tomorrow night is the night.
Getting there guys. I'm sorry about the delay, I keep getting these weird sync issues, and it takes ages to render each time. It's like every time I fix it, a new one pops up. I think I got it now though. Final render will be happening today/tonight and hopefully I can wrap it all up tomorrow.
Sorry I didn't get this done today. I intended to, but I found some technical hiccups I want to smooth out. I don't want to release it unless it's the best I can possibly do it.
The difference is every action scene in Lord of the Rings ends with a convenient cop out that's undeserved.
Oops, sorry. You brought out the hater in me.
cutnshut, you may have worked it out, I talked about the idea a long time ago.
If you did, keep it secret. Keep it safe.
haha, awesome. I'll buy a cookie for whoever finds it first. A good cookie.
The "secret" project will be really, really cool. I'm excited about it, but it's an endeavour. It will probably take a while to be done, hopefully around October or so I can release it. It's Prequel related. I'll be working on a Fanedit of the movie Faster next, and then hopefully The Force Unleashed and one other non-star wars edit, doing this other project in the background.
I also have hidden two easter eggs on the disc, one is by Rogue-theX and is pretty hilarious, the other is a super secret trailer for a project I'm working on that will not be completed for quite a while. I think you guys might like it though.
See if you can find both of them!
Fingers crossed that this gets completed today. I should be able to render an XviD version tonight at the very least and get that posted by tomorrow. The DL DVD looks really nice though, so you might want to wait for that, picture quality turned out really good. Or get both. Your call. There won't be a SL DVD, but if you wanted to make one it probably would still look pretty good if you put most of the compression onto the features as opposed to the movie.
If there's enough call for it, I may release an SL barebones disc with just the movie and the commentary.
I don't know if anyone here is helped by this, but since I used Vegas to assemble the final product and Vegas' Mpeg2 rendering engine is kind of crap, I wanted to use an external encoder like HCenc. If any of you have tried that, you know it's a bit complicated, with having to write scripts and stuff to make it work.
Well, I was recommended to a program called "The FilmMachine" Basically, it does all of that for you. It's very simple, and makes the process so much easier. The results look about three times better than they would if I had rendered the mpeg2 in Vegas. I'm kind of technology retarded, and I could figure it out, which also means most medium to large sized mammals could too. Recommended!
Just by taking away his goofiness, his "Jar-Jar" moments, he comes off as a stronger and more heroic character. The thing I wish I could've improved is that Han really doesn't have much of a character arc, but the material isn't there to improve that. His arc in the original is just a repeat of the last two movies, being jealous of Luke and not sure if Leia loves him, but instead of handling it like a smooth scoundrel, he handles it like a kindergardener in Jedi. So I removed that. He's a stronger character, for certain, but he still doesn't have very much to do.
The DVD files are rendered. Hopefully I can put the finishing touches on this today.
Nah, I just worded it poorly. My bad.
Just a quick update... I've been working on this all day, it's coming along really nicely. I'm just refining it, making sure nothing is out of sync, etc. The features are finished. I think it'll be ready by Wednesday/Thursday.
I may have to post a clip of some of bob's work on Tuesday if I don't have the release ready by then. It really is that impressive. For me, it's less that it looks awesome (which it does) but just how much it changes the feel of things.
Luke has to defeat the Emperor now, or he would be able to flee and fight another day. Now, because Luke is successful in his goals, the galaxy is free of the Sith. It just adds so much more to the story. Very, very exciting stuff.
Hey man, you know I'm not very good with special effects, but if you need help editing any sections of that edit, let me know, I'd be happy to help.
Well played sir. Well played.
The edit of the movie is done. Now it's just wrapping up the features/DVD/links.
Bob's shots are incredible. I'm so excited about them. I can't wait to watch this with some friends.
So I realized that the track I'm using for the end credits is much longer than the original track, so I ran out of credits.
So I just started putting stupid sh!t up there after the credits were over. If you feel like having a bit of a giggle, watch the entire credits.
You guys are all getting a shout out in there, as well as some other people. I think everyone here will enjoy the credits. Except maybe lordsidi. :)
