Info: A note about Spence Edits
Time

Hello everyone. I just posted that my edit of Spider-man has been posted on demonoid. This is probably the last time I personally post an edit on demonoid.

I no longer want to deal with people that do not seed, or help the cause, post comments just to tell you how much you suck, and flame you for essentially giving them something for free. It’s not worth the effort.

I have been talking to Boon23 (who is putting together an awesome fan site at www.mutantmovies.com), and he will put my edits on rapidshare. He also putting me in contact with someone that has a lot of bandwith and is willing to host the torrents. Also, as always, I’m very willing to trade my edits, so e-mail me about it.

You’ll hear more about my edits and how to get them around here and at mutant movies. I thought I should let everyone know that demonoid may not be the place for Spence Edits anymore.

The Amazing Spider-Man: A Spence Edit (Released)
Time

Hey guys, this one is nearly finished. This is the first edit ive done of a movie that i honestly don’t like very much. There was some good stuff in Spider-man, but it is all covered with a thick layer of cheese that is hard to get around. There’s corny dialogue, horrible acting/characterization, and some rather iffy special-effects by today’s or any standards. This edit tries to fix some of the things i thought were absolutely terrible about this first spider-man film.

  • Most of the opening credits are gone. The film is retitled “The Amazing Spider-Man”
  • The badly written and unnecessary scene between Harry and Norman in the car is Kaput.
  • A lot of the real groaner lines are gone.
  • The first part of the film is all about Peter’s transformation into spider-man. The transformation of the green goblin is left till after Peter graduates.
  • A lot of unnecessary and long effect shots are removed.
  • The subplot of Green Goblin trying to turn Spider-man to his side is removed, as it was completely useless and just added to the runtime.
  • The film now runs about an 1hr 45min. and is an enjoyable adaptation of a legendary comic book.

If this goes over well, i may work on an edit of the sequel, which is far superior but could still do with a little tune up. I had fun making this one and am pleased with the end result.

This shoudl be up on demonoid by friday.

thanks for the responses.

yes, i hate that quick cut in the keymaker scene as well, but i couldn't figure out how to do it any other way. there weren't any establishing shots i could use or anything. I tried the shot of them all walking into the hall, but then Persephone would miraculously disappear for the rest of the scene.

That Oracle sequence would have gone had it not had some important tidbits of info in there. That was a pain in the ass to get into the film.

King Kong: The Spence Edit 2.0 (Released)
Time
thanks for the feedback!

I agree that the first version was a lot less fluff, but this new version is more of a straight remake of the original 1933 film to me. The triceratops scene, the raft sequence, things like that were all important features of the original film. So this one is kind of supposed to be more of a straight remake than an actual improvement on the new film (though i still would rather watch spence edit 2.0 to Jackson's version.)

I'm not sure what my next edit will be. I have been looking at working on the spider-man films, possibly miami vice. I haven't decided quit yet. I rewatched the original spider-man and realized how horrible parts of it are. So i'd like to try and fix those up a bit.

Nearly finished with this. I think its far superior to my first edit, as 1. it was the first edit i'd ever done, and 2. some of the new scenes from the dvd really help develop the characters a bit better. Jimmy and Hayes now have a short, nonsucky storyline that makes them likable and sympathetic. Bruce Baxter has a few more amusing moments. Denham gets to be a hero. all around i think i found a good balance. The film is now about 2hrs. 45. mins, still an epic length, but i feel the time is now spent more wisely. I'm very happy with how this has turned out and look forward to sharing it with you all.
