Alexander - The Spence Edit (Released)
Time
Here is an update on some of the things i've changed, if anyone is interested.

* The film is chronological now, starting with alexander as a boy and showing how he became king. Then we go to the Gaugamela battle.
* Sir Anthony Hopkins is no more. His bookend scenes have been removed, as is his narration. Most of the time the narration was just stating the obvious anyway.
* Most of the scenes that make Alexander appear weak have been removed, for instance when he cries like a little girl, which happened numerous occassions throughout.
* Most of the bisexuality has been removed, and before anyone calls me a homophobe let me explain why. I was very intrigued about the idea of Alexander being portrayed as a bisexual and, prior to seeing the film, I fully supported this idea. What bothers me about it in the film is how it is treated. You can almost feel Oliver Stone going "tee-hee-hee, Alexander is gay!" Instead of just portraying him as bisexual, they dance around the subject, filling the film with silly glances across the room and random lines thrown in to remind you "oh yeah, he's bisexual." Rather than see this aspect handled so poorly, i have decided to remove it all together.
* A lot of little edits have been made for time's sake, to keep the pace moving.

This edit uses the Director's Cut as its basis. The original film was 2 hrs 45 min, my edit is currently down to 2 hrs. 15 min. and I'm still working on it. I'm quite pleased with how this is turning out, it feels a lot less bloated and a lot more exciting.

Alexander - The Spence Edit (Released)
Time

I am beginning a new edit of Oliver Stone’s Alexander. The goal is to cut the film down to about 2 hrs. in length, give or take. I feel the biggest problem with the film is its lack of focus on the main character, too much time is spent on his mother and father. My cut of the film will shift the focus to Alexander. Also, I will make the film be in chronological order, without all of the confusing flashbacks and flash forwards. If at all possible, I’d like to remove Anthony Hopkins’ narration and his bookend scenes in the film. The film will be more of a rousing action epic, less of Oliver Stone indulging himself.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what might work in this edit?
