Maybe I strongly worded my response. I didn't mean to personally insult anyone, but dubbing is undeservingly scorned enough as it is. Seven Samurai also had a dub, but IIRC Toho actually destroyed all of the prints that had it.

I dubbed the uncut 96 minute version of the fi<span style=“text-decoration: line-through;”>r</span>st Godzilla movie into English using the original music and effects track and the voice talent of Stephen Hawking.
There is an MKV available on Cinemageddon and a Criterion DVD9 syncable .ac3 at 192kbps (PM for this).

Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, dubbed in English (a DVD5 on ADC). It was actually pretty entertaining in a sincere way and very well scripted. I gotta hear the Rashomon dub next.
There are some dubs that have the M&E track playing with the 4% speedup but the voices are recorded at normal speed. They sound really weird when you slow them down. There's also this awful Italian King Kong vs. Godzilla DVD that speeds the movie up so much it only runs 72 minutes. I kid you not. The audio is unlistenable.
PAL DVDs that have corrected pitches but still obviously play at 25fps are worse in my opinion.

Are they exactly like this by any chance? These are from Toho's international version of The Return of Godzilla, made the same year.
The Thai can't even ADR films in their own language without it looking weird.

The dubbing industry is pretty much in universal decline. Even the rushjob dubs that came out of Hong Kong from the '60s to early '90s had WAY more character than the garbage that followed.
I recall you showing the raw captures being played at 29.97fps in many of your behind the scenes featurettes.

What, nobody noticed that stuff like the French and German dubs have stuff like the Tantive alarm and the nosier S-Foil sounds? I figured that since all foreign dubs were stereo and had the changes, they could be of some use to this project.
At the same time, the foreign stereo track is missing a couple of the mono additions. The added breakdown noises to Red Leader's X-Wing crash are not present.
The stereo foreign music and effects track has most of the changes.
My local theater still plays 35mm of new releases, so it's not entirely dead yet.

A jokey, just for laughs project I have planned. Will use the TB airing of the 1997 version for all unaltered shots, reverting to the 16mm transfers Puggo has done for all changed shots, disorienting the viewer as the coloring and framing suddenly and drastically changes. AR will also be distorted to about 2:1. Audio will be the mono mix with sometimes less than perfect sync.
Inspired by/ripped off from the official 1985 restoration of King Kong vs. Godzilla, which used a nasty 16mm rental division internegative for all frames missing from the uncut version, reverting to it sometimes mid-shot.
Final release will be a lovely DVD5 capture of a VHS.
