Brian Cant has gone too… http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40335213

The voice of a fair few childhoods there mate - hadn’t realised he’d done quite so many programs (and featured in Dr Who too).

RIP Brian Cant.

I had no idea that UK’s ‘Play School’ was the precursor to Canada’s ‘Poka Dot Door’. It was the Humpty doll that made me do a double take.

RIP Brian Cant.

RIP Stephen Furst. Long live Animal House!

Gorillaz - Humanz

How’s the newest album? Does it sound like previous ones?

It’s in the same light but the album has a lot more features and that is the biggest difference between this and Demon Days. Musically at its core it’s still Gorillaz though not as refined and consistent as they once were. Hopefully Humanz grows on me more as I live with the album.

Hmm, sounds interesting, I’ll probably check it out on Spotify.

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **

Wow! Bad news travels fast. Disney is going to have a hard time putting a positive spin on this one. How many months were left in the shoot? There could even be a Director’s guild dispute over how much of the finished film was directed by whom.\

Who would even want the burden of stepping into a movie five months into production?

Maybe director Allan Smithee is available. 😃

Star Wars - Harmys Despecialized Edition v2.7.

I introduced Star Wars to a cousin of mine. He has never seen any Star Wars movie. My friend who came by too said - Yeah we should do a Star Wars marathon in order. I quickly stopped the crazy talk, and he too enjoyed the original unaltered version. We also watched most of that 20 minute video showing all the changes.

I’m planning on making another full set for a family friend, my family and I will be visiting later this year. I’ll try to educate family and friends as much as possible, in hopes they will do the same.

Good on you for talking that friend out of such nonsense. Nothing hurts more than someone just going “Oh that good ol Star Wars series, you haven’t seen it? Look at this dandy complete saga blu ray set. Let us just sift through chronologically from 1-6.”

Poor soul is forced to watch unedited prequels before OT, and then the hacked up special editions after that.

Exactly! Sure I bought the 2011 Bluray set, because well it’s Star Wars. However, I had no idea about the fan preservation projects like Harmy’s DE until maybe 2013-2014, when I downloaded his version 1.0 in AVCHD MKVs. I also googled Harmy’s DE and got more information & was extremely ecstatic.

It was a glorious moment, to relive the excitement of the OUT, that I haven’t seen since I was a child. Sure I had many copies of the butchered editions from 1997+, but I totally forgot how much was changed, almost like a Force mind trick block.

Some of my other cousins have kids that are obsessed with Star Wars. I have to educate them. I will have to plan some Star Wars marathons with them. Let them talk to their schoolyard chums, which will tell their parents…

It is his first ban%2C so I guess it would be a temp ban. Then again%2C it is Darth Id that we%27re talking about.

JEDIT: What the hell is going on with these symbol characters?

Lol, go home, you’re drunk.

Actually I’m seeing them too in several members posts.

I’m seeing them too. I had to edit a few of my posts from yesterday.

I saw this post on the fanedit.org Facebook…

We’ve had a few reports of people not being able to access the forums. This doesn’t seem to be widespread

I can’t access the forums (or anything much beyond the homepage) since last night. Anyone else having the same problem? If anybody else from fanedit.org reads this who can access the forums still, could they tell somebody about the problem. Thanks.

btw I can’t access it from multiple browsers and devices.

I was able to access the fanedit.org forums page.

I’ll give the Canadians this: Ending a statement with “Eh?” is a fantastic conversation device.
I mean, you could say to someone outside the venue: “Wow! That was a great show!” and that’d be the end of it. BUT, if you say “Wow! That was a great show, eh!?”, they have to respond, or be an asshole. I met a buncha Canadians at a music festival in 2000 and have used this device ever since.

I’m glad you like to use ‘eh’. Yeah, music festivals are great places to meet people from all over the world.

Weird! My post was all garbled.

Thank you! The center channel is not just for dialogue, and so I’m not surprised to hear other sounds there.

Oh ok, like I said I wasn’t sure on that. Thank’s for clearing it up. 😃

Here’s my best attempt at implementing a revised X-wing sequence with Ackbar. Same as before, not perfect, but I don’t think anything stands out in a bad way.

The scene looks and sounds good. I concur with Sir Ridley & Kexikus, it would sound better to have Ackbar’s line have more of a radio like sound, in the X-Wings.

At least in this movie the center channel has the dialogue, sound effects that should be heard from the front and even a little bit of music.

That’s cool, good to know.

Here’s a full-sized version of the firing sequence, if a anyone would like to test it out on their audio equipment!
https://mega.nz/#!DYYQXBaS!aohr1KhLoJLegDGn7ZcNKPRiaTdmPm_Bc3Yes84Z20w

I just checked out the clip on my 5.1 system, and it sounds pretty good. The Subwoofer was working hard, that it knocked down some charged batteries resting ontop of it.

The voice was pretty clear amongst all the soundfx in the other surround channels. Though, I did notice a bit of extra soundfx from the Center channel. I don’t know how to build surround sound audio, so not sure if the Center channel can have other sounds when no speaking is present.

Keep it up! I can’t wait for the finished product!
