So we could have Dooku instead of Sidious, until "Palpatine" reveals himself as "Sith" to Mace Windu ?

No, we just never see Sidious until the end of the series when he's revealed as Palpatine. He is only talked about but has no actual screentime, Dooku controls the federation and the seperatists while he is in search for a new apprentice to help kill Sidious (this makes Maul one if his secret apprentices). This helps build up a reason to have Dooku in the next two movies and also a better explanation for why he is replaced by Anakin

I will not be green-screening little Annie because [as Handman called it ;-)] the footage doesn't look quite right, the garin and colors do not match up unless you make the footage look completely unnatural. However Yoda will still be 100% removed with special effects and tedious editing, KI-ADI-MUNDI will fill in for him whenever needed in the council room. I am also using special effects to make Mos (Espa or Eisley?) look less like it has a ton of CGI crap all over it (pretty much just like theatrical ANH). Added some more info. to the first post btw :)

For putting Dooku into TPM, I would have replaced Darth Sidious with him and used maybe some voice overs from the clone wars movie. The trade federation has to be re-dubbed whether it's an alien language or not IMO. I think that Dooku should be a main Villain who is constantly in search for a secret apprentice to kill Darth Sidious and take over, that explains why he trained Grievous and Ventress. I think I would make it so that he thinks Maul is dead but then once Ventress dies he goes and looks for another apprentice and ends up finding Grievous (Maul) again. Once Palpatine finds out about Dooku's plans, he sends Anakin to go kill him at the same time Obi-wan is sent to kill Grievous/Maul

Just for funsies, I did this :P

What if Anakin's dreams get so strong he actually has seizures and passes out?

Maybe the awful "got ya" roll in the grass bit could be trimmed off and the sound from the deleted scene on the ship could be used to imply that Anakin has collapsed and is seeing his mother in peril.

This would help build sympathy for Anakin both from Padme and the audience and make their trip to Tatooine a little less reckless (seeing as he is supposed to be guarding her).

This would also help bolster the fugue state idea (that Vader is Anakin's subconscious Dark Side expressing itself during his unconscious moments).

This would be fairly easy to pull off by cutting from him struggling atop the creature to flashes of his dead mother. We would have to end with Padme rushing over to his limp body, at which point we'd cut back to the Obi Wan plotline. We already have a shot of Anakin tossing and turning in bed to cut back to after that. I wouldn't necessarily use it to set up the "fugue state" concept, but it could potentially expand on his justification for going to his Mother (though it really isn't in keeping with the OT for the viewer to see these visions, so I'm not sure it would be desirable, personally). My main problem is the horrible looking creature. If Anakin could be shown showing off bucking bronco style on something else it could be useful maybe.

 My thoughts exactly

Another truly brilliant idea, I honestly think the prequels could be changed so drastically that you wouldn't even recognise the movies

Anyway, I had some thoughts when reading about the final of Rebels and possible connections to Clone Wars:

- it would have been cool, to see two or even three "Sith" battle against each other (like was done in the Clone Wars), giving this idea more weight:

-- we have the character of "Maul", who acts as "General" for Sidious/Dooku, in Episode 1 he is wounded, but not killed, in E2 he is then presumed dead, only to reappear in E3 as "Grievous" (or "Vader")

in parallel to this, Anakin has similar trials, and loses arm/legs along the way to the final confrontation - ending with his duel against "Maul" (aka "Grievous")

So where does that leave Obi-Wan? maybe he didn't duel him then (resulting the lava beach and later breath-suit), maybe OB1 just faced "Vader" and held him off, to help someone (Padme or Bail Organa) escape to safety (or hiding) ...

I was thinking something more like:

-he was wounded in TPM and not seen in AOTC

-he comes back in ROTS and obi-wan is sent to kill him, meanwhile anakin starts to do stuff for palpatine and is sent to go assassinate count dooku

-anakin and obi-wan both come back from their missions, anakin (shows up first) finds mace killing palpatine and obi-wan finds coruscant all destroyed (a bit later) and goes to see padme

What I think is interesting is that when Maul gets his (sort of?) human pair of legs back, they look a LOT like grievous' but black. Anyone see the similarity?

I'm not talkig about any of your screenshots, I am just wondering if you are taking out the shadows that the sabers give off throughout the movies, they look like the shadow of a stick (which they are really) and they kind of bugging me so I was just wondering if oyu're doing that, thanks! :)

My question about this project is are you removing the lightsaber shadows? In the scene where luje gets his lightsaber you see it off to the left and in the last Vader vs. Luke battle you see lightsaber shadows all over, will you get rid of them or modify them? I have read some debate over this but I beleive that they shouldn't give off shadow as they are a source of light, even if it is plasma it is STILL glowing and gives off quite a bit of light so I'd like to see your opinion on this. Also what is your main source for these? Are you using Harmy's despecialized editions or are you using some other source, thanks! :)

The new Star Wars comics - a general discussion thread

Imo vader is written quite well in the Vader series, he doesnt say much and does what it takes to get what he wants with no hesitation. In one scene Jabba is trying to negotiate with vader so vader just starts choking him and deflects a bunch of lasers into the crowd, Vader is quick to to violence and won't hesitate to do what he feels like just like in the movies.

Vader #1 was really cool although doubleofive makes a good point in saying that he can tell exactly what shots were used in some parts of the comic but I can let it slide seeing how awesome it was and how interesting the dialogue is. Teases at the prequels with the scene where he remembers his lightsaber (also in star wars #2) and also makes you remember that little Annie can speak huttese

Star Wars #2 was just... meh, I don't really remember that much of anything memorable other than the Luke vs. Vader scene which the 1st one led up to...

Does anyone know who that lizard-eyed dude was that the Emperor was talking to in Darth Vader #1? He isn't familiar to me at all, also, does anyone know who that black mangled wookie is (Black Krrantan) because I have no idea who these people are.

Yes DuracellEnergizer, it is the lame Tagge with the weird voice and not the guy with the sick outdated shades ;)

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)

Watched the edit, new voice was way better than that youtube video audition. Liked the way you handled the fight between dooku and yoda at the end. Liked the bar scene but the music seemed odd here (maybe if it were the cantina song but slower with different instruments or something). Really liked the new version of the geonosis battle in the pit (surprised by the re-coloured lightsabers :D) Jar Jar's voice was weird (I would've just cut him completely) and so was the clone's (I don't even know why he was voiced over but you have your reasons). To be honest, in all it's roughness it is my favourite edit of AOTC as I haven't enjoyed any of the versions of this movie that I've seen. Lots of nice surprises throughout and contains some inspiring stuff, this is a very good workprint.
