Thanks for your input! I’m still trying to cut a better version of the scene, the musical timing is all good but you’re right, Obi-Wan needs to show some emotion.

I love the musical rescoring! I definitely agree with Darth GL that Obi-Wan needs a “Nooooo!!”, but I’m sure that extracting it isn’t too hard using something like Audacity, at least to be used underneath a music track. I’m definitely leaning towards using something like this is my edit

I wouldn’t even need to extract it because starwars.com has a very useful soundboard which contains Obi-Wan’s “NOO00!” by itself with no other audio, I’ll try it out but it may not end up in the edit anyway

If you dub Jar-Jar in english then I think this would be the very first edit to actually do that, if you are going for an alien language then I have some pointers:
-Keep subtitles to a minimum, in the OT the aliens only have subtitles when absolutely necessary in order to prevent the audience constantly reading the screen.
-Do not reverse your dialog, it’s a cheap way to make your alien voice but it is very obvious and doesn’t sound right.
-Match up the lines to the character’s lips, this is very important

Anyway, nice trailer!

-This one would be quite tedious, but in the scene where Windu and other Jedi confront Palpatine, it would be cool to see the other Jedi float into the air and get force choked by Palpatine rather than have them stupidly and awkwardly killed in a lightsaber battle, this would make Palpatine seem way more powerful and make the scene much more intense.

I also like this because it makes mace seem stronger for being immune to it.

The only problem is the animation of the Jedi floating and choking

As many of you know, a Darth Maul fan-film has been released recently (https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj75oHb5bnLAhUY5WMKHdcKCM8QtwIIHDAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DDjo_91jN3Pk&usg=AFQjCNGiT2_wxT_SUtvKnTOB3D00RpkSSw&sig2=2EGgOUV2wPq63QbsHh49wQ) I have contacted T7pro and am waiting for a response on whether or not I can use their fan film in my edit, if so I will incorporate a few scenes into my fan edit. A few special effects would have to be done in order for it to work but my goal is to show Darth Maul tracking the Jedi and discovering their location by having drones outside Tatooine.

Don’t we already have at least two of these threads already in progress?

I checked the first three pages of General Discussion and didn’t see any. Maybe something’s wrong with me.

What threads are you talking about?

You have to scroll through a few pages but I found this one: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/What-anthologyspinoff-film-would-you-like-to-see/id/45913

If only there were a search bar

It also seems strange that the big ending isn’t included. I wonder if the music could be changed to something grander, and simply have the entire scene dialogue free.

It isn’t John Williams, but the ending of “The Destruction of Xizor’s Palace” from The Shadows of the Empire OST is a pretty good song that could be used

Ranking the Star Wars Soundtracks

Well, it seems that there’s at least one common pattern here - that AotC, bar two very good tracks, is the most disliked soundtrack of them all. Probably the movie, too. But I digress.

I think that the TFA soundtrack has a lot of great themes, such as Rey’s Theme, March of the Resistance, Sherzo for X-Wing’s, and The Jedi Steps, but I think that most of the other tracks are like filler (Rey Meets BB-8, That Girl with the Staff, Finn’s Confession, Maz’s Counsel, Snoke). They are all good, but nothing especially memorable. I also think that the great themes (stated above) aren’t as good as the themes from AOTC, or any other films really. Across the Stars, The Chase Through Coruscant, Jango’s Escape, Bounty Hunter’s Pursuit, Return to Tatooine, Love Pledge/The Arena and Confrontation with Count Dooku and Finale are all exceptional tracks that I find myself humming very often. The only reason I rank the AOTC soundtrack so low is that there really wasn’t that much music composed, although what was is brilliant, and in my opinion, better than TFA.

I 100% agree

The Phantom Menace: Radical Re-Edit
Time

I watched this today and have some mixed thoughts. First off, the dubbing of Jar Jar and the weird engrish speaking guys was mostly seamless and worked pretty well. The pacing was mostly fixed although things really slowed down in the third act once the politics aspect was introduced. The visual editing was fine but the quality of the shots taken from the dvd and the ones that were cropped/stretched stuck out. Overall it was better than most edits I’ve seen but there were a few too many jarring moments

I’ll probably be trying a few different menthods of uploading. This is the first fan edit I’ve ever really done, so I’m still learning a bit about the process, but I’ll probably do a torrent and try to list it on fanedit.info as well. I’m also going to try to put the thing on YouTube (I’ve been told that if I omit certain pieces of the end credits, I’ll have a much better shot of it not getting pulled down by Disney, oddly enough).

Try vimeo, full fanedits have stayed on there without being taken down and anyone can download videos directly from vimeo as well.
