The Hateful Eight 8.5/10

Finally got around to checking this out, it wasn’t showing at my local theater and I was in no mood to see TFA three times as well as The Revenant once in the same month. Beautiful cinematography and amazing acting came together here but the film is actually missing most of the Tarantino-isms. Check it out!

What was the point of hiring Richard Marquand in the first place?
Time

In a documentary (or maybe a commentary I can’t even remember) George said that Marquand was good at tense/dark shots because of his experience with horror. This is why parts like when Leia saves Han from carbonite and the throne room scenes are such great scenes. As for the rest of the movie I’m not sure why George would hire a horror director to film Ewoks and Admiral Ackbar but whatever.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

I just got Batman: Arkham City - Armored Edition to replace my digital copy on PS3. The new wii u features are really immersive and creative.

Fight Night Champion is the best sports game ever made. It has a really well done campaign and the boxing controls are really good! I also love the way the graphics look on peoples’ skin and sweat, it’s really realistic although the faces look pretty fake.

Then why include the OT at all if it’s pretty much retconned?

God still works amazing things in those peoples lives and their stories held in those books have great power.

He also fucks a lot of people up in the OT as well. Job is a good example and the Amorites are another.

God didn’t even do anything to Job, he just let Satan do those things (which he would let Satan do anyway). Plus Job is considered to be fiction/poetry and not to be taken literally. The Amorites were a bunch of bullies going around murdering whoever they wanted and worshipping false gods as well as ignoring the christians who warned them of what god was going to do if they didn’t cut it out. God’s punishments were severe but all of them could have been prevented.

…I learned many things about the Bible to fuel my hatred of it…

You actively hate the Bible?

Yes, when it has things passages saying to kill homosexuals (and pretty much everyone else who isn’t a straight worshiper of Yahweh),

I’m not sure what passages you’re speaking of, so I don’t know how many ways the text can be interpreted. (Also, about your parentheses, I don’t think a homosexual can effectively worship God.)

This is not true, it simply says that it’s a sin to marry the same sex. Just as it is a sin to have pre-marital sex.

a raped virgin must marry her rapist

Well, I don’t recall it saying that in those terms, but people aren’t supposed to have sexual relation before marriage, and if that is committed, the parties are supposed to get married.

No, the context of this was that when a woman is raped she becomes an outcast. The rapist was told to marry her and care for her because he made her undesirable. Marrying her was pretty much what he had to pay for raping her.

and a woman should not have authority over a man

“I’m not sure what passages you’re speaking of…”

I know what he’s talking about but it gets pretty complicated, I recommend actually doing some research.

So I’ve been working on making a legit looking poster for The Battle Begins using miscellaneous Drew Struzan art. Here’s a work in progress

I think it looks great, but just one little recommendation: If you’re trying to keep the reveal of Palpatine being Sidious, (Which is what I thought I read the other night while binge reading this thread) then I would move Palpatine further away from Maul and make him a little smaller. Right now I’m kind of getting that evil mastermind feel from it. Really good otherwise though!

Yeah that makes sense, He actually already looked that big in the original painting so I’ll just shrink him and move him.

Ahsoka shouldn’t exist. She was contrived for the series, and then conveniently dispatched from the Jedi order, and she is never mentioned in ROTS.

I’ve always thought this, it’s just strange that they decided to do it. Especially since Anakin wasn’t even a master yet.

I hated it and thought it was weird until the season 2 finale of rebels. It just clicked for me. Added an extra layer of tradegy

Agreed, they eventually added depth to the character as well as more depth to Anakin but overall I don’t care for her.
