I find my personal canon to be Brian Daley's Han Solo Adventures.  Other than two characters from the NPR Star Wars, they're a completely separate entity from "The Franchise". They feel right to me.

Anch, I know you're a SW77 man all the way, but I'm curious if you've ever checked out the "Lando Calrissian Adventures?" I've read one, "Flamewinds of Osseon" and thought it was a hoot and a half, very much in vein with the "Han Solo Adventures."

Those weren't bad either.  Although they were closer to your standard 70's/80's sci-fi novel that just happened to have a character named Lando Calrissian.

70 mm print of the Empire Strikes Back Differences
Time

Can we draw any conclusions from this?  I don't think so in this case.  The 70MM version seems to correlate with the 8MM quite frequently, but I don't know if it always does.  That weird compositing from that trailer doesn't reflect any rumors of the differences of the 70MM, but it still may be a remnant of an earlier composite that was redone and used for the 35MM.

btw, when I say I am pro-America, I don't mean that I am pro every leader this nation has had and has right now, or am pro every decision this nation made and every war we've fought.    I am pro-American, cause I am pro-freedom, pro-democracy, etc.  that sort thing.

This is about how I feel.  I strongly disagree with a lot of government actions but I don't think this should negate my feelings of pride for the good that my country has done in the world.   I am more upset at the things my country hasn't done (like deposing corrupt African dictators who massacre their own people) than the wrongs (perceived or other wise) that have been done.

My opinion.

WHY we like the things we like (and why we don't that which we don't)

...He may like a movie, here and there, but on the whole- he, in fact, did not like them.  I, on the other hand, like movies.  There are many that I don't like.   But, in gerenal, I like movies.

Sorry about quoting the first post, but I was re-reading it and something struck me.  I'm that guy.  And only in the sense that I don't consider myself a film snob, where I only watch movies of a certain genre or from a certian time or with a particular director or actor/actress.  I like movies here and there, but generally, I'd prefer to read or watch something educational on TV.

And I realize that my watching or reading of historic documentaries and good books provide the same type enjoyment and escapism as a good movie, I just like non-fiction more.

Maybe it all depends on what you expect out of the community.  I've always enjoyed this place because it is a bashers sanctuary.  The prequel and EU worshiping at other sites where I used to haunt just wasn't me.  I wanted to talk about the original trilogy without the junk and clutter of the extra stuff.  When more and more members are fans of the prequels, I feel like folks are encroaching in on my happy place.

I am wary and distrustful of anything to do with flags or nationalism in any form.  Most of it is a bunch of hyper-masculine prick-waving, designed to keep a somnambulant public from questioning their masters, tossing about largely empty and ill-defined notions like 'freedom' while playing up arrogance and cultural superiority as justification for all kinds of horrible things.

This reminds me, we've got an election in a few weeks, right?

Who is Ignoring You, and Who are You Ignoring? (was: Who is Ignoring You? (was: Hello all, I'm back!))

Woah, what's all this?  I think I was in a serious anti-prequel mode instead of my usual sort-of-tolerating fans, so I went and blocked some of those folks that I was tired of reading who were a little too into the prequels or the EU for my tastes.  Since then, I have loosened up a bit, but not revisited my ignore list.  I'll get on it.

The -modo network has you covered.

Not bad - although they seem to have stolen some from me.  And why are you reading a women's site?

No wife excuses!

Is that why it has so many Celine Dion gif's there?

I've just mentioned this elsewhere but it deserves a mention here.

Do we actually need to see Yoda in the PT at all?

Remember in the OUT how we heard about Jabba but never saw him until ROTJ.

What if throughout the PT there are mentions of this powerful Jedi Master but the name is never attached to anyone we actually see.

He could be any of the others or he could be someone else so when Luke finally meets the great Yoda it really hammers home the physical incongruity.

Most of what Yoda does in the PT is out of character with what he does in the OT and the rest of it doesn't really add up to much.

I really like that idea.

Or, if you had to, you could leave him in as a background character for one scene, but leave him un-named.  That way, if someone was watching the movies according to this mythical, hypothetical, crazy-butt scenario where somehow they didn't know a thing about Star Wars and were tested like some lab rat and made to only watch fan-edit versions, they then could see Yoda in ESB and say, "Hey, there's something familiar about that puppet guy.  I don't know, maybe I'm crazy."
