The "9000" Saga Edit (outdated thread)

Very cool, Mr 9000. I look forward to seeing what you will come up with.

I've noticed that lately there have been many heavy edits of Star Wars, such as Adywan's, Trooperman's and now Anti-Matter's prequel treatment to balance out what I like to call 'lite-edits' such as your first set, Slumberlands set and others. What do you have up your sleeve this time?

And I also wouldn't mind seeing a rather faint bit of a mouth or teeth or something of the space slug as the Falcon flies into the asteroid cave. And when we have the pov shot of the teeth closing as the falcon approaches, it might be interesting to see a bit of movement beyond the teeth, like maybe the end of the cave approaching as the space slug wiggles its way out.

The shot of the Falcon esacping the slug always looked too easy for me. The trajectory of the ship looks off to me.

Trust me. I know slugs.

Thanks Ringo. If I took more time it would have been better & yeah, the saber would need to be re-rotoscoped at the end. I just saw some of the re-edits darkhelmet did in his version of Sith there is good stuff there you should look at Anti-Matter.

Anti-matter
I also thought that with some clever editing the gungans can be cut out all together. When Amidala decides to go back to Naboo instead of her asking for the gungans for help you can just cut to the part when she explains her plan to enter the palace thru the secret passage on the waterfall side. Her main goal can be to simply capture the Viceroy while the only battle that takes place is the space battle at the Fed. ship while the Jedi deal with Maul and her team enter the palace. Simply cut out all the gungan stuff and delete all references to the gungans. I saw PTM the other day and it can be possible.

I also had this idea as well, I was thinking if instead of having to see any of those excruciating "intimate scenes" between Padme and Anakin, why not simply make it look as they are already involved by the time Anakin is a young man? What i mean is, after the PTM section of the Prologue is over go back to tatoine and show Anakin as a boy and simply use a "fade" transition on tatoine and fade to him as a young man. That way there is no need for anymore text on the screen to denote the passage of time. You can fade to the time him and Padme are on tatoine perhaps at the Lars' homested looking for Shmi. Remove all the "My Jedi protector" nonsense and all the crap scenes between them on Naboo and just make it look like they are already involved and have been for years during the time after the liberation of naboo in TPM. Maybe even with some clever editing make it look like Anakin was living with the Lars all along... this compliments your idea of leaving boy Anakin on Tatoine. Then at the end of AOTC section, they marry. The only kissing scene that should even stay should be the one on Geonosis cutting out "...been dying a little bit each day since I saw you" *cringe* of course.

Have you been watching Phantom the Menace again?

Speaking of drop-ships, I've always been curious about the ship Captian Needa takes to report to Vader. It drops out of the bay and makes a nosedive to Vader's star destroyer. I wouldn't mind the transport replaced with something more familiar. I don't know what is in the film now.

ADM, That's tough to look at.

I think that is the biggest problem with the being a fan of Star Wars is that culturally, you are not allowed to be just a fan of the movies, you have to be a die-hard, Jar-Jar loving, living in your mom's basement, Lucas-worshipping synchophant. It has evolved into being a lifestyle, a defined social strata. That is the thing that gives me the biggest headache, and especially lately with the wife. A stack of bootlegs and a box of action figures does not an uber-fan make. The SW universe is a fun place to visit, but I don't live there.

Went to see TPM with a friend my same age (29 in '99) who had seen it once before. On purpose, he didn't tell me anything of what he thought about it. When the SW logo and crawl came up I was stoked! When I was reading the crawl I was thinking "WTF? This doesn't make any sense". After a few Jar Jar'isms and horrible Lucas slapstick along with the BAD acting and dialogue, I leaned over to my friend and whispered "This is HORRIBLE!" I wanted to walk out half way through, and by the time it was over I wished I had. My friend said that he thought it was bad the first time he saw it but that he must have somehow just not "understood" what Lucas was trying to do. He understood after two times seeing it, for sure. I remember being so blown away at how truly awful and clueless GL had become and was insulted as a child of the 70's growing up on Star Wars. Little did I realize that that was only really the first salvo of insults headed my way....

OK thats just weird. That's almost exactly the same way I saw TPM, I was 31 in '99, saw it with a buddy, thought it sucked, wanted to talk about it during the movie, felt insulted, didn't know more crap was on its way.....

Oh wait there was one difference...on the way out of the theater, I told the 300' line of SW hopefuls that was waiting outside that the movie sucked and to save their money....I remember running for my car....

I had that same confusion. Why wasn't I stoked over this movie? At first I thought it was too many spoilers, but after seeing it again, I just realized that it was much deeper.

I did take to opportunity as I walked out to tell some fans waiting in line the spoiler "Psst... Anakin kills Obi-wan"
