I have a little “philosophical” question. What would you consider to be “restored original” version?
In other words, what is OK and what isn’t.

  • In the early episodes every episode had different opening credits. This was changed for the syndicated versions, every episode has the same opening credits. These “new” opening credits are on the Blu-ray set, the DVD set has the “old” credits. Is it worth changing?
  • in many, and I mean MANY Enterprise shots thanks to the blue spill problem some parts of the ship get transparent. Should it be fixed (at least in the cases for which we have the original blue screen shots)?
  • some of the wrong effects were fixed in the syndication version - good example is The Naked Time, the shots of the planet. Should it be “fixed” to the “unfixed” version?

I say restore.

Agreed.

Help Wanted: 'Star Trek V - The Final Frontier' (The Ultimate Pain-Relieving Edition)
Time

HELP WANTED

For the past couple of months, I have been seeing clips of various fan edits that are being made to the infamous Star Trek V. I decided to create one of my own. My goal for this fan edit, much like everyone else who is doing this, is to make the best version of the film possible; to make a version of the film that can fulfill the hopes of William Shatner.

As for the sources, I don’t have any. The Blu-Ray version has suffered from a horrible contrast (ex. the scene where Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Sybok meet “god” at Sha Ka Ree). I could use an HDTV upscale of the movie’s DVD release if possible.

If you all have any ideas for this new version of Star Trek V, let me know!

Ranking the Star Wars films
Time
  1. The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Star Wars (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope)
  3. Return Of The Jedi
  4. The Last Starfighter
  5. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
  6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  7. Spaceballs
  8. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
  9. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  10. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  11. Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones

I know that The Last Starfighter and Spaceballs are not a part of the Star Wars franchise, but they both looked and felt like Star Wars movies.

An official restoration isn’t happening any time soon, as those early DCAU cartoons were edited on video. It’d take a lot of effort to get it done. Maybe they will sometime, but I don’t think the demand is there.

I wouldn’t mind an upscale project, but the DVDs suit me just fine for now.

Think you’re in the wrong thread.

Lol, yes. That keeps happening to me.

No biggie. ^.^

You can provide an HD upscale of the DVDs if you want.

Idea: 'Star Trek: The Original 10 Motion Pictures'... (TV Spot Compilation)
Time

Most recently, I have thought of making a compilation of TV spots from the pre-JJ Trek films. I found a whole ton of them on YouTube, but I cannot find any of the ones from The Search For Spock. Aand there are hardly any TV spots for Nemesis, which is just irritating. If anyone can find any TV spots, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

UPDATE (10/6/2017): I have found two TV spots for Star Trek II and III from this YouTuber called Movie & Video Game TV Spots. I also found another TV spot of Star Trek: Nemesis from TheClassicSports.

Oh I definitely plan to do it, as I said I have already cleaned up and upscaled the deleted scenes from the Blu-ray, and have the HDTV broadcast (Thanks Electric), but I didn’t have the chance yet to check if the deleted scenes match with the HDTV or if the cutting between the sources would be too distracting.

But if you can do it faster (I first have to clean up disc space), I will surely have no objections 😃

As much as I hate to admit, I would rather wait for you to finish what you’re doing. I must strongly recommend that you use the Blu-Ray for certain cases.
