Incredible!
Incredible!
Yarael Poof
Yeah, that’s the guy. That really does look sh*t.
There’s a member on the Jedi council that has a head and neck shaped like a spoon - that I thought looked really rubbish. I wanted to see him/her/it die during order 66.
A neck that long would be begging for a single clean sweep from Lord Vader’s lightsaber.
*edit - ah, I see I’m late to the party on this one. Yaddle… one of GL’s most baffling decisions.
Sporting a Peter Cushing FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL wig.
I won’t be buying any new box-set unless it includes the OOT restored. Any new bonus material will eventually appear online sooner or later. I already own enough copies of the S/E’s.
I have no desire to see CGI junk in 4K or in-my-face 3D either.
I think you lost all credibility for at least this thread for comparing sw fans to slaves.
We’re being treated like ones by Lucasfilm ever since '97. All we ever fucking wanted was the original versions. We have filed TWO petitions on this site, and yet they fell on deaf ears.
Agreed. The fans made him rich and in return we ask (shouldn’t have to) for little in return; just the original versions restored and released on the current home video format.
It’s too bad STAR WARS fans are a fractured bunch and aren’t hive-minded like the Borg, we’d all vote with our wallets and get the originals quick smart. F**k Disney/Lucasfilm.
Crazy.
You know, I just realized something. If we ever get another official release of the OOT, it’ll be restored by DISNEY. The same Disney that has run roughshod over all of their classic animated features by degraining and enhancing the colours. Their classic live action has fared better, but many of them aren’t even fully cleaned up, just scanned and released with zero bonus features.
I suspect that anybody expecting a Criterion Collection-style treatment has a BIG wake-up call coming…
If any further original trilogy outtakes are released they could have time codes all over them. No more deleted scenes presented clean.
Well, no OUT but at least something worthy of the 40th anniversary came about - the unveiling of previously unseen STAR WARS outtakes.
Just viewed the celebration Lucas panel and came away with the disturbing realisation that Lucas has no need for underwear - he has the cleanest a-hole in the galaxy.
Yea the only ones on the DVD are
Martin giving Ellen’s boss a ticked
Ellen talking to Brody after grounding Michael
The town council deciding whether or not to fire Martin, they all agree to fire him except for Vaughn who votes against it
The shark attacks the pilot underwater
Here’s some pretty rough footage of the other scenes
https://youtu.be/KcThHFiR3s8I never understood them releasing some scenes but not others on DVD
I used some of that footage in my JAWS 2 fan edit. Unfortunately it’s the only source available at the moment.
It’s inexplicable why some of these TV scenes but not all, made it to DVD/Blu-Ray.
The TBS TV version - with extra scenes, appears to be edited. The deleted scene in the police station with the secretary Polly starts earlier in that video you posted than it does in the TBS edit. The extended helicopter attack also shows more footage of the pilot struggling to get out of his harness than the TBS.
The recovery of the camera from the ORCA wreck is completely absent from the TBS version too.
How difficult would it have been to slap an English language onto this extended version and give it an official release on DVD/Blu-Ray. It would make a great extra. I wish SHOUT FACTORY or ARROW would get the rights to the JAWS sequels and give them REAL special edition respect. Next year would be the perfect opportunity for a 40th anniversary of JAWS 2 home video release!
Just occurred to me, anyone ever attempted it not sure on the quality of the scenes but still it would be interesting anyway, quint annoying that poor kid with the clarinet needs gets me every time and it shows where he got the piano wire lol
I recently completed a hybrid edit of JAWS. It contains all the extra material from the ABC TV edit only.
Using the fullscreen VHS (PAL) remastered 25th anniversary release from 2000 of JAWS.
The 5.1 soundtrack has been replaced with the original mono audio from the 2005 2-disc R1 (NTSC) 30th anniversary edition, adjusted for PAL speed-up.
The deleted scenes (widescreen 4x3) ,taken from the R4 2005 2-disc (PAL) release have been cropped to 4x3.
The additional deleted insert shots (2) - not available on home video - of Quint’s tackle box,I borrowed from a copy of the ABC TV edit.
The added footage has been colour-corrected,cropped and framed to match the 4x3 presentation.Extra scenes:
- Ellen Brody feeding the dogs.
- Brody & Cassidy alternate/extended dialogue.
- Mayor and Hendricks extended dialogue during band practice.
- Amity Music Shop.
- Amity Town Hall/Quint’s truck.
- Bounty hunters arrive on the island - extended.
- Bounty hunter shark kill frenzy.
- Hooper and Brody make their way to autopsy the shark.
- Two insert shots of Quint’s tackle box.
This version now contains all the language and violence of the theatrical cut with the extra material exclusive to the TV version.
I did the same for JAWS 2 - again, using a commercial fullscreen VHS tape and all additional footage from the TBS extended TV edit.
Awesome, I’ve always wanted to do something like that using the dvds with the deleted scenes included in them, sadly not all of Jaws 2’s scenes are in the DVD 😒
I’ve seen the deleted scenes from Jaws 2 on the DVD, and I know there’s more out there, but do you know what the deleted scenes consist of?
Extra scenes at the opening of the HOLIDAY INN - Ellen Brody tells a waitress to smile and look cute and Peterson tries to cut in when Brody & wife dance.
Martin drives the wife to work and ends up giving her boss (Len Peterson) a ticket for illegal parking - after two previous warnings.
Hendricks, Red & divers recover the camera at the last known location of the two missing divers - the ORCA’s resting place.
Extended scenes at the police station - Polly the secretary (recast) has some dialogue.
After grounding son Michael, Brody & wife have an extended dialogue scene which ends with him hiding his gun and poison-tipped bullets in the bathtub.
After the incident at the beach, Peterson convinces the Mayor to have a meeting with the selectmen, to vote Brody out of his job.
After Brody’s showing of the photograph - taken by the two missing divers - Peterson and the selectmen vote him out, with only the Mayor showing support for Brody.
Extended underwater attack on the helicopter pilot by the shark.
Dialogue scenes with the teenagers (throughout the film) have been cut.
An image exists of Bob clinging to a sailboat pontoon as he is about to be attacked by the shark.
Alternate scenes filmed by the original director - before he was fired - have never been seen (on home video) but exist as still images.
That’s just some of it.
Ah ok. I read from this book about the making of Jaws 2, only one thing from the original director is in the final cut-the fin rising above the water after the party in the beginning. A pretty cool shot too, really wish they added these scenes to the DVD bonus features
There’s an alternate take of the shark fin rising above the water in the trailer - along with other brief shots and dialogue missing from the final film.

Simply put, the STAR WARS prequel trilogy is a skid mark on cinema.

It’s a shame the rest of the deleted scenes aren’t available (on an official release) yet, otherwise I would have created better quality widescreen versions of the films.
JAWS 2 had some interesting stuff cut from it.
I can only assume that thhere is something more extensive and bigger coming from CBS with all those cans and that these releases are just teasers. I can only assume that eventually we will be seeing longer restored cuts and more outtakes and bllopers as they digitally scan these reels. I mean there are a LOT of reels and they have been looking at this stuff for a DECADE. Seems to me that we will eventually see Star Trek Blu Rays released with extended episodes with cleaned up and color graded cutting room floor footage etc. Thoughts, opinions? I can only imagine we will most likely get a few more Roddenberry Vault releases and then a whole new set of episodes with the “found stuff” restored and used in context of the episodes. Thoughts?
If extended versions of classic STAR TREK episodes were made available,it would be an instant purchase for me.
THE RODDENBERRY VAULT appears to have some branching issues for the episodes themselves,I chose to view “ARENA” with original mono and SFX.I got the mono audio but the Gorn captain still blinks!
I was hoping to see deleted moments from “THE MAN TRAP” and “WHAT ARE LITTLE GIRLS MADE OF?” Unfortunately none appeared.
I’d welcome a second VAULT edition - if it ever happened.

I do have an AMC airing of Jaws from 2003, no commercials but VHS sourced if anyone is interested in me sharing that. I’m also interested if anyone has considered doing a complete edit of the 1995 doc combining parts from all edits including the 2 hour cut on the LD/'05 DVD/BD, 10 minute cut from '95 VHS, and 1 hour cut from '00 DVD. All have certain parts not in the other. It’d be nice to cut it in a similar fashion as the one hour cut with music and photographs since the 2 hour version is cut together rather boringly.
I only noticed that the shortened version of the documentary included a never-before-seen raw outtake of the 4th of July beach panic scene. What other differences are there besides the use of production stills?I heard that there was an extended version of JAWS screened in 2000 to celebrate the 25th anniversary,it included deleted scenes but not as many as the old ABC TV edit from the late 70’s/early 80’s,is this true?
The documentary first. I have to watch the one hour version again but off hand I remember a bit where Richard Zanuck was speaking of the casting process. He said something like ‘Our philosophy was the star was the shark. We have our star so we don’t need big names. Just get good actors’. This isn’t in the two hour cut. Also the 10 minute cut is the only cut with Spielberg’s full closing line ‘Jaws was a fun movie to watch but not a fun movie to make. It was an amazing experience for me under the worst conditions, and sometimes very sweet conditions, but most of the time under the worst conditions’.
I’m not sure about the ABC edit but from what you mentioned it sounds similar to the AMC version I taped. It has a few deleted scenes but lacks a few that are in the old ABC edit notably the extended scene in the Brody kitchen and Hooper and Brody talking under the jetty before cutting open the Tiger shark. And yes it does have the horrible sound EX from the surround mix, not the original mono.
Thanks! I remember my old Australian VHS 25th anniversary fullscreen copy of JAWS from 2000,also had a cut-down version of the 1995 laserdisc documentary-now at 60 minutes. At the start it featured a rather well edited montage from the film which ended on a close-up of Quint’s face screaming as the shark bites down on his legs. This new opening for the doc was more dynamic than the original flat presentation on laserdisc.I forgot to transfer this 60 minute version to DVD-R before binning the tape. The version on the 25th anniversary R4 DVD was shortened by a further 10 minutes-and didn’t include the montage.
If you put together an extended version of the 1995 doc are you going to use the original laserdisc title cards for each chapter-which were later removed for the DVD and Blu-Ray ‘full-length versions’?I dont actually have the LD so the best I could do is the DVD version. Odd that your 25th Anniversary DVD features a cut version of the one hour cut. The doc on the US 25th Anniversary DVD was identical to the cut on the US 25th Anniversary VHS and had the montage. However the 2012 US DVD did feature a slightly edited version of the one hour doc which lacked the montage.
Are you sure about the montage being on the 25th anniversary R1 DVD of JAWS? I just checked my fullscreen R1 DVD 25th anniversary edition from 2000-it’s not included.Which is a shame.I assume the bonus content for both widescreen and fullscreen 2000 R1 DVD editions are the same?

I know jerryshadoe on FanRes has the 1997 LD track synced to the BD. I’d actually like to maybe hear a hybrid mix using the 2005 mono as base, cause compared to the 2012 mono IMO its somewhat crisper and less flawed, but elements from the LD track. Another issue the 2005 and 2012 mono tracks have is some slight crackle in some places, notably the shark cage attack.
The 2005 DVD and 2012 Blu Ray mono soundtracks may be the same.I noticed damage in the same spot during the Kintner “Just ten more minutes.” Scene.
My video again incase anyone missed it. It was a little far down on the previous page.
Very interesting, thanks! Are there any differences with the mono track from the 1995 Signature Collection box set also, compared to the tracks in your video?
That 1991 track with the replacement background music during the Kintner scene sounded sh*t.
The 1995 LD most likely matches the 1997 LD since I have the 1995 VHS and the examples I noted from the LD are present on that VHS.
I may be wrong but i remember the sound of the fog horn at the begining of the tiger shark autopsy sounding louder on the LD release than the Blu Ray mono track?

Sounds interesting. Will you also list every change and edit to each film or will this be a list of all alternate TV edits only?
What kind of list?
