Well, no OUT but at least something worthy of the 40th anniversary came about - the unveiling of previously unseen STAR WARS outtakes.

Just viewed the celebration Lucas panel and came away with the disturbing realisation that Lucas has no need for underwear - he has the cleanest a-hole in the galaxy.

I never understood them releasing some scenes but not others on DVD

I used some of that footage in my JAWS 2 fan edit. Unfortunately it’s the only source available at the moment.

It’s inexplicable why some of these TV scenes but not all, made it to DVD/Blu-Ray.

The TBS TV version - with extra scenes, appears to be edited. The deleted scene in the police station with the secretary Polly starts earlier in that video you posted than it does in the TBS edit. The extended helicopter attack also shows more footage of the pilot struggling to get out of his harness than the TBS.

The recovery of the camera from the ORCA wreck is completely absent from the TBS version too.

How difficult would it have been to slap an English language onto this extended version and give it an official release on DVD/Blu-Ray. It would make a great extra. I wish SHOUT FACTORY or ARROW would get the rights to the JAWS sequels and give them REAL special edition respect. Next year would be the perfect opportunity for a 40th anniversary of JAWS 2 home video release!

Martin drives the wife to work and ends up giving her boss (Len Peterson) a ticket for illegal parking - after two previous warnings.

Hendricks, Red & divers recover the camera at the last known location of the two missing divers - the ORCA’s resting place.

Extended scenes at the police station - Polly the secretary (recast) has some dialogue.

After grounding son Michael, Brody & wife have an extended dialogue scene which ends with him hiding his gun and poison-tipped bullets in the bathtub.

After the incident at the beach, Peterson convinces the Mayor to have a meeting with the selectmen, to vote Brody out of his job.

After Brody’s showing of the photograph - taken by the two missing divers - Peterson and the selectmen vote him out, with only the Mayor showing support for Brody.

Ah ok. I read from this book about the making of Jaws 2, only one thing from the original director is in the final cut-the fin rising above the water after the party in the beginning. A pretty cool shot too, really wish they added these scenes to the DVD bonus features

There’s an alternate take of the shark fin rising above the water in the trailer - along with other brief shots and dialogue missing from the final film.

It’s a shame the rest of the deleted scenes aren’t available (on an official release) yet,otherwise I would have created better quality widescreen versions of the films.

JAWS 2 had some interesting stuff cut from it.

If extended versions of classic STAR TREK episodes were made available,it would be an instant purchase for me.
THE RODDENBERRY VAULT appears to have some branching issues for the episodes themselves,I chose to view “ARENA” with original mono and SFX.I got the mono audio but the Gorn captain still blinks!
I was hoping to see deleted moments from “THE MAN TRAP” and “WHAT ARE LITTLE GIRLS MADE OF?” Unfortunately none appeared.
I’d welcome a second VAULT edition - if it ever happened.

The documentary first. I have to watch the one hour version again but off hand I remember a bit where Richard Zanuck was speaking of the casting process. He said something like ‘Our philosophy was the star was the shark. We have our star so we don’t need big names. Just get good actors’. This isn’t in the two hour cut. Also the 10 minute cut is the only cut with Spielberg’s full closing line ‘Jaws was a fun movie to watch but not a fun movie to make. It was an amazing experience for me under the worst conditions, and sometimes very sweet conditions, but most of the time under the worst conditions’.

I’m not sure about the ABC edit but from what you mentioned it sounds similar to the AMC version I taped. It has a few deleted scenes but lacks a few that are in the old ABC edit notably the extended scene in the Brody kitchen and Hooper and Brody talking under the jetty before cutting open the Tiger shark. And yes it does have the horrible sound EX from the surround mix, not the original mono.

I remember my old Australian VHS 25th anniversary fullscreen copy of JAWS from 2000,also had a cut-down version of the 1995 laserdisc documentary-now at 60 minutes.At the start it featured a rather well edited montage from the film which ended on a close-up of Quint’s face screaming as the shark bites down on his legs.This new opening for the doc was more dynamic than the original flat presentation on laserdisc.I forgot to transfer this 60 minute version to DVD-R before binning the tape.The version on the 25th anniversary R4 DVD was shortened by a further 10 minutes-and didn’t include the montage.
If you put together an extended version of the 1995 doc are you going to use the original laserdisc title cards for each chapter-which were later removed for the DVD and Blu-Ray ‘full-length versions’?

I dont actually have the LD so the best I could do is the DVD version. Odd that your 25th Anniversary DVD features a cut version of the one hour cut. The doc on the US 25th Anniversary DVD was identical to the cut on the US 25th Anniversary VHS and had the montage. However the 2012 US DVD did feature a slightly edited version of the one hour doc which lacked the montage.

Are you sure about the montage being on the 25th anniversary R1 DVD of JAWS? I just checked my fullscreen R1 DVD 25th anniversary edition from 2000-it’s not included.Which is a shame.I assume the bonus content for both widescreen and fullscreen 2000 R1 DVD editions are the same?

I’d actually like to maybe hear a hybrid mix using the 2005 mono as base, cause compared to the 2012 mono IMO its somewhat crisper and less flawed, but elements from the LD track. The 2005 DVD and 2012 Blu Ray mono soundtracks may be the same.I noticed damage in the same spot during the Kintner “Just ten more minutes.” Scene.

The 1995 LD most likely matches the 1997 LD since I have the 1995 VHS and the examples I noted from the LD are present on that VHS.

I may be wrong but i remember the sound of the fog horn at the begining of the tiger shark autopsy sounding louder on the LD release than the Blu Ray mono track?
