Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

That would be a bit mind blowing. Maybe he’s confused as to why he’s materialized, even a bit upset having been to the other side. With his X-Wing having been submerged for years, I doubt he has a way off the planet, unless somebody, (the F.O.?) goes there to see if he’s really dead.
The production will have to keep things really under wraps to hide a return to Ahch-To.

The conflict with Worf felt a bit contrived.

I don’t think it’s ever said onscreen the E-E is designed for Borg combat, unlike the Defiant when it was introduced on DS9. It may have been down to the opinion of one admiral to keep Picard away from the pending battle for all we know. I’m sure he was certified fit for duty after the events of BOBW.

Yes, but Keeler didn’t turn out to be a drunkard with less than altruistic ambitions either. 😉

If they weren’t under the gun to make sure the Vulcans passing through the solar system see Cochrane’s first flight, maybe they could take the more subtle approach.

Where Lily being aboard the Enterprise fighting off Borg is concerned, a cover story isn’t going to to help much.

Isn’t it just trying to repair the timeline the same as what Kirk did in City On The Edge of Forever though? The Borg already interfered by going back and attempting to kill Cochrane and prevent the flight.
IIRC, when they are abandoning the Enterprise E, the escape pods are on a trajectory to an uninhabited area, and somebody had a line about trying to stay out of history’s way.

If there are pro-Borg assimilating the Earth arguments, I’d love to hear them!

Disney to buy 20th (21st) Century Fox? (Disney has now bought them - 14 Dec '17)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchstone_Pictures

Merely a label than a production arm these days. Last time I saw the logo was in front of Lucasfilm’s Strange Magic.
Once upon a time, Disney was jittery enough about Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Nightmare Before Christmas that both were released under the Touchstone banner.
Will they stop spending the money generated by properties they don’t fit the Disney mold? Avatar is hardly a family film to begin with. 😛

Seems to defeat one purpose for getting Fox in the first place. Disney has released R rated films and other edgy fare under their Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners since the 80’s, why mess with Fox if it’s not broke?

They’d better hope the Avatar deal is ironclad, or Cameron might shop the new films around to another studio. 😉

A PG-13 Deadpool movie would also be kind of pointless.

Disney has a huge film/tv library to exploit which they’ve sadly neglected on physical media in recent years. Cartoon fans might pony up if every short cartoon ever made by the studio was available for streaming.

Or the never-released director’s cut of the Black Cauldron??? One can dream.

Namby-pamby “you’ll-never-see-Song-of-the-Song-released-again-bitches” Disney release an R-rated cut of one of their animated films? HAH!

How can it be a R rated cut when the edits were made before it was ever submitted to the MPAA? And having seen cels of what was cut, it would have likely received a PG-13 at most back in 1985. That Disney put out a PG rated animated film ruffled the usual suspects who think all animation should be kiddie fluff at the time anyway.

Yeah, it sucks. But it’s been that way for awhile.

It’s just getting worse, though. My grandmother had a friend who invented an electric engine sometime in the 50s or 60s, patented it, the whole thing. Apparently, the feds confiscated it as being a “threat to national security” and completely destroyed him. From what transpired with Tucker, that’s not too far fetched. I’m sure there are plenty of other similar stories out there.

I’m reminded of a stand up comedian’s joke I once heard about someone who announces they’ve invented an engine that runs on tap water, who’s quickly shot dead by a mysterious assassin moments later.

The late 1950’s series One Step Beyond, (similar to The Twilight Zone except the stories were supposed to be based on factual events) had an episode about an inventor who suddenly vanishes after demonstrating a pellet that turned water into gasoline.

I don’t think it’s gonna happen. They’d surely have released news this big along with the recent cast announcement.

Lucasfilm clearly stated that this is the “final installment of the Skywalker saga”. Singular, not plural. I don’t think they’re all of a sudden going to change this into a two-film ordeal partway through development, especially after the bad rep they’ve acquired after the productions of Rogue One and Solo. They’re gonna take this as smooth as possible and strive towards making a coherent, satisfying conclusion.

Just my two cents.

They clearly state lots of things. 😉
