The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

Exactly. It is amazing it took them this long to do it.

Maybe it was because I was younger then, but I always found the OT ships fascinating. But the only PT ship to ever be of any interest to me was the Naboo fighter. Not sure why, but I always kind of liked that one. Kind of funny how we all made such a connection with the Falcon in the OT, but there was nothing like that in the PT. No special ship they flew around in and cared if it got damaged or not, everything was extremely expendable.

It is also kind of silly that we don't see a bunch of the PT ships flying around in the OT, Obviously we still see people driving around in twenty year old cars today. But nothing in the PT even resembles sleeker versions of ships seen in the OT. It honestly feels like two different universes. I really thought we'd be seeing Y-Wings and X-Wings or something a lot like them in the PT.

One of the long rumored changes to the next incarnation of the OT was adding some Naboo fighters to the Rebel fleet scenes.

Whenever I see an old DeLorean on the road, I am reminded of Luke's Lanspeeder. ;)

I believe these are supposed to be Y-wings in their original configuration. Not prototypes.

One factoid that's been around since the 70's, was that the rebels used a lot of old ships, and modify the heck out of them to keep them running. The streamlined fuselage was removed for ease of maintenance.

This is one reason a lot of us old coots thought we would be seeing shiny new X-Wings in the prequels. ;)

I've enjoyed the first two episodes, for many of the same reasons already stated.

If only they would tone down the battle droid slapstick. They are more annoying now than they ever were in the prequels!

I've long presumed Order 66 is some sort of deep subconscious brainwashing thing ala "The Manchurian Candidate". The clones simply can't disobey it.

How the hell Order 66 was programmed into an Army bought and paid for by an alleged Jedi is anyone's guess. I don't think the Kaminoans would do it without asking a lot of questions, and Palpy can't possibly have met every clone personally...

Info Wanted: What might THIS be? (on ebay)
Time

Judging by the size of the reels, this wasn't the whole movie anyway. AFAIK, there wasn't a legit Super 8 release besides Derann, and that was the complete film.

I noticed the buyer seems to be selling a lot of Super 8 films, so we might find out what's on those reels eventually.

Although I think anyone who goes out of their way to send a nastygram in reply to a polite inquiry probably isn't someone worth doing business with. Let them get ripped off, so we don't have to! ;)

'Bring Back... Star Wars' (UK TV - Channel Four Documentary) (Released)
Time

Just like with Star Trek, people freak when they find out not everyone in the cast is buddy buddy, or anything like their onscreen persona.

It's a fun job, (sometimes) but it's still a job. And they probably sometimes get sick to death talking about films they worked on years or decades ago. When Mark Hamill stiffs some orphans, then I'll get upset. ;)

And for the record, Mark has been a voice actor long before Star Wars.

It does sound like Anthony Daniels needs to lose the restraining bolt though!

It's interesting that the one Old Republic era story the old Marvel comic was able to do had Ben Kenobi in a sleek black outfit as well.

Wow, really? Marvel did a single issue in the Old Republic era? I did not know about that, I'll have to attempt to track that down. Was it merely a short flashback? Or a whole one shot issue about Kenobi in the Old Republic days?

It's a whole issue, but framed by Leia telling the story to everyone aboard the Millennium Falcon. Given the huge list of things Lucasfilm didn't want them to touch between movies, I'm amazed they got this one out.

Obi Wan does not wear robes in the actual story.

I think Luke was intending to prevent anyone from pursuing them. And it's not like anybody couldn't jump off the sail barge!

On second thought, we're lucky they didn't digitally add in some henchmen escaping to make Luke more of a nice guy. ;)
