The projector in question has the modification for telecine use, but it crops the frame severely. I also don't have the 8 ton metal file cabinet I used to set my Super 8 up on. I could feel the vibrations from the 16mm coming up the tripod even.
Anyway, the SEN scene is there!

It didn't cost much, thankfully. Got it today.
Took a while to get rolling, as all three reels needed to be rewound. The projector also tortured me by munching up the leader on two reels.
This print is really pink and badly scratched. In spite of the WB/Kinney logo, it's the post '77 cut so far. (Watching this slightly out of order, so I haven't gotten to SEN scene with the kids yet to be 100% certain.) Curiously, the final reel has a WB television logo on the end, but nothing has been cut for tv.
I will attempt some screencaps from the DV tape, but it won't be a pretty sight!

Thanks for sharing this, Ripplin! I've tried scanning my old Starlogs, but can't get them perfectly flat and legible on a scanner without risking damage to the spines.
If you find the 1987 Sebastian Shaw interview, or the Richard Marquand one I think they did sometime after Jedi, those would be invaluable around here. :)

That's an amazing find. Empire was still in pre-production when this was taken. I had the impression the Fett costume wasn't aged and painted gray until it was at Elstree.
Somewhere there's a transcript of Lucas' appearance at the 10th Anniversary Con, and his answer to a fan question about Fett seemed to show his lack of awareness of the cult following, IIRC.

Boba was also among the few SW action figures Elliott showed to E.T., and referred to by name.

Boba Fett wasn't cool when he killed him in 1983. His cult status came about in the 1990s, at which time Lucas decided to make him the central figure of the entire Clone War plot.
Has the pre-ESB mania been forgotten already? The fact that millions of fans didn't lapse into comas in 1978 during the Holiday Special, because of the cartoon segment that introduced Boba? The screams of anguish because Kenner denied us the god given right to shoot our eyes out with our "free" Fett action figures? ;)
And Boba was cool in 1983. His going out like a punk was razzed by fans at the time. Marvel resurrected him mere months after the movie came out. Sure, they had to put him back in the damn Sarlacc again, but that's beside the point.

I have the Japan LD, and it's the same print. Mystery white fleck in the corner and all. I didn't spot any censoring, but I'll look the next time through. The subs are below the actual image, so they could be masked out.
Screening the 16mm has been delayed to to the bulb blowing out in the projector and not being able to find a replacement locally. Did find a bulb on Ebay, and waiting for that to show up. Some days I just want to bang my head on the wall when this stuff happens.
My CLD-D704 was shipped back to me unexpectedly. The repair shop was supposed to notify me and give a tracking number ahead of time. Lucky I was home at the time! I haven't had time to carve out some space for it in my already crowded A/V setup, so unboxing it will have to wait a while.

Fortunately, a lot of these fine folks have been interviewed over the years. The best way to honor their memory is keeping the original versions they helped create from being forgotten.
I've been thinking there's a need for an online archive of pre-1997 interviews with key OT personnel.
Starlog was supposed to have an online presence after the dead tree version ceased publication, yet their website is in limbo. AFAIK, they did one of the few interviews with Sebastian Shaw.

Probably worth mentioning that some Tron Legacy footage was screened for George. Jeff Bridges' younger CGI head was probably in there.
Spoiler alert if you haven't seen the movie yet.

Very interesting.
None of the SW films seem to be in circulation. The guy who puts on revival screenings near me has complained in the past he can't get any of them from Fox. Perhaps this is another rogue screening like in Boston?

I don't recall LUH asking permission to have a baby in any version? The film implies having a baby the old fashioned way is as illegal as having sex in the first place.
My notes on the ITA cut are several pages back, if they are of any help.

You have some evidence you wish to share with the class? ;)
Even if it's a fan made dub, (something I've actually done with chewing gum, bailing wire and a Japanese SW clone 20 years ago) it's funny as heck. And many of us here would like to get the complete dialog track.

Welcome aboard, THX! An no worries about the auction. It didn't get into the crazy bid territory that Star Wars prints get into. I actually missed out on the auction the first time, and didn't expect any competition. At least it wasn't George. ;)
If the company you mention would actually transfer such a print "no questions asked", that might be a good asset to have around here. I don't suppose they can do 35mm?
Just to keep everyone updated, I haven't been able to screen the print yet due to the rotten weather, and my own rotten health. Believe me, I'm itching to find out what version it is.
I did however find a place to get my long ago busted Pioneer CLD-D704 repaired for a lot less than I thought it would cost. (I was this close to taking it on a one way trip to the local electronics recycling center!) This player has some nice user adjustable video noise reduction options my other machines don't have, so I'll have a third option for LD transfer by next month.
And msycamore, I will get the discs mailed out to you after Christmas is over.

They went in a slightly different direction this time. Using that melody from The Who must have cost them a bit. And yet the disco music didn't sound like the real Meco tunes they've used before. Palpy's early career on Naboo was fun. He's more interesting on RC than he is in the prequels.
Gary the stormtrooper is becoming a character in his own right. I chuckled when I recognized what tune he was humming in the Lars' bathroom. The Ewok scene was both disturbing and hilarious.
Luke's brief encounter with that Wampa had an amazing amount of pathos. Was that based on something from another movie?
The shocking truth about Jar Jar made my day.
The fact the Sarlacc doesn't have that damned Audrey II mouth, and we got original Anakin ghost makes me think someone on the show is on our side. (Not to mention "Yub Nub" song!)
Gratuitous THX-1138 references always make me smile.
And "You Special Edition M****r F****r!" needs to be put on a t-shirt! It should be our new rallying cry for the next decade. ;)

R.C. has made some jokes at George's expense. The Jaws special edition sketch was clearly taking potshots at his revisionism.
