Wasn't there a DTS MIB Laserdisc released though?
Could have sworn there was a Superbit release too.

By all means, get it done and out there, then take a vacation before I spring any new projects on you. ;)
We can always revisit the extras later. I still need to photograph that old newspaper article. I decided it's much too fragile to put through a scanner.
Ebay is our best bet. I spotted several DTS CD's from a seller who didn't really know what they actually are. None of them were the SE's though.
I was tempted to ask if they had Empire, but also leery it could jack up the potential asking price...
I could live with a 448kps DD audio track. I still have my Laserdiscs if I start missing the PCM too much. ;)
Is there going to be room for the trailer and some stills? Do we include the "lost" SEN scene from the 16mm, or save it for the "Grindhouse" version?
I've been thinking the trailer could be restored using the LD footage. Someone around here probably has the skills to recreate the flying logo at the beginning, and the title card at the end.
The owner of those discs, (SW and ROTJ) does not want to risk loaning them out again. (They were returned scratched up the last time.)
They are easily copied, and arrangements are being made to do so.

Not bad...I do like the idea of R2 getting one word at a time. In a similar manner, how about you...sunk...my....battleship?
I may do a deleted scene with a compilation of my favorite ones that I didn't end up using.
I can see that working if the only non garbled words from Obi Wan are grid coordinates from the game.

The only downside is people thinking it's a reference to that bloated summer movie. ;)
This is really interesting...
Never knew the original THX short screened with Star Wars in Japan.

Sounded like it was part of a question about that pesky third trilogy George insists he was never going to make in the first place. ;)
I scanned those pages while doing a related project a long time back. I can upload all the purple Yoda panels if people really want to see them.
Bluemilk has it slightly wrong. The regular monthly issues had the redrawn Yoda, and the paperback had the purple, as it went to press early. (At least that what's I read about the whole thing back in the 80's.)
The Hasbro McQuarrie Concept Yoda figure is pretty close to that design, but is green.
Okay, which one of you was the guy trying to talk to George on the way to his limo? Confess! ;)
I have the first one around here somewhere. World of Fire originally ran in the UK Star Wars weekly magazine IIRC.
Does your copy of Empire have the really creepy purple Yoda based on the concept art?
There was a Dark Shadows movie made with the original cast in the early 70's that is quite faithful to the show. Hopefully, that will finally get a DVD or Blu Ray release now.
"Flag on the moon?"
"Find the shard?"
"Beware of Sleestak?"
“Kenneth, what is the frequency?”
It might be a good idea to make Obi's transmission totally garbled as Artoo is trying to make it out.
Do we post our entries here, or in a PM?
Wow, can those guys go five minutes without using the F word? I don't think they have any real facts on the movie either.
I want those ninety minutes back. ;)
That's one I haven't heard before. Was there some reason the Wheat brothers didn't direct Brimely's scenes?
Can't believe I've never noticed this thread before.
I keep wishing Pioneer would put out a limited production player or something. Why should vinyl records get all the retro love? Single sided playback and LD only, so as to reduce the things that most often break down in combo players. (If I have to get my CLD-D704 repaired one more time, I may shoot it!) Maybe some digital tweaks you can turn on and off in the video section. CAV still frames jitter like crazy on a modern HD set. And a built in AC3 demodulator, dammit!
BTW, trying to prune one's LD collection down to the essentials is a pain in the ass. Even if there's a better version out on Blu Ray, the cover art is hard to let go of.
Those astro droids are smarter than anyone else in the movie. ;)
I'll just leave this here. Someone posted this over at the HTF, and I simply lost it.
Here's the link in case the photo doesn't show up here.

Disney, but I have seen the other of which you speak.
I liked the design of the air ships and a few other bits but I found the story to be incredibly boring.
It aired as "A Princess of Mars", but for the DVD it's been retitled "John Carter of Mars". A dig at Disney's cryptic marketing scheme?
Thanks for uploading the file, it took a long time to download though. I need to rewatch it again, but it looks like you nailed it.
Are you saying you know people who could translate Japanese?
I'm falling behind on some other things, but I think I can get back to capturing the LD's this week. Are you sure you don't want the original mono track uncompressed as well?
It was a lot of fun, in spite of the technical glitches.
I like the idea of premiering AOTR this way.

John Carter. Craptastic. 1 ball.
Disney version or cheapo SciFi channel version?
If only someone in the know would explain why there have been two different sequences all these years, and why the one I grew up watching has been buried. Animated films usually don't have alternate cuts like this.
