Presumably, George and or Lucasfilm is making his early story material available to Dark Horse, so why would anyone be bitching about this project?
As with Splinter of the Mind's Eye, this is a glimpse into the Star Wars that might have been.
One of my instructors back in college had a pet peeve about the use of "filmed" to describe something shot on video. I have unfortunately inherited their madness.
Looks promising. I always loved Ralph McQuarrie's artwork based on Lucas' early ideas. Hope we get lightsaber wielding stormtroopers too!
The 2006 George Clooney film "The Good German" took great pains to shot the movie as "1940's style" as possible.

The Steve Martin comedy "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" is another good example. They had to carefully match up sets and the lighting of many a classic film noir, for it to appear Martin's character was in the same scenes with the likes of Bogart. (No Forrest Gump level CGI in 1982.) They were fortunate some of the guys who actually lit those films were still around.
It's probably not impossible to use old lenses with a digital camera. HD video would have manipulated to resemble the film stocks of a certain era.
On the flip side of the same coin, I've seen music videos shot with ancient broadcast gear to get that vintage tv look.
I don't think Disney is going to let Fett stay dead.;)
I find it curious none of the Jedi seem to recognize Maul's species. Was he in hiding the whole time before Episode One?
We did get a little taste of that controlled, calmer, at peace Luke in ROTJ. (I also liked how he responded to Han's gratitude in the deleted sandstorm scene.) He certainly came out of his final duel with Vader a wiser person who knows now how not to let a foe push his buttons.
Mark has also had the chance to play other characters tempered by war since the OT, and I look forward to seeing Luke as a master.
I'd be willing to bet the first teaser we get has a shot of Mark taking his hood off ala Sir Alec in SW. And audiences will go crazy. ;)
The Clone Wars has established there are a lot of Hutts. Would be interesting to see a young agile Hutt who is more "hands on" in their misdeeds.
I also have my doubts Ziro was actually killed by that traitorous skank Sy Snootles. ;)
Since I cleaned up my old Laptop, I'm still waffling on upgrading to Win 7, since I'm pretty sure it can't handle 8. Only real reason to keep it running XP is my Dad's old scanner. (Which is bigger than the one built into my printer.)
Since my favorite games are kind of old, making it into a dedicated gaming platform is another idea.
There are no drivers for the newer OS. A new dedicated scanner of similar size would set me back more than $200.
Forced obsolescence sucks.
Funny how Dark Horse brought Maul back with cybernetic legs clashing with Obi Wan for a 2005 comic, (set only a few years after ROTS) and Clone Wars ended up nicking the idea.
If there were Sith whose numbers grew in the shadows since ROTJ, I could see Vader being a cult figure to them.
I like the idea of a female villain. One of the Marvel comic's best villians started out as a double agent tasked by Vader with destroying Luke's reputation in the Rebel Alliance, and eventually became like Vader. One of the few characters originated in the Marvel book to cross over into the EU novels.
Did Max Rebo pull out of his long tailspin of drinking, drugs, and out of control womanizing to reform the band?
Leia has been a role model to many young women over the years. Carrie appeared on the game show Deal or No Deal, (when they did a Star Wars theme) to cheer on a contestant who cited Leia as inspiring her to overcome the hardships in her life.
Leia being tempted by the dark side when things couldn't be worse? Perhaps. Actually turning evil? Not a good idea.
I have the uncensored LD, but as I'm in the midst of some home repair, it's not accessible at the moment.
Would a DV capture of that shot be preferable to a DVD capture?
I agree!
The question whose answer we all may dread, is Jar Jar still alive?
One thing that hasn't changed much since the old days is video game commercials rarely show you the actual game being played. I was marveling at the Bioshock ad, when I saw "not actual gameplay footage" in microscopic font at the bottom of the screen.
Mind you, it's not as deceptive now as it was in the 80's, when ads for Atari 2600 games looked like something out of Tron, and Colecovision implied stuff would be flying out of your tv set.

Eddie 2 was an ill conceived follow up when the original film (which didn't make a dent at the box office) became popular on cable and home video, and the soundtrack sold well. I can't even think of a song from the sequel off the top of my head.
I hope you realize we've both just seriously dated ourselves. Now I've got "On the Dark Side" in my head.
I'm more dated than that, believe me. ;)
I've been suggesting Frink use that song in ROTR.
The new movie might get Disney to release Return To Oz on Blu Ray, and that would be a good thing.
Frink, will this be another JDownloader thing?
ainchent, LOTR What's Up Tiger Lily style? Tell me more!
All of which the Clone Wars series actually managed to do right.
Anyone else get a ton of spam in their email today? Most of it Russian? Haven't seen a flood like this in years...

There’s not enough makeup in the world to make Fisher look human anymore.
I don’t understand why she would want to be in this film.
That is not someone who belongs on the big screen.
Ford should vanish as well.
All that is needed is Hamill’s version of Obi-Wan (Old Luke).
The word that all three seem to be coming back reeks of desperation. That first line can certainly be construed as an insult.
Wait... are Darth Hade and imperialscum the same person?
No, I screwed up editing the post I was quoting.

We all try to look our best when a photo is taken. (In theory.) Unfortunately for actors and other famous people, paparazzi are literally under every rock. Pictures are taken every day of the week, every moment out in public, healthy or sick, bad hair day, happy or sad. And plenty of sleazy tabloids and website to buy those pictures.
Think of the worst day you've had lately, and imagine someone has pictures of you from it, and is passing them around.
