Did not know this. Interesting tidbit for the day 😛

There’s a hidden commentary track for the music video on the now out of print “Weird Al” Yankovic Live! concert DVD of his 1999 tour. Apparently the spoilers were so on the money, he only had to make minor changes after finally getting into an early TPM screening.

There were plenty of people who hated TPM right out of the gate. The Jar Jar hate machine started before the movie came out. There were many plot leaks back then compared to now. It was the golden age of spoiler websites. Weird Al wrote The Saga Begins before even seeing TPM, just using the leaks.

Among all the prequel characters that appear in Disney parks, Jar Jar is noticeably absent.

Info: STAR WARS Trilogy 1997 SE DTS Discs (on ebay)

Yikes! Did prices on DTS theater discs just go up, or is this seller overestimating their value? I paid a mere pittance many years ago for the ones I have in my collection.

“Hey look - it says ‘Star Wars’ on it. You should sell that on eBay - it must be worth a fortune. Those collectors are nuts, they’ll pay any amount of money for something with Star Wars on it.”

Like this SE Trailer C for $400

Utter madness, as the discs are easily copied. I’ve seen 35mm prints for sale with duplicate DTS discs. The sellers don’t conceal the fact they’re copies.

The future of OT.com - UPDATE: Please donate!
Time

As of Jan. 26th, we have raised $141.85! You guys rock! 😃

A visual thermometer type deal showing how much has been currently raised would be ideal. If anyone knows how to make one, please let us know! It would be cool if we could get one that looks like this.

And yeah, linking donations to project downloads is a very bad idea.

With 20th century in Disney’s grasp, what are the odds of an OUT release?
Time

Even though I’m bumping my own thread I think this needs saying.
As the weeks get closer and closer to the merger finishing I feel that us OUT fans and protectors should be extra cautious about rumours and also should keep our ears to the grindstone for any comments from Disney. Ideally they will announce a restoration at about the end of December 2019 or Spring 2020 to coincide with the release of the BD of IX or as a precursor of it to generate good will. However I do think that at the next SW celebration we need to get one of our own to interview Kathy to get an actual answer on this. So with that we wait for what will come and for Harmy’s eventual release of 3.0.

Doesn’t one have to be some sort of journalist/blogger/podcaster/whatever to get such access at celebration? And IIRC, open Q&A sessions have been screened carefully in the past, at least where George is concerned.

If I’m not mistaken, he was having McQuarrie redo the paintings so they could all see how the shots would look with the new Falcon design.

Makes sense. I wish the originals had been included in the McQuarrie portfolio at the time. Thanks for the explanation! 😃

That’s unusual. Did you have an unread message waiting?

It’s a cool design. What I find interesting is there are versions of the Ralph McQuarrie paintings featuring what eventually became the Tantive, but the portfolio released after the film only features the Falcon we know.

Was Lucas quietly revising the history of the film even then?

Hindsight being 20/20, I think they worried too much about a resemblance to Space 1999’s Eagle transporter, as that is at least a kissing cousin of the Moonbus in 2001.

IIRC, somewhere was said that they made an error on the first squeeze LD release: they forgot to grade the colors. I think somewhere was stated that James Cameron was not amused.

I guess that would explain why we’re not getting True Lies or The Abyss on an HD disc format until hell freezes over. 😉

Possibly worth noting, given the nature of his website and the way he’s only posting little, skewed thumbnails, that this is essentially an advertisement.

The thought crossed my mind, and someone also pointed out to me in a PM that several other SW forums got the exact same post. But we got a nice thread out of it, and we need more of those around here. Never look a gift Taun Taun in the mouth. 😃
