Wow. Just wow.
You come back here like nothing happened? You could at least publicly apologize for that little archive.org stunt you pulled first.

Now that's an action figure! I shudder to think how much it costs these days.

It's also possible it's been sitting in a museum for a while. (It's about the only ship to have survived both Death Star battles.) Maybe Han has to recruit a bunch of oddball characters to "borrow" it. ;)

I want to see it again! Torn between it and the Rifftrax Live Godzilla thing Thursday night. Would be sweet if the box office put GOTG ahead of TMNT next weekend.
Are there any deluxe action figures out there? If they make a "life size" Rocket, I'm in deep trouble. ;)

Also worth keeping in mind Han was always tweaking the Falcon, so there's thirty years' worth of modifications and patches since we last saw her.
Stuff that would make any proper shipyard tech faint from fright that this old crate is even flying. ;)
JEDIT:Ryan beat me to it.

I know I'm probably killing the buzz but is it just me or does this actually look terrible?
Ever imagined what is on that wall in the Falcon? Turns out just some random wires that we glued to a piece of black MDF.
Compare it to the detailing on the rest of the OT Falcon. Everything looks designed, substantial, densely packed and functional:
If I'd dressed that back part of the cockpit, I'd consider it a bad day at the office.
By the way, forgive me if this wall was actually modeled for the OT and it always looked this bad (Probably why the camera didn't dwell on it then).
It's also possible that's the real wiring for the lights and effects in the cockpit and the paneling has been removed between takes, or wasn't finished yet when the photo was taken.
It actually reminds me of a behind the scenes photo I once saw of the wiring for the original Enterprise bridge.

Silent Running was one inspiration for MST3K.
And the drones were a design influence on a certain feisty little astromech droid.

We need an OTcon. That would be cool. I've never been to a convention of any kind.
publius over at the LDDb forum runs A-Kon.
I've been saying that for years. ;)
We could figure out some sort of meetup at Celebration in Anaheim next year. I want to go, but I'm going to need a costume wrangler.
As for fans with a different point of view, I think most people behave a bit better in person than they do online.

I've actually been wanting to rewatch Popeye (1980) for a while. The movie doesn't deserve it's lousy reputation. (There never was a proper widescreen version until DVD, and it's one of those films where stuff is happening in almost every corner of the frame.) Williams must have watched every Fleischer cartoon in existence to get the voice and mannerisms down.
Popeye mutters a lot in the old shorts, and the original voice actor allegedly slipped in things past the censors. Robin nailed it.

Neat! I don't think the dice were seen again after the Falcon left Tatooine. Did we ever get a shot looking into the cockpit from behind the rear wall in the OT?
I think green screen is pretty much the standard these days. In the days of black and white movies, red screens were used.
