Important Message Regarding Team Accounts...
Time

We have made repeated requests for team accounts to confine posting to their own project threads.

The reasons behind this were simple, to avoid running afoul of the sockpuppet rule.

I know it’s been a running joke around here for too long, but the time has come to lay down the law.

As per Jay’s request, any further team posts outside their own project-related threads will be deleted without notice.

Repeated violations will result in a ban on any team account.

No three strikes.

No nothing.

Edit: Additionally, with these rules in place, we kindly ask that any chiding or mocking of team accounts cease immediately, especially in topics where those team accounts aren’t permitted to post and defend themselves. We consider these posts personal attacks under the existing moderation rules, subject to the same administrative action.

Edit (24-Jan-2016):

So this drama has started up again. Part of it has been due to our lax enforcement of the rules, so my apologies for that. Part of it is because people are acting like babies.

There will be strict enforcement of the team account rules from now on. What this means:

 1. Any topics started by team accounts that aren’t DIRECTLY related to their projects will be deleted. After 3 violations, your team account will be banned.
 2. Any posts by team accounts outside their own project threads will be deleted. After 3 violations, your team account will be banned.
 3. Any off topic posts within team account threads will be deleted. After 3 violations, you will be banned.

Regardless of your popularity or your contribution to the community, YOU WILL BE BANNED for violating these rules.

Think about how your banning will impact other members and projects before you post. If you contribute to a team account, make sure everyone on the team understands the rules.

Edit (24-Feb-2016):

Team accounts are now forbidden. Any accounts found to be shared by multiple users will be banned.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

Ever accidentally go over the hidden electronic boundaries supermarkets have on their carts that makes them lock up? Imagine that happening, only with exploding Imperials or prisoners.

How would you set the proper range? If something happens to your base ship and you can't get back, you blow up?

I think the potential for the Rebellion to figure out a way to blow up every Imperial officer throughout the galaxy by hacking the system, would outweigh the smaller risk of defections.

I wouldn't worry about it...nothing can be worst than PM and AOTC...EVER

I've gotten plenty of PMs that were better than ROTS.

To be fair, most of us thought before seeing Episode I that George Lucas couldn't make anything worse than Howard the Duck.

I had totally forgotten about the existance of Howard the Duck, until now! (and was a better person for it!)

He's never been totally gone from the comics all these years, (a new HTD solo book was launched in 2015) and Howard even had a cameo in a certain blockbuster Marvel flick last summer...

Lucas did not direct Howard.

But he produced the film, Willard Hyuck and Gloria Katz were involved with American Graffiti and Temple Of Doom, and it was a passion project of his (even before Star Wars), so it is 100% a George Lucas film.

I've read different accounts that he only stepped in as producer to help Hyuck and Katz out. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Anyway, if it been produced by say, Samuel L. Bronkowitz, the reaction would have not been so harsh.

Movies that were updated, then the original was "lost"(other than Star Wars)
Time

Hard to say, since Kubrick didn't live to see DVD become the dominant video format.

He might not have wanted some of the behind the scenes materials that have appeared in the traveling exhibit to pull back the curtain on his techniques either.

The films have been released twice on Blu Ray so far, so Warner's is going to want to have something big for the inevitable anniversary editions.

Kubrick allowed the longer U.S. cut of The Shining to remain available long after he cut the film down to two hours for it's European release.

Most numbers seen or spoken in movies and tv have the fictional 555 prefix, so people don't get weirdos calling them up. Of course, if your number is similar to a certain hit 1980's song. you're screwed. ;)

I actually got the finger as a present back in 1982. I blame the complete lack of Dark Crystal toys on the market for this. At least it was more screen accurate than some of the other E.T. toys back then. The official plush toys were hideous.

And apparently somebody thought it would be a good idea to revisit this with the whole hand!

I blame my nearly life-long, deep-seated hatred of yappy little dogs on my exposure to this thing on the silver screen at the tender age of four.

Anyone who doesn't love Fizzgig is clearly a Skeksis sympathizer. At least he's housebroken! ;)
