Let’s not start dissing on RI now…
Sorry, it’s therapeutic for family reasons. And Family Guy has done more harm to RI than I ever could.
There are some cheap copies in the UK on Ebay as well.
P.S. If you need software to play back HD DVD on your PC, I can point you in the right direction. Most home theater software dropped support for the format years ago.
Hey! At least we’re not Rhode Island! 😉

The Death Star could take a couple shots at the Empress’ tower. And puzzled reaction shots from Bastian, as Star Wars characters suddenly appear in the book. 😉
Here’s a good reason to avoid California: earthquakes.
There are quake faults all over the country and the world. Washington DC got hit by one a few years back, and the Washington Monument had to close for repairs.
And then there’s this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Seismic_ZoneAnd goodness knows what Irwin Allen wet dream all the byproducts of fracking activity might unleash eventually.
Another California myth people seem to buy into is the entire state would somehow fall into the ocean when the big one hits. And this was before the silly disaster movies of recent vintage.
Yes, I remember the one that damaged the Washington Monument. It was felt in my area. I posted about it on the forum the day it happened.
Maybe it is a myth that the entire state would fall into the ocean, but I don’t think it is myth that scientists fear “the big one” might hit California sometime soon.
Which is why new structures have to meet strict standards out here, and older ones have to be retrofitted. The 1994 Northridge Quake gave scientists a lot of new data on how certain structures fail.
Genuine question to mods: what counts as a strike?
Depends on the situation. A newbie who doesn’t understand the rules yet, vs. someone who’s trying to see how far they can get away with bad behavior.
The fact that this forum was seemingly made to get the Out
re released on a decent format reaffirms for me that there will only ever be 3, true star wars films. The rest are ‘cover’ versions.that all the other films never happened.
If only this was true. I think any classic film(s) should be protected. I’d hate to see another Godfather for example. I’m dreading Blade Runner 2!
“Protected” from sequels? Ehhhh…I will argue that films should be preserved, regardless of quality. Ex., the prequels’ original cuts, hell I’d even defend shit like the Super Mario Bros Movie (which I’m still waiting for a region-free bluray of).
However, sequels/remakes should be fair game. It’s up to the filmmakers whether it’s good or not, if it is, well no complaints here. If it’s bad…just let it fade out of existence like most shit films. For instance, the Ghostbusters reboot. If all that hate boner-ism wasn’t built up around it, it would’ve came and gone, the only impression left being Ecto Cooler and an awful Rotten Tomatoes score. Oh wait, that’s already happening. So much for all that time, energy, and vitriol all it’s detractors poured into it.
So remaking Psycho, shot for shot is okay? Copies of masterpiece paintings are called fakes! Is film not art?
Is remaking The Maltese Falcon okay? 😉
I don’t make childish films for attention.
Is this supposed to hurt my feelings or something? You’re gonna have to try harder. I recommend insulting my dead child or my autistic child, your choice.
That explains your posts.
Stop. Now.

Don’t encourage people to press your buttons. That never ends well.
In your opinion.

When this forum was created in 2003, there was a lot less Star Wars to go around.
Palpatine in drag would be funny as heck.

It has a Gini coefficient of 0.471, ranked #44 in the United States and the same as the Dominican Republic.
Does the Dominican Republic have Disneyland and the Universal Studios Tour? :p
Only other place I’d rather live is Florida, land of my birth, but I’d just be trading earthquakes and brush fires for hurricanes and sinkholes. 😉
Hey, you seemed to like the hour you spent in Albuquerque. 😉
Except for the hard to breathe because of the altitude part. 😉
People get funny ideas about California. That all of it is like Los Angeles. It’s not. That it’s warm and sunny all the time. We’ve suffered through a long miserably cold and wet winter after years of drought. (The last storm that blew through threatened to break my sliding glass door, and tore up my patio.) But at least I never have to shovel snow, or see it up close. The last winter I spent on the East coast put me off snow for good.
And in spite of being a “blue” state, you’ll easily find people on the red side of things. I’m smack in the middle of what was called Reagan country. He was once our governor you know!
I lived in a lot other places when I was kid, but this is my home. Some kids would treat me differently upon learning I had lived out here, don’t know why they had a negative impression of the state. Only other place I’d rather live is Florida, land of my birth, but I’d just be trading earthquakes and brush fires for hurricanes and sinkholes. 😉
TFA not only ruined the first instalment of the new trilogy by being shitty rehash, but it also made sure the second instalment will be a rehash at least to some degree. I do not think I will even go see Episode VIII. >
Does that mean you’ll stay out of this thread? 😉

Star War?
Your “input” is, as always, completely unwelcome.
Like I give a shit what you think, you haven’t got a clue!
Thin ice. You’re on it.
KYLO: You said you loved me!
SNOKE: I love you in my own way.
fires Force lightning at him
And it’s horrors like that that have deterred me from buying a single Disney animated film on Blu Ray in years. I have most of them on LD anyway. 😉
I would hope Lucasfilm has enough autonomy to do their own transfers “in house”.
A ship to ship duel would be interesting. We haven’t seen Kylo’s piloting skills yet.
Do Wookiees seek revenge? (Excepting the Wooks gone bad in the EU past and present.) That’s a good question. Chewie would look nasty just killing Kylo in cold blood. I can’t see him doing it unless Kylo is about to kill someone, and it’s the only way to save them.
It’s equally possible Kylo turns away from the dark side long enough to do something good, but dies in the process. Like Grandfather, like Grandson. Think about it, won’t you? 😉
All this talk makes me wonder why J.J. funded a remastering of PHANTASM but not STAR WARS '77. Then again, I suppose they were already in the process of the 4k scans by the time he was in talks to direct TFA.
Phantasm isn’t owned by a huge company though.
It was a personal project- much like Moroder’s Metropolis 30+ years ago. Star Wars is a huge seller- it shouldn’t need to be a personal project.
And both of those have shiny Blu Ray editions. Personal project or no, J.J. wasn’t dealing with a film that might be caught between two powerful entities, Fox and Disney.
