An average one hour show today is barely 40 minutes these days without commercials. A typical uncut Galactica episode is 49 minutes. I’ve been watching the Blu Ray set lately, and it’s great they have the longer episodes in their original form. The only thing I miss from the old days is the cool commercial break bumper graphic the series had.

For a brief period in the early 80’s I could watch reruns of TOS, BSG, and Buck Rogers all on the same station. Sometimes on the same weekend! It’s curious the infamous Galactica 1980 wasn’t added to BSG to make a larger syndication package. The tv movies cobbled together from various BSG episodes also got a lot of airplay.

When a show is released uncut on DVD or Blu Ray, edited syndication versions become pointless. The Twilight Zone was massacred quite some time ago, even removing a pivotal scene from one episode just to cram in more ads. Rod Serling should come back and put them in the cornfield for that.

I don’t get why people like Mace Windu- he’s the biggest dick in the Jedi Order and that’s saying something.

He’s everything wrong with the PT Jedi encapsulated in one person – dogmatic, legalistic, apathetic, and hypocritical. I love to hate him.

They say this cat Mace is a bad mother…

I hope they catch holy hell for that.

Check the date on the article. There was a small media dustup about a month ago, and nothing.

Meanwhile in North Carolina, HB330 just passed the House, which protects you from civil suits if you run over protesters with your car. Veto expected, but how the crap can a majority of any collection of human beings vote for this?

Must be something in the drinking water that causes insanity.

4K restoration on Star Wars

It’s not like Lucasfilm hasn’t altered ROTJ multiple times after the director passed away… Am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy there?

Also - why would they do any release prior to 2020? Spending a bunch of money on an OT restoration and having to split the money from TESB and ROTJ with Fox is just stupid. I still don’t know why anyone is expecting anything to happen prior to the rights reverting

Then they should make a clear concise statement on the matter, so people aren’t left hanging and speculating wildly. The 40th would be a good time to do so.
Some of us have been on the S.S. Bantha Poodoo from Lucasfilm too long, and the 40th is a good time to jump ship, without some shred of hope. If they don’t want our money, they should say so.

Also, does it matter if Kathleen believes in George’s vision when the house of mouse can override that and be like ā€œnope, we like money, put out the OOT, we worked out a deal with FOXā€

They let Disney have their way with EP7 so…

This. George was his own boss. If he wanted to make a sw film made of nothing but of cgi potatoes, he could. Kathleen Kennedy is not her own boss. She is a figurehead/manager who answers to stock holders and a corporate board (see: syndicate).

When Disney bought Lucasfilm, they bought EVERYTHING. There’s no contract that says they can’t release the out. For $4 billion, they don’t owe George anything. Kk might have professional and personal respect for George, but also has superiors to appease. Superiors who micromanage every decision to the tiniest detail in order maximize short and long term profits.

Disney can and will release the out, but it will be solely when they feel it will get the biggest bang; not when the fans want it, not to comemmerate some date, etc.

Because Disney doesn’t care about some date. šŸ˜‰

Yeah this complaint is stupid. BB is right there, chirping, as r2 wakes up. Sounds reasonable

That’s not what I mean. So let’s ignore the embarrassing scene where R2 is revealed like a 1:1 collector’s item for us to get all nostalgic at. He comes online as he’s like ā€œoh hey I’m alive, you didn’t take this map already?ā€ before calling 3PO a gold plated fuckwit or whatever they bleeped since he was the one saying how unlikely it was that R2 had the damn thing. Ignoring this, why did he wake up at that exact moment just in time for the battle victory? What if it took like another year or more? Or never? It’s all backwards, as if they realised that if BB8 had the whole map the movie wouldn’t need a diversion into the Death Star, and so they made up the missing fragment and sleepy R2 stuff.

As Star Wars is fiction, it’s all made up. šŸ˜‰

And we’re talking about the droid who helped win the war against the Empire. Of course he’s a collector’s item. Can you imagine what he would fetch on the intergalactic version of Ebay?
