An average one hour show today is barely 40 minutes these days without commercials. A typical uncut Galactica episode is 49 minutes. Iāve been watching the Blu Ray set lately, and itās great they have the longer episodes in their original form. The only thing I miss from the old days is the cool commercial break bumper graphic the series had.

For a brief period in the early 80ās I could watch reruns of TOS, BSG, and Buck Rogers all on the same station. Sometimes on the same weekend! Itās curious the infamous Galactica 1980 wasnāt added to BSG to make a larger syndication package. The tv movies cobbled together from various BSG episodes also got a lot of airplay.
When a show is released uncut on DVD or Blu Ray, edited syndication versions become pointless. The Twilight Zone was massacred quite some time ago, even removing a pivotal scene from one episode just to cram in more ads. Rod Serling should come back and put them in the cornfield for that.
