Ok. I’m recalling an old newspaper article that said he had recut it several times over the years. As there was a version that aired on ABC that was a hybrid of the theatrical and the SE, it’s easy to get confused as to how many “official” cuts there are.

When the movie finally reached HBO in the early 80’s, it was the SE.

I would have liked to seen the inside of the Mothership scene on the big screen.

The way that’s worded makes me fear it’s been scrubbed clean of grain. And Spielberg has re-edited the movie so many damn times, I don’t even know what his preferred cut is anymore.
