The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

I am truly sorry I didn’t respond to your PM. As a forum mod I am often neck deep in private messages, and things do slip through the cracks. I will say I was pretty burned out for quite some time afterward about the 40th and not wanting to think about it too much.

Contrary to popular belief, I’m not on here 24/7 and I don’t see every post on every thread. Perhaps I only see one side of you because of that, but it’s not your best side. There is persistence and there’s hammering an already made point into the ground. I may have insecurities, but none of them are even remotely related to this site.

Passion for the OOT is good, that’s why we’re here in the first place. But constantly ragging on the new stuff won’t magically bring back the OOT. If you don’t care for the new films, they are easily ignored by staying out of those threads. I’m probably not in prequel threads as much but I do say something if I see someone going too far. Prequel criticism around here is much milder than it was a decade ago, believe it or not.

I happen to like some things about the preqeuls. I even own The Phantom Menace on Laserdisc, and it’s stored right next to my OT LD’s. So far, they haven’t burst into flames as a result.

Wow, I don’t even merit a juvenile personal attack? I’m hurt. When have you ever contributed one positive thing to this site in the two plus years you’ve been stinking up the joint? You don’t just beat a dead horse, you pulverized it, inhaled it and breathed it out again.

I’m sure there’s some other SW forum you’d be happier at, if they are willing to put up with you half as long as we have.

I guess the only way to fix this is to give the NAACP all the rights to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and then they can “correct” all the definition of words therein.

Also not how anything works.

It sure seems like certain black people think only black people can define what words mean.

Holy shit dude.

Beat me to it.

well, do I get decide to define color blind, as treating people equally without regard to the color of their skin? Nope.

Do I get to decide that thug doesn’t mean anything racially? nope.

Do I get to decide that a white homeless guy isn’t privileged? nope.

But black people can decide the opposite. That seems to be the way thing work.

White privilege.

take white privilege and shove it up your ass

I am honestly sick and tired of this shit from you. It seems to be your “go to” for everything in these racial discussions.

Play nice, kids.

The petty name calling really needs to stop.

It’s possible to enjoy the new projects and still be passionate about the OOT. Shocking isn’t it?

In any case, we’ve always discussed all aspects of Star Wars around here, even the prequels. That’s what the General Star Wars Discussion section is for.

Either bring something new to the table, or kindly stop pooping on it.

I would like to do more in depth research before concluding that the all the Confederacy was about, was slavery and racism. My gut is telling me it is a bit more complicated and nuanced than that. But, I could be wrong.

Btw, there is a Confederate monument in NJ. It marks the place where a lot of Confederate Pows died and were buried. They died of diseases and such, probably because the North didn’t take all that good care of them. It is monument the the men that died and there and I guess acts as their grave marker. Their identities are unknown. I don’t think it was put there show black people that the whites were still in control. Does it need to be removed?

What about confederate flags and stuff at cemeteries where confederate soldiers are buried?

What about all the markers at Gettysburg that mark were all the various soldiers of both sides were? Do the Confederate ones need to come down?

That all should be left alone. Most of the statues and monuments people are upset about went up well into the 20th century, when a romantic idealized version of the old South was being promoted. You even had schools named after Confederate “heroes”. The South Shall Rise Again is a slogan I’ve seen on bumper stickers in the past.

Something like this probably should be left alone, as it was a memorial marker in a cemetery.

While I know you’re joking, your opinion that it’s objective is influenced by your own personal feelings, so…

Don’t even bother with Frinks he is a thin skinned idiot who attacks anybody with a different opinion. But as soon as somebody makes a light hearted joke about badly made star wars figures or autism(look at some of his older comments from the ‘‘random image’’ board) he loses his shit. Just let the snarky Jew enjoy his echo chamber in peace.

Oh the hell no!

Since I wasn’t around when TFA came out (and to possibly re-rail this thread a bit), I mostly enjoyed TFA, rehashes and all (and I say that as someone who’s very critical of ROTJ for its rehashiness).

It was a necessary palate cleanser after the dumpster fires of the prequels, introduced two protagonists I already have a lot of interest and investment in (Rey and Poe) and an antagonist that is compelling and frightening due to how unstable and unsure of himself he is (Kylo), and set the stage for something truly fresh and unique to come after.

It’s not perfect, of course. For one, I hate Starkiller Base and think the movie should have ended with Rey imprisoned on Kylo’s Star Destroyer, with the rescue attempt happening amid a battle between the New Republic fleet (which would have been decimated) and the First Order as they staged a surprise orbital bombardment of the New Republic capitol rather than on a snow planet that for some reason is a hyperspace Death Star. For two, the actual politics of the Resistance/Republic/First Order were woefully underestablished (or not established at all). For three, I thought Finn was poorly handled - a defecting stormtrooper shouldn’t be a bumbling comic relief character.

But overall? Better than any of the prequels, and better than ROTJ.

What you say are dumpster fires (ok episode 1 and 2 are bad lol) I enjoy more than this new family friendly disney mainstream film made entirely just for the box office

Are you implying the prequels and OT are indie art films? Lucas likes making money too!
