Haven't seen the second program, but I am familiar with the top one because theforce.net hosts it in very small quicktime films with video about the size of my thumb. Great special, and would love for you to release these.

russs, I believe the Force Returns special is included on OCP's "Special Edition Hype" disc.

Idea: a Shawshank Redemption Bonus Disc (* unfinished project *)

What's the point of adding it if it's already on the R1 retail DVD? And the short was animated, it was a spoof set in a production company starring Morgan Freeman's son.

Ash, are you sure there was a Page to Screen episode on this? I can't find anything on it. TV.com has a list of 11 episodes (7 of which I've seen) and Shawshank isn't listed as one of them. The Bravo website doesn't mention it either.

Info & Help: looking for... 'AFI - The Directors'
Time
Is this the same as the Encore series "The Directors"?

http://imdb.com/title/tt0224861/

If so, they used to air them every Saturday or Sunday morning. I only caught a few episodes. Ones on Steven Spielberg, Frank Darabont, Gary Ross (funny since the latter two have only done a handful of films).

I looked up the series on Encore's website and apparently the only thing they've been airing is a "Best Of" compilation.

When he says "widescreen" I figured he meant 2.35:1 as opposed to widescreen in general as he goes on to say how one doesn't get good depth of focus with anamorphic widescreen (which is 2.35:1) and the film wasn't epic in scale (an attribute associated with 2.35:1). The home video comment just seems like a trade off situation. He says that at the time they were shooting, 1.77:1 had been chosen as the standard television ratio so he means that if they shot it in 2.35:1, then more of the picture would be cut off for television. So by shooting 1.85:1, the television image (1.77, not 1.33) was closer. I haven't seen Zemeckis's comments though.

Info: Theatrical Trailers...
Time
I was just going by a Raimi interview that I saw on TV at the time of the release where he actually said it was intended in the film but left out due to 911. he said it was at the part where the show the multiple clips of Spidey fighting crime in the middle of the film.
I guess it's possible. I recall conflicting reports on the issue though. If I remember correctly, Laura Ziskin (the producer) took one position, Raimi took another, and yet another producer took another. The issue seems fairly muddled, but I believe the conclusive answer is that it was done for the teaser specifically. The style of the teaser is also very different from that of the final film so I don't know how well that would have worked.

Info: Theatrical Trailers...
Time
Some of these can be found on other DVDs but compiling them should be a task. I remember seeing the "Brick" trailer upon starting up a few several DVDs over the past few months.

Some trailers that I wouldn't mind seeing (mostly because they weren't released with the DVDs I bought!):

Spider-Man 2. It's missing its teaser trailer (the one opening in the cafe) which I prefer over the one on the DVD. I know it's included on the DVD of "The Missing."

Spider-Man. Everyone knows about the WTC teaser. It's been rumored that it's escaped onto a magazine exclusive DVD. Also, the first theatrical trailer is not included on the DVD release. Luckily, it was included on a Best Buy exclusive disc for Spidey 2!

Titanic. The trailers, etc. were included on the 4-Disc Collector's Edition internationally, but not here in the States!

Unbreakable. This is probably one of the first cases in the disappearing trailers trend.

A.I. I believe this is missing one of its three trailers.

Batman Begins. Only the teaser is included. I much prefer the second one.

Harry Potter films. Same with Batman Begins. I believe the teaser is featured on all of them, not the full one.

King Kong. I haven't checked this one out yet. Are the trailers included with the Production Diaries or 2-Disc SE?

Coincidence?
Time
They are written fairly vaguely, but yeah, remember Lucas calling the saga a big poem with rhyming parts, different characters facing similar situations and confronted with the same choices, etc?

To take things further, ROTJ is a rehash of ANH. Moving onto other films, the last part of Aliens is a rehash of Alien and T2 is a rehash of the Terminator. Same plotpoints and basically even the same scenes. The stakes are just raised.

.-The Matrix Hacked-..:Completed:.

I ran into a few audio sync problems with Womble when I tried editing the Lord of the Rings films. As Marvolo mentioned, the Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD (which has a 1 month free trial available on the website) spits out DVD files free of sync errors. However, putting the output video & audio files through a DVD authoring program resulted in errors. One way of getting around this (though it may degrade the quality of the audio) is to import the output video & audio files back into Womble, zooming in to the end, and noting the number of frames the audio was off by and also calculating the # of seconds of both the video and audio. Then, I brought the audio file into a separate program (GoldWave, btw), noted the running time it reported (for some reason, it was usually different from the length Womble stated), and worked out a ratio to find the number of seconds the audio should be according to GoldWave. Then, I used the time warp feature to get it to the right length. I then brought the new wav file back into Womble and it synced up brilliantly. Of course, this method probably degrades the original audio and so it may not be an option for some.

As far as audio hiccups went, I would try encoding it several different times, each time maybe overlapping audio clips more and more and fading them into one another until audio pops disappeared. Still, most of my methods seem like cheats. But it works for me since I'm not an audiophile.
