STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Quoting:

Ok, i've tweaked a few things in the past couple of days but i will be doing no more work on this edit. The majority of fans like what i have done and that is all that matters to me. I want to put this edit to rest so i can have a break and then concentrate on ESB. I don't care if some of the FX aren't great or that elements don't match. the vision i had for the edit is now on screen and i had to do this using whatever footage i possibly could. I'd never done FX before and i am proud of what i have accomplished so this will be my last word on any changes happening for the DVD versions of ANH. Here's the changes:

Removed the ILM crew member from the droid sale
Removed the wire and batteries seen up Luke's sleeve in Ben's hut
Removed the remaining wires from Ben's sleeve during the sabre fight
Ponad Baba's arm will be swapped for Dr. Evazan' s arm & hand
Slight tweak to the TIE approach. The background & camera is no longer static at the beginning & a new Death Star surface
Fixed the gunport shot during the TIE battle where the gun remains static when Han swings the chair and the gun can clearly be seen over the top of the chair instead of behind it
Credits fixed

As for the sabers being too fat then just have a look at the state of the originals. the width is all over the place throughout. When rotoscoping i had to make them slightly fatter in a lot of shots because the blade is all over the place and has really jagged edges and as was mentioned by Fuser the blades are never the same thickness during ESB & ROTJ an actually get fatter than the ones i did at times too.

Oh and if i sounded a bit cranky yesterday then i appologise. I'm in total agony at the moment. Not only are my health problems worse due to the cold weather but half my back tooth cracked off and there is no NHS dentist that will fix it , i just can't afford to go private, so i have to wait for the hospital to send me an appointment to fix it which could take up to 4 months for me to get in. Isn't the UK a great country. you can pay you national insurance contributions for all your working life and when you need the help you can't get it , especially if you live up north. If i was a criminal, drug addict, binge drinker or an immigrant i would receive immediate treatment from the NHS. But i'm a law abiding citizen who worked all his life until my health problems and contributed to this country, so i can go to hell as far as this government is concerned.

Ady, you are an amazing man! We wish you well! I cannot believe you actually fixed those minor shots! So will this be for new torrent upload or will this wait for DVD?

I am saying a huge thank you to Ady! I cannot THANK him enough. I want to hit that point home as hard a possible!

I have a question, and remember I know I am an idiot when it come to this stuff, I have some blank DVD-R's setting around and I wanna burn this AVI on to one of them, the movie is a bit longer than the 120 maximum quality allows, but if I wanted to burn the first two hours I could and have the whole movie, but just not all the credits. How can I do that? ( The ending medals ceremony ends at just barely under 2 hours.) I also of course have to convert the AVI.

I don't want or expect him to lose any sleep, no movie is perfect. I was just pointing out 3 things. The awesome things are too many to mention! I guess it's ok to complain about the flipper thing, which I had no problem with, yet I get raked over the coals when I mention those three other little things!

If these three things were fixed the edit would be pretty much perfect to me.

*The obviously human guy posing as a Jawa at the end of the purchase of the droids scene.

*The cord/battery pack up Luke's sleeve when he first ignites the saber and waves it around in Kenobi's house. I know it's quick and most don't notice, but once you do notice you never don't again. You said this was difficult, but it seems like an easy fix compare to the other amazing things that were done!

*A couple of shots during the saber duel you can still see the cord near Kenobi's sleeve. This should be painted out, maybe using elements of Kenobi's robe as it was in others shots.

Thanks so much for the amazing work and this edit has made my year so far!

Ady tried to make Kenobi say "I wanted you to have it when you were old enough." but he wasn't satisfied with the result. Obi-Wan does say "I" a few times in the trilogy. But apparently I didn't work for Ady.

Ady also said he could not paint out the cords/battery pack up Luke's sleeve in that scene for some reason.

But Lucas had pretty much exausted his real world locations with the OT (Snow, forest, Desert), he had to create some more exotic enviroments somehow.

I would agree some clonetrooper suits should have been built though, but there is no need to turn this into an Lucas bashfest, if it weren't for him none of us would be here.

The gun turret not turning with Han could simply by fixed by shorting the shot to the frame before it happens. But it's no big deal with me, maybe the falcon has a few minor gliches, it is known as a piece of junk to some people, you know.

I could see the power cord near Kenobi's sleeve in a couple of duel shots, although no biggie at all.

I still guess it would be too hard to paint out the human guy posing as Jawa or edit it in someway where he would not be seen?

I recall Ady said it was too difficult to paint out the power pack/cords up Luke's sleeve when he ignites the saber in Kenobi's house. But with all the other amazing things he did, it seems like that would be an easy frame-by-frame fix.

But I know nothing about how difficult these things can be, because I haven't used the editing software.

As for the blood, the saber cortorizes the wound so there would be no blood. here's a snapshot from the holiday special that shows his flipper, even though the colouring is different to that in ANH because of the lighting:

True, but I also thought that maybe certain species' bodies in the SW Universe have something about their bodies that somehow won't cauterize". Although I fine with it either way.

The "flipper" from Ponda Boba. I had to pause and take a look at it. I imagine someone seeing this for the first time would be like "wtf am I looking at?" making the shot a distraction. It's like an orange tube with a half inflated gray balloon at the end. It doesn't look like anything that could hold a gun, much less like an actual appendage. Sure, wolfman's hand was out of place, but at least it looked like a hand and the blood made it perfectly clear that this was a severed limb that Obi-Wan must have cut off, in the quick action seconds before.

But the flipper hand looked exactly how Ponda's looked in all the other scenes, just because we don't see exactly how he gets a good grip on the blaster, doesn't mean he cannot.
Ady did well and it looked pretty convincing to me. I do not agree about it looking bad.

I notice that you have now edited this post since you first replied. I have to say your attitude pissed me off a bit. I am working as fast as i can, while not too fast that i make mistakes. i have had no sleep for 3 days just to get the last few things finished and i was really not in the mood for your impatience and quite bad attitude towards me. Why be so sarcastic about how long it's now going to take to complete? as i replied originally, i did say that hopefully it would be 2 weeks, but gave no guarantee. also if you looked at the date that i actually posted that it was 3rd January, and by my calculations the 2 weeks isn't up until the 17th, so i still have 1 day to go. I'm just one guy working on this edit so please just cut me some slack. it will be ready when i have checked and double checked everything and feel happy enough with it to release it.

That's why I said "almost" two weeks ago, today is the 16th, yesterday was the 15th, so technically "almost" 2 weeks after the 3rd, the 15th would qualify. My aim was not to offend, especially when your are working all those long sleepless hours and days. Thank God I only stumbled on this thread and project in Nov 2007 or I would have pulled out my hair waiting a year and a half. So please don't be angry with me. I am just really looking forward to it.
How many times can I day thank you? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! times a billion from this impatient, rude, imapatient, douchery bastard.
