I see what you mean, but then don't they have to travel the length of the tube that connects the fin to the wall of the chasm? Is it some kind of long hallway or is like a travel tube of some sort? How long is the tube anyways?

Ok this is the way i see it....

The workers in Cloud City seem to be the Ugnaughts while the rest seem to be residents (extra revenue & good business sense so income is not reliant on the gas mine). The Carbon chamber is located within the vane. To get to it you have to travel down a long shaft. Now the carbon chamber wouldn't be the only facility in the vane as this would serve some other purpose too to do with the mining the gas. Now travelling down the shaft to get to the facility doesn't seem stupid to me as it is a mine and the long shaft may symbolise the shaft that coal miners had to travel down each day. Now if you look at the city it does seem a very clean place and a place that the wealthy would reside (especially when you see the rest of the galaxy at that point in time). Wouldn't it make perfect sense to have the mining facilities and industrial sector tucked away in the bowels of the city?

After studying the movie it is clear that the carbon chamber is situated directly above the room with the window in the vane.

Not everything needs to be explained in movies. like i said before we don't need to see Luke travelling down the shaft. If everything was explained to the audience then what's left for their imagination? Maybe we could get a cameo of Ric Olie in this scene working in the vane and explain everything to the audience?. lol

I know you consider the books or guides EU, but they suggest the Freezing chamber that Han was frozen in was a showroom of sorts for could-be customers.

Anyone have images from the Complete Locations book of the vane cutaway?

From what I've seen of the Carbonite Freezing chamber in behind the scenes pics, It doesn't look as big as it did in the movie.

I would guess that room was not much more than 40 feet across. Yes it it still might be fudging a bit to get it in the vane, but not by as much as you think. Same goes for the falcon, you couldn't get those sets inside it, but it's not that far off, but it takes some fudging.

After looking at the revised list of what will be changed, this one:

8. Fixing vaders "wobbly" helmet when on the gantry

isn't all that necessary because it makes sense that it moves a little:

When Vader fell off the platform, his helmet is clearly bent and crooked when he returns to throw objects at Luke. It wouldn't really be a fix to stop it from moving in the high winds during that scene.

He already fixed it though, I can have it either way, it didn't bother me.

By the time you get around to the prequels they will be on Blu Ray, with new transfers and a CG Yoda in TPM so the coloring isssues may well be moot.

I say, why bother with the prequels? They are beyond repair. All the skills in the world can't make them work. You can't polish a turd.

That's just an opinion, not fact. We all have differing opinions.

AdY real quick PT question.........Obviously the OT had major recoloring issues.....what's your opinion of the coloring in the PT?

The PT will be getting a complete colour correction overhaul. TPM is pink, AOTC is orange , and only ROTS looks any way normal.

This is some kind of personal thing, and it will affect the story IN A HUGE WAY... It mainly affects ROTJ, but there is one little scene here.

Dont make Luke and Leia Brother and Sister... It just feels forced and stupid. It makes no sense that nobody ever felt the force in her, why obi-wan never even cared about her rescue on A New Hope, why nor yoda nor obi-wan even cared training her AT THE SAME TIME as Luke. And it breaks that tension between Han-Leia-Luke, without really giving anything to the story.

It wouldnt be that hard to edit from ROTJ, the biggest change would be how to make luke get angry with vader... But any other time is just cutting dialogue.

In ESB youll have to cut down the "No, there is another" (thats why im posting this here first and not waiting untill ROTJ:R)

no, i will be keeping the brother/ sister relationship. There is no real way around it. It's the reason why Luke gets so angry with Vader and taking this out leaves nothing else for Vader to push Luke into almost turning to the dark side

By the time you get around to the prequels they will be on Blu Ray, with new transfers and a CG Yoda in TPM so the coloring isssues may well be moot.

Adventures on Hoth:

21. Flipping the shot of the saber cutting open the taun Taun because its hind legs are the wrong side of the frame.

Just checking out the updated list on page 1. I think there's a problem in flipping the shot discussed above...

We see Han preparing to slice from (his) left to right, which is consistent in the following shot of the tauntaun's belly being cut. However, if the shot gets flipped, the saber will be going from in the wrong direction on the next shot, no?

Unless you have a way of eliminating the saber from the shot ady, might I suggest that, if you still want to flip it, you simply zoom in to avoid seeing whatever it is we're seeing to the right of the frame? (I'm assuming this is the tauntaun's leg, which I assume you're assuming as well, hence why you want to flip the shot in the first place).

Boy, that's a lot of assumptions...

Oh, and by the way, sorry to hear you're not doing well at the moment ady... I hope you feel better soon, and that it's nothing too serious.

have a look at the first shot of han you posted. Look at the emblem on his coat and you will see that its a flipped shot, so flipping that first shot and the taun taun and the sabers are all in the correct direction

Actually there is no jump cut when the gun appears. What's happened is that they speeded up the film to make the gun come out faster. I have checked this shot frame by frame and there are no missing frames. What looks unnatural to the eye is that because the shot was originally slower there is no motion blur on the gun when there should be.

Interesting! I always thought maybe it was stop-motion animated, for whatever reason there would be for doing such a thing. Is there a way of making it slower without actually making it slower, if you know what I mean?

As for the explosion immediately after, could some extra little explosion or something help to hide some of the hidden frames?

I also agree about the PT sabers. To me, there's a little too much sharp separation of white and color, and why would they have sharp tips like a real sword? They're just beams of energy. I dunno, I still think the ones in ESB are the best.

that's one part i can't agree with the pt lightsabers are fine the way they are. the only thing that needs to be changed in windu's lightsaber color.

The sabers in the PT look more fake than the OT ones. This weapon is giving off a coloured glow and the core is supposed to be bright, but there is no gradient of the glow which is totally artificial. they got the sabers right in the OT

While it is true there were few physical ships built for AOTC and ROTS, there were plenty of models Lucas could have surrounded himself with, it just wasn't practical. Or he could have surrounded himself with TPM only ships, would have been fine. Queen's Starship, droid control ship, etc.

THe main reason minature sets were build, like the GEONOSIS arena is he wanted more exotic looking enviroments, not to be Earth bound by forrests, Snow, or desert only. What would be the sense in building the entire Geonosis arena in full scale? Read Sculpting a Galaxy, you'll see how many miniatures were built physically.

I have sculpting a galaxy so i do know what i am talking about. There were not a few ships built for AOTC .. there were none. The only ships that were built were to enable the CG artists to create the 3D models. No physical models were used for ships in AOTC and especially ROTS

Were are talking soley about ships, right?

That new shot of GL really annoys me. There is not 1 physical model in that shot. Its all GC and it really does show how artificial the models can look. The argument about more models were used in the PT than the OT is total rubbish too and just some garbage that PT lovers try to use to defend the prequels. Models were used for the ships in the OT and full physical sets were built . The Pt was a lot of greescreen sets for which they build model sets or CG sets. Only TPM used any form of physical models for ships. AOTC & ROTS all the ships are CG.

no updates on the progress i'm afraid. there are a few things going on in my life at the moment, and my health isn't too good either, that is preventing me from starting on the models. Hopefully it won't be long before i can start though.

Adywan, now that you're in your model-building phase, I thought I'd just drop this here since it gave me both a chuckle and a tear.

There would actually in truth be more physical models with the prequels. Each prequel had more physical models than the entire OT combined. But don't take my word for it, read the books and watch the docus.

I made a new poster in support of the revisted. It is inspired by some of the posters that Simonz guy makes.

I am still tweaking it but enjoy it. I will make a landscape version soon with more going on.

The layout is very messy. Look into fading using masks. Don't add glows around people. The image selection is fine. Just reposition it and it'll look much better.

Isn't that our moon used in it?

What I find hilarious is that anything bad about ESB is Lucas' fault, but anything good is Kershner's.

Now you are catching on! It is too bad Kersh was powerless to stop Lucas from meddling with his movie!! :P

I believe Ady was touching up the scenes to remove the footprints from around where the explosion happened.

You are kiddin, right?
